“Julie had our pup Hugo for a long weekend, and he came back so happy and relaxed. She kept us updated with wonderful photos and notes about what he had been up to that made us feel so comfortable and put our minds at ease. Hugo enjoyed long walks and exciting excursions and it was evident that he was genuinely comfortable with Julie and her family. We're thrilled with the care and attention Julie provided and can't wait to use her services again in the future. Hugo had a pawsitively wonderful time thanks to Julie!”

“Another fantastic extended stay with Maria for Nala! Nala is always so excited when we arrive at Maria’s, and from all the photos and updates, it’s clear how happy, relaxed, and loved she is, and how much fun she’s having too. As difficult as it is to leave her when I go away, it’s incredibly reassuring knowing she’s having the best time and being so well cared for 💕”

“Janet had a lovely home to take care of Lobo in. She was relaxed and friendly and Lobo who can be nervous when we leave her, was happy to be there. Janet took her plenty walks and took good care of her. Would definitely use Janet again.”

“Our golden retriever, Mabel, has just stayed with Jan and Bruce for just over a week. Their care of Mabel was superb. We received regular videos and photos and it was clear that Mabel was having the time of her life!! We have booked several more stays for Mabel with Jan and Bruce. I can’t recommend them highly enough!”

“Jack took such wonderful care of my little Pinta 🐶🫶 I could tell from the very beginning that she was in the best hands. He sent regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while she was away from me. Pinta is a very spoiled little girl and definitely needs a lot of attention and affection, so I’m always a bit careful about who I leave her with. But with Jack I could see she was truly comfortable, happy and very well looked after. It meant a lot to know she was getting so much care and attention. I’m incredibly grateful and would recommend Jack to anyone who wants their dog to be looked after with genuine kindness and love. We will absolutely be coming back to him again. Thank you so much, Jack! ✨🐾”

“Suey is a wonderful dog sitter. I received regular updates and photos during my dogs stay with her and her partner, which made me feel reassured knowing my dog was safe and well looked after. Thanks Suey!”

“These guys are great and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a home from home for their pets!! Outstanding so much so my little Fig is missing them 😢 ❤️ he will definitely always go to them when we go away again.. Thank you 😊 xxx”

“Papaya loved her time with Sarah. I was updated regularly with photos and messages. Sarah and her family are absolutely great and I am so happy I found d an absolutely great sitter for my dog.”

“Archie bounded to Ross’ front door, very excited, when I dropped him off and One very happy dog came home today. Archie seems to be so settled and at home with Ross and Clara. They send me regular updates and pictures. Home from home. Thanks guys 🥰🐕🦺🐾”

“Sewwandi did such a great job with Bevo. They sent several pictures & videos and she communicated a lot with us providing updates throughout the day. Bevo didn’t have time to miss us between the walks and play time with their sweet little Boston, Poppy. They sent a few updates that let us know they were treating Bevo like she was their own. A week or so after her stay, we bumped into Sewwandi on a walk and Bevo lost her mind she was so excited to see her! I would recommend Sewwandi to anyone looking for a Rover!”

“I had only good experiences in rover so far, and mostly gave 5 stars to every person that took care of my pets. May gave a different meaning to 5 stars! She took my puppy Lola and took care of her like it was her own, designed a schedule with activities and gave her the attention a puppy needs (playing, stimulating activities, hygiene, etc). I have to say my puppy was better trained in every aspect when she returned home. In the end, May still gave us a document with tips for training. May was also very accommodating with late booking modifications which I cant thank enough! It was a fantastic experience and I plan to repeat it!”

“Elsa had a wonderful visit with Fern. It was her first stay away from home and she came back happy and tuckered out. Fern kept in touch with pics and info about Elsa and I could see what a good time she was having. I couldn't have been happier. Fern clearly understands and loves dogs. I would definitely book with Fern again!”

“Amazing experience - we were so nervous to leave our pup Henry for the first time, but he had such a wonderful week at Alix’s - came back super happy - oh and we so relished the photos that Alix sent throughout the week ?”

“Wade and Michelle took amazing care of our very nervous and quite high maintenance dog, Cookie. They very kindly met Cookie in advance, and during the stay sent regular updates and photos of them on walks and snuggling on the sofa. They are a lovely family and we will be using them again.”

“Adam and Shannon were great with our miniature schnauzer Tess. We had a pre-visit which was really helpful to chat and see how she would settle. Communication was good before and whilst we were away. Tess was very happy on our return so we will definitely be booking again.”

“I felt really comfortable leaving Floki with Stephen and family, seemed like a home from home for Floki. He seemed to love it and got on well with their dog. I would be more than happy to ask Stephen to look after Floki again.”

“We’re so grateful to Kris and Nick for looking after our dog. From our initial meeting with them, we felt relaxed and confident that she’d be well looked after and treated like their own. We appreciated the updates and great communication throughout. We will definitely use Kris and Nick again!”

Bobby had a wonderful stay at Ferns. The welcome was well organised allowing me time to discuss Bobby’s ways and introduce him. I was put at ease straight away as there was clearly a professional understanding of dog behaviour and care. I will definitely be visiting again and I am so relieved to find such a trustworthy dog minder. Excellent

Lauren and her partner, Tom, were brilliant with my Staffy. They were very welcoming and accommodating and clearly love dogs. Their property is very dog-friendly and I had great peace of mind knowing she was in safe hands. I’m thrilled to have found them and will hopefully be rebooking in the future! Thanks

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
