Sierra is wonderful. She’s calm and she handles dogs quite well. We hired Sierra for housesitting on Memorial Day weekend and she took care of our 80 pound labrador pitbull mix and our four month old Connie Corso puppy who is already over 50lbs and super energetic. She did a great job with both of them. We got home after 4 days and the house was clean, the dogs were happy, and the yard was clean as well. We enjoyed having her stay at our house and felt that our dogs were safe and well taken care of. We will definitely engage Sierra’s services again. You can trust that your fur babies will be happy with Sierra!! 😊

We used Alex for a second time in 2 months and I'm thrilled to give ANOTHER glowing report. All fur related tasks (and there are many) were handled with great care and farm tasks also. Thank you Alex!

We've had our share of pet sitters and Ashley was by far one of the best! We have a special case with our one dog having a lot of anxiety(when we're not around it's worse) and a cat with lymphoma that needs treatment and she managed to make sure they were loved and cared for. She stayed in our home more than we even expected to be there for them and even left them treats, toys, and a gift for me!! She was great and we will continue to have her if she will have us!

A+++ Harley was knowledgeable and mature, caring and trustworthy! We could not have found anyone more qualified to pet/house sit for us. There was not one moment of concern while we were away as to whether or not our pets were in good hands. She communicated every day with photos and messages showing how happy they were. We couldn't be more grateful for her service, her time and her attention shown in loving our dogs as if they were her own.

Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!

About: I have been around dogs my whole life. Dogs seem to take to me well. I’ve worked as a junior groomer for a few months and trained my own dog. Not professionally, but he listens and understands. I’ve always loved dogs and been an animal person! I have an almost 4 month old baby so I have been a SAHM. I love to work and would like to help my family more. This way I can be at home loving on my son and also your fur babies! We just moved into our forever home due to my husband being retired Navy. We got married in Hawaii where he was stationed and I grew up. Our neighborhood was military and I would watch peoples dogs, board, check ins, walks. I worked at a doggie daycare and became close with a client who would bring her dog over to me to watch instead. Also, became very close with some people in the neighborhood whom I’ve take care of their dogs and now can say are friends like family!

About: My experience comes from the real thing. I've cared for my friend's Greater Swiss Mountain Dog for weeks at a time, solo — handling walks, feeding, and everything in between. That's a big, strong dog, and keeping up with one builds genuine confidence. What I bring to every dog I sit is simple: I pay close attention. I take time to learn how a dog communicates, what makes them comfortable, and what they need to feel settled. Every dog has a personality, and I think it matters to actually get to know it. My approach is kind but calm and confident — dogs pick up on that quickly. I have a flexible schedule, which means I'm not rushing in and out. Your dog gets real time and real attention, not just the basics checked off a list. Pet care fits naturally into my current routine. I have a genuinely flexible schedule, which means I'm not squeezing your dog in around a packed day. I can be present, attentive, and available when it matters. When I'm in your home, I follow your lead. You know your dog and your space better than anyone, so I start by listening to your routines, your preferences, and any specific needs your pet has. I don't come in with a one-size-fits-all approach. I treat every home and every animal with respect. That means sticking to your dog's established routine as closely as possible, keeping the environment calm, and paying attention to how your pet is feeling throughout my time with them. My goal is simple: your dog should feel like not much has changed, just that a calm, attentive person is there with them.

About: I’ve had pets my whole life, and I understand what it’s like to leave them at home and miss them every second, wondering if they’re okay. I’ve taken care of dogs and cats from infancy to end of life, bad babies and anxious angels (a current description of my two cats), every one deserves compassion and love! I’m a manager for a small retail business during our slow season, so my schedule is flexible! Just let me know what your needs are so we can see if it would be a good fit, I’m very responsive. I am very happy to provide whatever is preferred to keep your babies happy! Playtime, mealtime, long walks, crating, etc is no problem at all.

