“Heather and Paul took care of our house, dog and two cats while we were away for three weeks. They provided daily photos and communications, and when we returned the house was in perfect condition, clean and picked up. They took great of our pets and we were very pleased!”

About: Aloha! I’m Nina — your devoted Kamuela pet sitter. Caring for animals is my way of life and my greatest joy. I offer attentive, full-service care that treats your pets like family and your home with heartfelt respect. Each visit is tailored to your pet’s unique personality and rhythm, maintaining their familiar routines and nurturing a sense of safety and ease. With years of experience and a deeply intuitive approach, I create a peaceful environment where your animals feel loved, understood, and cared for in every detail. Your furry family is in excellent hands with my experience and empathy. My schedule is intentionally designed around the animals in my care. I have the freedom to devote consistent attention to each pet’s needs and routine. I care for every animal as if they were my own. I follow your instructions and keep things calm and consistent so your pet are safe and relaxed. I’m always making sure they’re cared for and safe.
“We are always nervous leaving our two doggies with a new sitter, but Zakk's meet and greet went so well that we knew our pups would be in good hands. They took an instant liking to him and from the very first photos that Zakk sent, we knew that they would be well cared for while we were away. Hiring Zakk came with a couple of extra bonuses - one, he's an experienced dog trainer and not only did he walk our pups as requested, but in addition he provided individual care (extra walkies/runs) for them. In one week, he turned two barky puppies into well behaved, much less reactive critters. We are absolutely amazed at the difference one week with Zakk made for our fur babies. They are no longer barking their fool heads off at dinner time or when people/vehicles pass our windows. In addition to this amazing transformation, Zakk and his service dog provided socialization in our home which provided another learning experience for our dogs. Not only did they hang out together, they actually played with one another, which Zakk said was unusual and positive for all three dogs. In addition to the outstanding pet care, Zakk also did the laundry, watered the plants on the landing, and left the house in good shape. We highly recommend Zakk for dog sitting and hope he's available the next time we leave and need care for our pups.”

About: Aloha! I'm Shanon, a naturopathic physician who loves to take care of pets in people's homes. I began caring for my neighbor's cat when I was 10 years old, graduating to dog care in my teens. Since then I have done pet sits in many states and countries, seeing some pets through their lifetimes. My clients have included dogs, cats, bunnies, tortoises, snails, fish and birds. I have also cared for chickens and horses and am willing to look after small farm animals such as goats and sheep. If requested, I take care of gardens/plants, mail/packages and any other issues that may arise while you are gone. Want local or distance references? There are many. Please ask for them! I look forward to hearing from you. Aloha, Shanon Much of my work is online so that I can spend the maximum amount of time with your furry, feathered and scaled friends - I aim to be at home 75% of the time. I treat all pets as my own so they get the attention, love and care they deserve. My services can also include administering medication (pills, subcutaneous injections for cats, insulin shots etc). I strive for your home to be in the same, if not better condition than when you left, and for your pets to be as well-tended to when you are away as when you are home.

My days off are usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when I have full availability and flexibility. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions regarding routines, feeding, walks, and house rules. I’m respectful in clients’ homes and always make sure dogs are secure, comfortable, and calm. “Spencer took great care of our pups! He’s got great warm energy that put both of our dogs at ease right away and seemed happy and relaxed when we got back. He asked great questions and was attentive to all the nuances between the dogs/for our senior dog. He was communicative and sent us photos which is always nice when we are away. He took good care of the house, too!”

“Athena s the ultimate cat care giver! She is conscientious about sharing updates regarding how our cats have been doing in our absence. She is very supportive and easy to work with and has a relaxing presence which was a superb match for our cats. We could not have asked for more and will not hesitate to request her services again!”

About: Hi there! My partner and I are available for pet sitting and house sitting. Between the two of us we will keep your pet company and be able to take them out for regular exercise. I go trail running & we go biking regularly so high energy dogs will have plenty of opportunity for exercise. We are also very used to caring for senior animals and going at their pace. Administering medications are no issue for us. Matt works from home and I am studying nutrition so your pets will not be left home alone for long durations if time. My schedule is currently flexible so please reach out for availability. I work part time in Waimea but will be able to sit in other areas of the island depending on the day. We prefer to follow your pets routine to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I’m a regular trail runner and we enjoy biking so energized animals will have the opportunity for plenty of exercise. We’re also very happy for long and slow walks for the elderly. I tend to be very snuggly with all animals and will send many photos during our stay.
“Cathy was amazing! I was very nervous about leaving my babies and my house for an extensive period over the holidays, but Cathy did everything that she could to reduce my anxiety and make sure that the babies were happy. We talked daily and she sent pictures - this as well as interacting with them through the Furbo made me feel connected even thousands of miles away. By day two, I was not nervous any more and was confident that the babies were having a great time with their “grandma”. On Christmas, Cathy worked with my schedule so that I could see the babies “open” their stockings. Cathy even used some home remedies to address a few minor issues that they had been having (skin irritation etc) and went above and beyond in every way - the house was even cleaner when I can home than when I left. The babies are missing Cathy and we all look forward to the next time that we can share our home with her. She is beyond amazing!”
“I’ve never hired a stranger to stay in my house while I was away, so I was nervous, but Tana agreed to a meet and greet beforehand and after meeting her, I felt totally comfortable leaving the responsibility of our pets and home in her hands. She sent me pics of my dog throughout her stay and took great care of our home. I hope she enjoyed the job and agrees to come back!”

“Maja was great. She took excellent care through attentiveness and genuine care for our baby Nalani. Being only 5 months old, Maja did an awesome job and kept us in the loop the entire time. She left our apartment immaculate and would love to have Maja back again.”

“Jojo took great of our pups and our house! She sent pictures and updates regularly and the house was in better condition than we left it. My dogs love her so much, I swear they miss her already! Will definitely book again.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waimea walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waimea maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waimea choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
