“Julie had our pup Hugo for a long weekend, and he came back so happy and relaxed. She kept us updated with wonderful photos and notes about what he had been up to that made us feel so comfortable and put our minds at ease. Hugo enjoyed long walks and exciting excursions and it was evident that he was genuinely comfortable with Julie and her family. We're thrilled with the care and attention Julie provided and can't wait to use her services again in the future. Hugo had a pawsitively wonderful time thanks to Julie!”

“Another fantastic extended stay with Maria for Nala! Nala is always so excited when we arrive at Maria’s, and from all the photos and updates, it’s clear how happy, relaxed, and loved she is, and how much fun she’s having too. As difficult as it is to leave her when I go away, it’s incredibly reassuring knowing she’s having the best time and being so well cared for 💕”

“Janet had a lovely home to take care of Lobo in. She was relaxed and friendly and Lobo who can be nervous when we leave her, was happy to be there. Janet took her plenty walks and took good care of her. Would definitely use Janet again.”

“Our dogs have just spent their first over night with Janet and Bruce and they were just great . Lots of photos to reassure me the dogs had settled and I know our dogs were in good experienced hands I am already looking to book another date”

“Suey and her partner gave a loving home and a fun company to Chase. They were happy to have an introductory meeting before the actual date and kept me updated very well with messages and lots of photos. I’m sure Chase enjoyed his time with them and we will come back again if they will be available. Thank you, guys! ☺️”

“Wonderful family to look after your dog! We Had lots of updates and our dog Terry made himself at home with Sarah and family very quickly! In fact I’m pretty sure he copped a strop when we bought him home because hes been missing his little friend Rudi. Thank you so much for having him, would definitely recommend and would definitely use again 🙂”

“Sewwandi did such a great job with Bevo. They sent several pictures & videos and she communicated a lot with us providing updates throughout the day. Bevo didn’t have time to miss us between the walks and play time with their sweet little Boston, Poppy. They sent a few updates that let us know they were treating Bevo like she was their own. A week or so after her stay, we bumped into Sewwandi on a walk and Bevo lost her mind she was so excited to see her! I would recommend Sewwandi to anyone looking for a Rover!”

“Ross and Clara took excellent care of Luna whilst we were on holiday for a week. She had a great time! She has to take allergy tablets each evening and this was no problem for Ross and Clara to manage. Lots of picture updates whilst we were away too! Highly recommend 😁”

“Elsa had a wonderful visit with Fern. It was her first stay away from home and she came back happy and tuckered out. Fern kept in touch with pics and info about Elsa and I could see what a good time she was having. I couldn't have been happier. Fern clearly understands and loves dogs. I would definitely book with Fern again!”

“Alix and her sweet pup Toby took great care of Isla during her overnight stay. Alix's garden and surrounding open areas are great for lots of exercise. We got frequent pictures and updates, so I was confident our doggo was doing well.”

“May is simply amazing with our dog Sunny. She is superb in communications and sent us loads of video and picture updates throughout the day. She is also a qualified trainer and extremely kind and patient. Highly recommend May to anyone who wishes to have a dog sitter!”

“Adam and Shannon were great with our miniature schnauzer Tess. We had a pre-visit which was really helpful to chat and see how she would settle. Communication was good before and whilst we were away. Tess was very happy on our return so we will definitely be booking again.”

“Sasha and her partner Hayden were amazing right from when I reached out to book the stay. They came to meet me for coffee so I could ask all my questions and put my mind totally at ease. Sasha sent us lots of messages over the stay with updates and pictures of Hugo which was lovely. Hugo felt very at home with them as even when I came to pick him up he was still trying to play with them. It was very obvious that Hugo has an amazing time and we will definitely call Sasha next time we go away!”

“Wade and Michelle took amazing care of our very nervous and quite high maintenance dog, Cookie. They very kindly met Cookie in advance, and during the stay sent regular updates and photos of them on walks and snuggling on the sofa. They are a lovely family and we will be using them again.”

“I am very happy to have found Kristina and Nick, they are both lovely and I knew I would feel comfortable leaving Phoebe with them - which is a big thing for me - I am very fussy about who I trust to look after my fur baby 🐾 Good communication and regular updates. Phoebe was well cared for and I have booked again! Thank you 😊”

“Sam had another brilliant stay with Golnar. We could tell from the updates that he was happy and settled, and very well looked after by Golnar and her husband. Lots of play and attention and Sam's next stay is already booked in. Thank you!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Cambridgeshire
Bobby had a wonderful stay at Ferns. The welcome was well organised allowing me time to discuss Bobby’s ways and introduce him. I was put at ease straight away as there was clearly a professional understanding of dog behaviour and care. I will definitely be visiting again and I am so relieved to find such a trustworthy dog minder. Excellent

Lauren and her partner, Tom, were brilliant with my Staffy. They were very welcoming and accommodating and clearly love dogs. Their property is very dog-friendly and I had great peace of mind knowing she was in safe hands. I’m thrilled to have found them and will hopefully be rebooking in the future! Thanks

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
