Remy has had the best time with Pam. Regular updates during her stay were so lovely. She was taken on long walks, treated as a family pet and obviously felt very at home. Such a nice calm environment, absolutely perfect for Remy! We will definitely be booking Remy in again and highly recommend Pam as a sitter. Thanks so much for your kindness

Janet and Bruce are just extraordinary. Their love of dogs is reflected clearly in the care and attention they gave my boy. I was nervous to leave my dog as he’d only been away from me once before, but I have no hesitation in saying I would ask them to watch Jack again in a heartbeat. They are calm and experienced, and sent photos and videos during his stay, as well as making sure he was happy as can be with lots of exercise, play, and cuddles. It was obvious how much Jack loved his time there when it was time to collect him, too. I highly recommend them if you want a couple who will care for your dog(s) as if they were their own. I couldn’t be happier and wish I could give them extra stars! Thank you both so much.

I found it very hard to part with my dog for Christmas but I am so grateful that Sandra was available to take care of her for us. Sandra is experienced, knowledgeable, caring, warm person and her reassurance made all the difference when we left Zelda for a week. She kept us updated and went out of her way to fix Zelda’s eating issues. Because of Sandra we didn’t have to worry and Zelda had a great time. We are so lucky to find Sandra and we will be coming back ❤️

Absolutely brilliant! Sharon is very experienced and her love of dogs is obvious. This combination means she provided a real home from home for our two dogs while we were away for two weeks. So much so that we think they may have had a better holiday than we did! We will be using Sharon again, no doubt whatsoever.

This was the first time I’ve left my puppy overnight and I was apprehensive. Linda calmed me on our initial meeting and when it came to leaving her. She kept me updated and sent lovely photos. Paisley was extremely well cared for and spoilt with attention. I would certainly ask Linda to look after Paisley again and would highly recommend her to all.

I am very happy to have found Kristina and Nick, they are both lovely and I knew I would feel comfortable leaving Phoebe with them - which is a big thing for me - I am very fussy about who I trust to look after my fur baby 🐾 Good communication and regular updates. Bobby had a wonderful stay at Ferns. The welcome was well organised allowing me time to discuss Bobby’s ways and introduce him. I was put at ease straight away as there was clearly a professional understanding of dog behaviour and care. I will definitely be visiting again and I am so relieved to find such a trustworthy dog minder. Excellent

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
