Tana was super with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. She must have a way with cats, because our scardy cat, Lucy, who hides from everyone, came out to be fed and even let Tana pet her. Tana took our two boys (dogs) for walks after it cooled off in the evenings because neither one of them do well in the heat any longer. She sent pictures regularly and followed directions from our 5!!!! pages of instructions (yes, we're obsessed with our babies!). If you want someone that will take good care of your babies, Tana is the one to contact. Kathy and Wendy

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember! I have experience with everything from horses and livestock, to birds, reptiles and fish. I am currently working very part time (3 hours a day) at a Kennel. I am usually always home by 11 am and am only away from home for a very short time. I have a large fenced yard, but will crate or kennel pets while unsupervised for a very short amount of time. I spend a majority of my time at home with my own pets and hanging out in the yard.

Chelsea is great! Animals were instantly in love with her. She’s very kind and loving to my high maintenance pups. Chelsea sent pics and was good about communicating with me. And the house was clean when we got home. So thankful we chose Chelsea !! I didn’t worry at all.

Amanda did an amazing job!!! We have a senior dog who needs special attention with lots of love and encouragement. It was just our luck that the weekend Amanda stayed with our animals we had a storm come through and you know how animals are with heavy rains, thunder, lighting & high winds. Not only that, the storm created an issue that left us without phone, internet and TV service for the day, through the night. Amanda stuck it out and reassured us (with limited communication) that she was there for our Ohana. New to the Island she had never experienced our tropical storms and didn't know what to expect. But the next morning she contacted our communication provider and worked with them to restore the service. Upon our return our Home was clean, our Fur Ohana was calm and relaxed, and the Skies were Sunny :) There is no question, we would use Amanda again and again!! Highly recommend

About: Hi there! First off, I love dogs! I was raised with poodles once upon a time ago and I have had/have dogs ever since! Every dog I have ever had, whether it was my parents, siblings or my own, I have taught each and every one of them tricks and commands. I guess that comes to show I am really good with animals! I do have one pet already and her name is Kiwi. She is a five pound Maltese who loves everything and everyone! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I look forward to watching your fur babies! I am a stay at home mom- our Kiwi, who is a Maltese just loves making new friends and my girls just love doggies! We Live in Kona and we would absolutely love to take care of your fur babies. I live in a beautiful condo complex that is gated and my personal lanai is fenced in. We have access to a beautiful garden behind our condo that has a lovely walking trail that I take our current doggy on and she just loves it and I know your fur baby would too!

About: Hi there! My partner and I are available for pet sitting and house sitting. Between the two of us we will keep your pet company and be able to take them out for regular exercise. I go trail running & we go biking regularly so high energy dogs will have plenty of opportunity for exercise. We are also very used to caring for senior animals and going at their pace. Administering medications are no issue for us. Matt works from home and I am studying nutrition so your pets will not be left home alone for long durations if time. My schedule is currently flexible so please reach out for availability. I work part time in Waimea but will be able to sit in other areas of the island depending on the day. We prefer to follow your pets routine to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I’m a regular trail runner and we enjoy biking so energized animals will have the opportunity for plenty of exercise. We’re also very happy for long and slow walks for the elderly. I tend to be very snuggly with all animals and will send many photos during our stay.

About: Aloha! I’m a tradesman by day and animal-lover 24/7. I’ve had animals since i was born and know they’re more than pets, they’re true ‘ohana. Taking care of your ‘ohana isn’t a job, it’s a connection. I’d be honored to take care of your ‘ohana. I’ve volunteered at various shelters across a couple states; from quick walks to multi-hour hikes, from playing fetch to administering medication, i will treat them as my own. Mahalo! I do have a full-time job, as a carpenter, so i am occupied Monday thru Friday, from 6am-4pm. Any animal that needs to be let outside will be taken care of every morning, every afternoon, and at lunchtime if possible. We can discuss what kind of schedule would make you (and your animal(s) the most comfortable! I believe there’s no better comfort for an animal than being in their home. I find it more tolerable for animals to get used to a new person rather than a new person AND a new habitat. My commitment is to making your time away from your animals as smooth as possible for you and them.

About: I grew up with 2 Australian shepherds and I have shadowed a professional dog trainer. Although I have the most experience with Ausie’s, I am comfortable around all dogs that are friendly to humans :) I have also recently spent time getting to know cats and have fallen in love with them too! My schedule is not very set in stone right now. I have a lot of little jobs here and there but nothing full time. I will work to make myself available as much as possible. After September 21 I will start school but mostly online so I will still have free time. I am happy to accommodate to any specifications you have for taking care of your dog. I will not reward bad behavior and I will give your dog lots of attention.

About: I grew up on a small farm with many different animals. I’ve looked after a variety of animals since I was a child including rabbits, chickens, goats, ponies, frogs, sugar gliders, the list goes on. I have been training and showing dogs for a Labrador breeder since I was 9 years old and have experience with professionally showing and grooming dogs. I have a HUGE soft spot for cats. I have house sat for many people and have always been complimented on the quality of my care. With me, you can enjoy your time away from home knowing that your loved ones are safe and getting the best care possible. I work as a massage therapist in Kona town on Wednesday evening, and during the day Thursday-Saturday. My time away depends on how many clients book, with a maximum of 5 hours. I am very loving and kind towards all animals. I make sure they always have fresh water and get lots of pets (if they’d like). I will carefully follow the routine my client has in place and make sure their pets feel safe and comfortable in my care.

Colleen was a great last minute dog sitter for us (and first time trying out Rover). She sent photos of our girl Ruby throughout the weekend, played ball and snuggled hard. Our dog is older (11 years!) and gets anxious so it was lovely to have Colleen there. She was very communicative and friendly. 10/10 would recommend!

Bryan was very kind and loving with our pets. We were called away on an emergency off-island and could not give much notice of our need. He kept our home very net and tidy as well. My boys are two old men cats and are skiddish around most men but warmed right up to Bryan. I have a special needs cat who takes medication daily and Bryan was amazing with him. I would definitely recommend Bryan for all pet needs.

Angela is amazing, compassionate, gentle, caring, nurturing with my family member (pet). I rarely leave my dog so was very stressed out about doing so. We had a pet meet and greet first and I knew I had found the right person. She came inside and immediately sat on the floor to meet my little dog. Angela sent me photos and videos and when I returned, my dog was quite happy to be around her. This showed me, we made the right decision. End your anxiety and stress, use Angela. Highly recommend.

My dog absolutely loved Amanda! She was more comfortable with her than with any stranger I’ve ever seen her meet, and it was such a relief knowing she felt safe and happy while we were gone. Animals truly seem to gravitate toward her, and she has such a natural, empathetic way with them. She even went out of her way to buy Honey a toy, which was so thoughtful and sweet. She sent tons of photos and updates, was very thorough, and took wonderful care of both Honey and our home. She even left the house cleaner than we left it. I couldn’t recommend her more and will definitely be booking with her again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Holualoa

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Holualoa on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 72 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Holualoa. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Holualoa walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Holualoa maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Holualoa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Holualoa. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
