“Megan was great! She is very professional, is clearly comfortable with dogs, and has thoughtfully created a safe place for dogs to hang out when they are with her. I felt very comfortable leaving my furry friend with her, and would definitely work with her again. Thank you!”

“Young did a great job making me and my dog Finn feel comfortable in new surroundings. Lots of communication throughout the day with photos and videos showing how Finn was doing. Young really cares about his clients and goes out of his way to make sure everyone is comfortable. It was a great experience and we will be using Young again for day care and boarding.”
“Very prompt and responsive. Kristin was quick to take my pup in when I needed a last minute dog sitter for a few hours. I could tell from the rip, Kristin is a dog lover and enjoys the company. A nice, beautiful neighborhood and great home. Thanks, Kristin!”

“Jessica and Eric were great! Very nice, sent picture updates, my furry friend came out happy and had a great time. Would definitely work with them again for dog sitting, thank you!”

“Melissa went above and beyond for our little guy. She was so sweet with him, and in coordinating the pickup, she went out of her way to accommodate us. Our dog left a happy pup.”

About: I’m a small-breed dog mom to two friendly Shih Tzus. I’ve trained both of them from puppyhood, so I’m experienced in teaching calm behavior, basic obedience, and creating a well-structured environment for small dogs. I’m happy to reinforce good manners. I have a fenced backyard and a fenced small-breed dog park within walking distance, and we go there every other day for playtime and socializing. Leonard and Taylor are both gentle, well-behaved, and great companions for visiting pups. My home is calm, clean, and ideal for small-breed dogs who enjoy a safe and friendly environment. I’m available full time for boarding on weekends and holidays. On weekdays, my two Shih Tzus—Leonard (born April 2024) and Taylor (born March 2025)—stay home from about 10am to 6pm. They are used to a calm routine and do very well together. If your dog is comfortable being without a human for part of the day, weekday boarding can also work. I live in a house with a fenced backyard and a fenced small-breed dog park within walking distance. We go there every other day for playtime and sniff walks. Both Leonard and Taylor are friendly, gentle Shih Tzus who make great company for visiting small dogs. My home is clean, safe, and perfect for small breeds. I also have both small and medium crates available if you prefer your dog crated.
“Gina and her family are wonderful. So caring, they are active with pets, and personable. Buddy was able to be himself, play and then kick-back and rest. Their yard is so doggie ready and Buddy made new friends. Very pleasant visit, Thank you!”

About: I have owned and trained dogs of all ages. I currently have a 5 yr old purebred yellow lab who is a service dog. I have experience with behavior challenges and dogs with medical needs. I am dedicated and committed to caring for your pet as an extension of you. Our dog is with us almost 20+ hours a day so close to around the clock companionship and oversight will be provided. I have a fenced yard as well as a doggie door. Your fur baby will have everything he/she needs to be happy and loved. Consider it a doggy vacation resort.
“Very sweet, really cared about our dogs! It was our first time leaving our babies with anyone and we couldn’t have found better people to watch them. Will definitely be back”

About: I have lived in Tahoe for 25 years and always had my own dog and watched over my friend's dogs throughout the years. My best friend (Maggie - Retriever) passed away 18 months ago and I watch many of my friend's dogs frequently, including an elderly short hair retriever that is battling pancreatic cancer. I work from home and board my friend's dogs as well as check in and walk dogs when owners need help. I do have a number of recent references. I have worked from home for 25 years. I am very active and walk frequently. I am an early morning riser and monitor how often dogs need a walk or outside break. Pets are a part of my daily routine. My home: I have beds set up and recognize different doggy routines, ie need to go on the porch for sun, or need to go out for a break and walk. I have a section on my porch and in the laundry area for their food and water and a special area where I organize all the food, medication, leaches, doggy bags. I have a place by my couches with a large basket with balls, toys and stuffed doggy animals. I watch a number of my friend's dogs, and each has a unique and special routine and they have all come to trust me a look forward to visiting. I stay a bit at some of my friend's houses if they want me to help with house watch, plants, delivery receipt and other home needs while they are traveling and away on extended trips.
“Our doodle had a fun time with Jessica for the 3 days we were having fun skiing! It's always insightful to see a dog's reaction after the first day of Doggy Day Care and our pup was very happy to run up to Jessica each day. Jessica was great with human communication as well and made all the logistics easy for us with prompt communication. We really appreciated that our high-energy pup got lots of playtime since we didn't have much energy for a long walk after a day on the slopes. We highly recommend Jessica -- 4 paws up!”

“Chelsea takes such good care of our puppy! Rue and Goose are best friends and she always comes home worn out from playing all day! Rue is so excited to stay with Chelsea for the day. Chelsea has been very flexible with our schedule and we appreciate her so much!”

About: I’ve always had a love for animals but I adore having dogs company! I have two furry friends for them to play with as well! I currently work from home full-time I do leave for errands but it gives me plenty of time to love and play with your doggies! I have a large unfenced yard to play in, close to walking trails, and a neighbor with two friendly Aussies who love to play as well
“Danielle was a fantastic sitter for Oreo! She was incredibly responsive and her home is perfectly set up for dogs - I loved seeing the protective sheets on the sofa, a dedicated water station, and a secure yard for roaming. She kept us updated with photo and messages while we were skiing, which we really appreciated. Oreo came home happy and even smelled great! It’s clear she takes excellent care of her guest dogs. We will definitely be booking with her again when we’re back in Reno!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 428 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Washoe Valley. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Washoe Valley commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NV ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