About: I’ve always grown up around animals in a big, loving family that treats pets like family members, so caring for them has always come naturally to me. While I’m new to Rover, I do have hands-on experience caring for my own pets as well as helping family friends with dog sitting, check-ins, feeding, walks, playtime, and giving lots of attention. I genuinely love animals and enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality. I’m patient, kind, dependable, and committed to making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. Whether your dog loves energetic walks, belly rubs, or just a calm companion, I’m happy to match their needs and make sure they’re well cared for. I’m currently a college student and I’m the Army Reserves taking one summer class and working part-time, which gives me a pretty flexible schedule this summer. I have plenty of free time for dog sitting, drop-in visits, walks, and giving pets the attention they deserve throughout the day. I’m especially available for families who need reliable help during vacations, work hours, or busy summer schedules. Because of my flexibility, I can often accommodate different routines and make pet care a genuine priority. Your pet’s comfort and safety are extremely important to me. I understand how important trust is when someone else is caring for your furry family member, so I always aim to provide dependable, loving, and attentive care. In your home, I will respect your space, carefully follow all instructions, and keep your pet’s normal routine as consistent as possible. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, potty breaks, exercise, and behavior to make sure pets feel secure and happy. I believe in gentle care, patience, and creating a positive experience so both pets and owners feel confident and at ease.

About: I have been the go to in my family for watching animals. Everyone has different ways they live and our animals find comfort in routine. I have always done my best to meet them where they are and ensure their animals feel as comfortable as possible while the parents are away. I currently work full-time, so my availability is a bit thin. Overall I work approximately 10hrs a day. Which means I am only available early mornings and late evenings on work days. I have my own pets but my husband takes care of their needs while I'm not around. We aren't in a position to watch pets in our own home but outside of the time I need to work I am very flexible with my time. I do not offer boarding services. However, when taking care of another's pet before the service date(s) I gather as much info as I can. What is their routine? how much energy does your pet have? Etc. And I will do my best to accommodate. I try to take my own dogg out about every 2-4hrs and give her lots of love and attention. If yous animal has different needs from meds to high attention or even more frequent potty breaks I can work with those factors.

Ashley has been a wonderful caretaker for our puppy Linus! We are so grateful for her. Linus has separation anxiety and orthopedic problems and we felt 100% safe leaving him with Ashley. She is so attentive to his needs and clearly listened carefully and used the strategies we have found for keeping him calm as well as using her own (she honestly calms him down better than we do!). She was willing to go the extra mile and stay with him the whole time we were away (taking him with her when she needed to go out, as we had discussed) because he can't be left alone right now. She managed his meds and put on his orthopedic gear without issue. She was flexible when our travel plans unexpectedly changed and we got home very late at night. And the house was way cleaner than we left it when we returned! We will definitely be reaching out to her again--could not ask for a better experience!

We recently moved to the Raleigh area and were so lucky to find Caroline & Gavin on Rover and available for the weekend we needed care for our 2 dogs. We needed to be out of town for the weekend for our daughter’s wedding. Caroline & Gavin gave us numerous updates over the weekend and sent pictures. We felt so comfortable having them in our home caring for our dogs. We were able to relax and really enjoy the wedding without worry. One of our dogs is very nervous and unsure around new people. Caroline & Gavin were so calm and patient with her. They left our house in perfect condition too! We will definitely use them again!

About: Hanging out with pets is my favorite thing. I have been around dogs and helped train them my whole life. I know that a dog needs extra attention while mom and dad are away so I will be there to keep them occupied. I have an open availability and can be there whenever necessary. I have experience dealing with high strung pups who may have a touch of separation anxiety from dealing with my own furbaby. I will treat all pets as if they are my own and will make sure all their needs are met. I am in the process of obtaining dog sitting certificates and CPR certification so that I will be fully equipped. I look forward to working with you and your pet(s).

FAQs for House Sitting - Virgilina

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Virgilina on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 143 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Virgilina. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Virgilina walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Virgilina maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Virgilina choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Virgilina. On Rover:

  • 80% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
