“Izchel was amazing! It was my first time using a dog/house sitter. She took great care of my 3 standard poodles. She stayed at my house with them & everything was neat & tidy & my dogs were calm & relaxed when I got home. She kept me updated while I was away & asked questions if she needed clarification. She went above & beyond, I will definitely use her again.”

“Spencer and his partner Ruby did an amazing job with our corgi Theo! If we could give them 10 stars out of 5 for the care they gave our doggo, we would! They are very friendly and enthusiastic, Theo loved them immediately. They kept Theo safe and happy, we even had neighbors tell us how well cared for our boy was while we were on our trip. We got daily updates and pictures, which we super appreciated.”

“Highly recommend Kaylee! She saved the day. We had a change of plans last minute and had be out of town longer and within 2 minutes she responded yes so we could stay and didn’t have to worry. She was constantly updating us on how Bentley was doing with pictures of their walks and playtime. We knew she took good care of him because he was so calm and happy when we got home. We will be using her again!”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember! I have experience with everything from horses and livestock, to birds, reptiles and fish. I am currently working very part time (3 hours a day) at a Kennel. I am usually always home by 11 am and am only away from home for a very short time. I have a large fenced yard, but will crate or kennel pets while unsupervised for a very short amount of time. I spend a majority of my time at home with my own pets and hanging out in the yard.
“Chelsea is great! Animals were instantly in love with her. She’s very kind and loving to my high maintenance pups. Chelsea sent pics and was good about communicating with me. And the house was clean when we got home. So thankful we chose Chelsea !! I didn’t worry at all.”

About: Aloha: My experience goes back to my childhood, where I helped my mother breed and raise Cocker Spaniel puppies. I have always owned animals, including cats during my college years, and our family has cared for goats, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. I am very comfortable with puppies and experienced in fostering their training process, committing to the consistency necessary for a dog's development. Furthermore, I have experience caring for elderly animals at the end of their life cycles, including administering medicine and providing extra care. I have also attended to animals with various injuries. My primary strength is maintaining consistent routines, which I believe is essential for helping an animal feel loved and safe. Regarding equine experience, I have basic ground work skills with horses and donkeys. As my children have been riding since age three, I have had many opportunities to groom, feed, clean hooves, and ensure there are no external injuries from the ground. I appreciate your time and consideration. Aloha: Our ohana owns a 3-acre property on the Big Island, where we are blessed with three outdoor rescue cats, three rescue dogs, and two Nubian goats. As a dedicated mother and wife, caretaking is truly my blueprint. Caring for animals and providing house-sitting services for a "staycation" fits perfectly with my passion for animals. It also provides me with a wonderful opportunity to take some time for myself to relax and rejuvenate. I love to excercise walking dogs is my joy. I love to nurture and cuddle animals . I am a mama of 2o yrs thus I am always detail oriented regarding health. Our ohana is currently blessed with three rescue female dogs, three female outdoor rescue cats, and two Nubian goats. As they are a vital part of our family, they receive a high level of love and nurturing daily. My responsibilities and experience in caring for them include: - Daily Care: Managing daily feeding schedules and ensuring all animals are well-nourished. - Exercise and Training: Taking the dogs on regular walks around the neighborhood and maintaining up-to-date training. I have also personally trained our puppies. - Health and Wellness: Regularly checking all animals for health irregularities, administering natural medications when necessary, and staying current on goat vaccinations. - Goat Management: Grooming the goats, cleaning the barn, and providing them with nutrient-rich supplements. We take great pride in providing a healthy and loving environment for all our rescues. Please let me know if you need any further information.
“Leana took such great care of, Watson. Kept him entertained and well looked after. I cannot think of a better person to watch my little guy when I’m away. Thank you, Leana. You’re amazing!”

“Amy was available at the last minute. She was able to work around her schedule to accommodate my request. She did a great job! My cat warmed up to her, which is no easy feat. I would use her again.”

“Maja was great. She took excellent care through attentiveness and genuine care for our baby Nalani. Being only 5 months old, Maja did an awesome job and kept us in the loop the entire time. She left our apartment immaculate and would love to have Maja back again.”

“We are always nervous leaving our two doggies with a new sitter, but Zakk's meet and greet went so well that we knew our pups would be in good hands. They took an instant liking to him and from the very first photos that Zakk sent, we knew that they would be well cared for while we were away. Hiring Zakk came with a couple of extra bonuses - one, he's an experienced dog trainer and not only did he walk our pups as requested, but in addition he provided individual care (extra walkies/runs) for them. In one week, he turned two barky puppies into well behaved, much less reactive critters. We are absolutely amazed at the difference one week with Zakk made for our fur babies. They are no longer barking their fool heads off at dinner time or when people/vehicles pass our windows. In addition to this amazing transformation, Zakk and his service dog provided socialization in our home which provided another learning experience for our dogs. Not only did they hang out together, they actually played with one another, which Zakk said was unusual and positive for all three dogs. In addition to the outstanding pet care, Zakk also did the laundry, watered the plants on the landing, and left the house in good shape. We highly recommend Zakk for dog sitting and hope he's available the next time we leave and need care for our pups.”

“Great person. She loved our dogs and we needed that to entrust them into her care. She also was very responsible as she watched them at our house in our absence. I would recommend her to anyone who truly loves their dogs.”

“We could not be happier with our experience. She stayed at our home for seven days (over the holidays!!!) and truly went above and beyond in every way. Our dog was clearly so happy, comfortable, and well cared for while we were away, which gave us complete peace of mind. On top of excellent pet care, she also took amazing care of our home. She took out the trash, started the laundry before she left, and left everything spotless. It was such a thoughtful touch and far more than we ever expected. It is rare to find someone so trustworthy, communicative, attentive, and genuinely caring. We would absolutely book her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet and house sitting care.”

“Gregory was amazing during his stay with our Frenchie! He took him on walks and little adventures and we’ve never come home from a week long trip to a more happy and healthy doggo!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 77 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kukio. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kukio walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kukio maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kukio choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kukio. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
