Here’s a warm, polished review you could post: We needed someone to look after Rupert due to a change in our work commitments, and we’re so glad we found Olivia. Olivia was absolutely fantastic with Rupert. It was clear from all the photos and videos that he had an amazing time and really enjoyed spending time with both Olivia and Jasper too! Seeing how happy he was throughout the day gave us complete peace of mind. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and Olivia kept us updated with plenty of photos and videos. They really made me smile during my workday and reassured me that Rupert was having the best time. Thank you so much, Olivia, for taking such great care of Rupert. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with you again and would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.

About: We’re dog lovers who enjoy having dogs around. Bruno grew up with dogs being part of the family and, from a young age, was used to looking after them. I didn’t have the chance to have a dog of my own until a few years ago, mainly because I had previously lived in flats or rented homes where dogs weren’t allowed. Over two years ago, when we bought our own home, we started looking after dogs for friends and neighbours. We really enjoyed it and soon realised how much we wanted to have our own furry companion. So, six months in, we welcomed our little Faye into our family. Even after getting Faye, we continued looking after other dogs. It’s been a lovely way for her to socialise with different dogs, while also giving us the chance to meet more four-legged friends and their owners in our local community. We’ve looked after dogs with a wide range of personalities — from excited young pups who need plenty of attention, play, guidance and boundaries, to older dogs who prefer a quieter environment and a slower pace. We know that every dog is different, so we are committed to adapting to their usual routines and needs as much as we can. Most importantly, we want every dog staying with us to feel comfortable, safe, cared for and part of the family. I work from home and Bruno is currently home all day too, so your dog will not be left alone. As we also have our own dog, feeding, walks, playtime and cuddles are already a integral part of our day. We would start by introducing your dog to our home environment and giving them some time to feel comfortable and settled in. We’ll always keep their safety and wellbeing in mind and make sure they feel secure in their new environment. We understand that trusting your dog to someone can be difficult and feel like a big decision, especially for the first time. So we want to make sure we provide a calm, caring and safe environment for all dogs staying with us. To give you some peace of mind, we are happy to send updates 📸 as frequently as you’d like. We can agree on this together when making the booking. We only take dogs from one household at a time, to ensure they get all the care and attention they need, while also reducing the risk of dogs not getting along with each other, becoming anxious around unfamiliar dogs or having interactions forced upon them. As we are always home, your dog will never be left alone and will have plenty of company and attention. Because we have our own dog, Faye, we take introductions seriously. Faye is very friendly with all the dogs she comes into contact with, but we never expect two dogs to become best friends immediately. We allow them to meet calmly, give them time to get used to each other and always pay attention to their body language and comfort levels. We are also able to keep your dog and Faye separated within the house if they need some quiet or alone time. Our Home & Environment 🏠🌳 Our main living space is an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area leading to a fully enclosed garden. Providing it’s not raining or extremely cold, we tend to keep the door to the garden open so dogs can access the garden whenever they like. We also have at least three different parks within walking distance of the house, and a couple of others within a 5–10 minute drive.

About: Friendly, Responsible & Caring - Here for your Home-Sitting, Dog Walking & Pet-Caring peace of mind & needs! I am a 48 year old, professional female, with my own location-free business. My life and lifestyle means that I can be anywhere in the world, and take breaks whenever I can and choose. I love adventure, am used to adapting to new people and situations (I've lived and traveledin many countries), and love new experiences. :) I have come back to the UK after having returned to the US in 2018, and previously lived in the UK from 2002 to 2016 - and spent close to 4 1/2 years travelling around Europe, the US and UK, primarily while house and pet-sitting for home owners and their families. I am here to help you - to give you assurance and peace of mind as YOU travel and experience new things, too! I am here to be of service as you vacation, holiday and take time away! (**A quick note to please ensure you let me know any house rules at the start of each house sit position - I will remember to ask as well! - to save any potential misunderstandings that could lead to difficulties :) ) Any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know and get in touch. I thank you for your time and look forward to being a part of your home and pet-sitting needs! Why I want to house sit I have been home and pet sitting professionally since 2015 (and taking care of fur babies far longer :) ), and love every single new experience and opportunity that comes. I love the chance to see new and interesting places, as well as have city adventures near where I already live when those arrive also. I love the flexibility and chance to be of help and support to beautiful people (like you!) as well as their pets if they have any. (I am mildly allergic to cats, so consider assignments with cats on a case by case basis - I can take allergy medicine as needed, too.) I'm very happy to pet-sit and care for most animals during assignments - having grown up with family dogs, I also greatly miss having my own!) I am lucky in that my work affords me the time and flexibility to travel more, also, which means house-sitting and pet-sitting is a perfect accompaniment to it all. Anything I can do to also help YOU with peace of mind and assurance, so that you can just enjoy yourself and RELAX :) while you are away means the world. It's a win-win, for all of us and both sides, really! My experience Having grown up with pets I also miss not having my own - I look forward to being a caring friend and caregiver to yours, if you have them, while you are away at work, vacation and holiday, or during the day. I'm glad to take on local dog walking opportunities, for instance, and am very happy to assist with health care, medicine and so on if they need anything continued while you are away. (I also have dog obedience experience, and so am very happy to continue up any routine you have for the animal's consistency.) I am additionally very happy to help with any light household duties or gardening needs, so you can rest easily knowing those will also be taken care of for you. I have some Spanish and French speaking skills, and also greatly love the opportunity to test and strengthen my language knowledge. Therefore, non-English speaking locations will not be a problem for me, and I welcome and get excited with the opportunity when available! A responsive and responsible person, I am also very happy to give regular updates if you'd like, on how things are going and/or if there is anything that comes up that needs your notice - such as bills or any important phone calls and so on. I am very happy to assist with references should you like any, in addition to those on my profile here. When house and pet-sitting, I am able to give pets bathroom breaks as often as the owners wish. I have put in that I can do so every 0-2 hours, however I am happy to amend this to whatever you rather! I greatly appreciate your time, attention and consideration of me with and for your house and pet-sitting needs, and am here to help should you have any thoughts or questions you'd like help with. Thank you!! :) I work from home, and so as long as I have access to wifi, I can be anywhere in the world! This means that I can also be there for your home and furry loved ones - and be their substitute family while you are away! I house and pet sit in your home. This means that I'm able to give loving, responsible care for your home and fur babies - just like you! I replicate your routine, send you regular updates with photos, and give your furry loved ones the VERY best in fun, love and care! (Along with your home!!) All so that YOU can rest, relax and enjoy your time away - knowing all your loved ones are safe, loved and well cared for... For them AND you!!!

About: Since moving out, I’ve really missed having my family dog around, so I love any opportunity to spend time with a new furry friend! Whether it’s walks, playtime, training, or plenty of cuddles, I’m always happy to give dogs the attention and care they deserve. I work from home most weekdays, which means your dog will have lots of company, supervision, and flexibility in their routine throughout the day. I grew up with dogs and have always been very comfortable understanding their different personalities, needs, and behaviours. I’ve looked after a wide range of breeds and sizes, from small dogs to very large breeds. At the moment I regularly care for a Cockapoo, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and even a Great Dane, so I’m confident handling dogs with very different temperaments and energy levels. I’m patient with puppies and young dogs who are still learning, and I’m happy to reinforce basic training, routines, and good habits. I’m also attentive and gentle with senior dogs who may need a slower pace, extra care, or medication. Above all, I’m responsible, calm, and genuinely love being around dogs. I’ll always treat your dog like they’re part of the family and make sure they feel safe, happy, and well looked after. My home feels far too quiet without a dog around! I currently work from home in a flexible role, allowing me to provide care and attention to pets during weekdays. I can schedule walks/playtime/drop ins during breaks and lunch. I am also available in evenings and at weekends. I provide safety for pets in their own homes by ensuring i have a clear understand of the pets needs and the owner’s instructions. I engage with the pet to build trust and strengthen my bond with them.

Laura looked after my miniature dachshund brilliantly. It was my first time using the app, Laura put me at ease and sent lots of photos throughout the day. Zeus was clearly very comfortable with her, and received lots of cuddles. Laura took time to listen/ read Zeus’ needs as he has a few fears. We picked him up a very happy dog. I would not hesitate to book Laura again 😊

About: I owned two dogs when I was in Italy. I was responsible for caring for my dog since I was 13. My dog lived 15 years and the second is now 12 but he is in Italy with my sister. We went for walks in the forest and loved going to the park to play with other dogs. I have experience in walking different sizes of dogs. I also have 8 years experience in looking after guinea pigs. I have 2 cats that can be separated from pets boarding in a different room I am currently off work until the middle of July, so I will be at home most of the day. This means I can provide regular walks, plenty of playtime, toilet breaks, feeding, medication if needed, and lots of attention and companionship. Your pet will not be left alone for long periods and will receive consistent care throughout the day. Lots of cuddles and stimulation. Always supervised and have a pet camera. Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Gedling commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
