I could not recommend Susanna enough! Mature beyond her years, she was fantastic with our 10 month old puppy, such as making sure to keep up our puppy’s training when out on her walks. Our dog is sadly struggling with health problems at the moment and Susanna made sure we were regularly kept updated on how she was doing, alongside keeping a keen eye on our pup to make sure she didn’t need her pain medication. Our pup fell in love with Susana and we are already looking at ways she can stay over with her again!

We were absolutely delighted with Philippa and David as our dog sitters. From the start, they put us at ease by sending lots of photos and regular updates about our dog, who was clearly having a wonderful time in their care. It was such a relief to see how happy and relaxed Milo was while we were away. Not only did they take excellent care of our dog, but they also kept our home spotless and even went the extra mile by watering our plants. Coming back to a well maintained house and contented dog made our trip stress free. We’d happily recommend Philippa and David to anyone looking for truly thoughtful and responsible sitters.

About: I have been an animal lover my entire life and I am hoping to work with animals as a full time job in the future. I am currently studying Animal Management at college and am hoping to go to university next year to study Veterinary Physiotherapy, so that I can achieve my dream of helping animals. I have previous work experience at the RSPCA looking after a range of dog breeds, including larger breeds like Huskies and Cane Corsos as well as small breeds like Chihuahuas and Terriers. During this experience, I have helped to walk dogs, clean out kennels, feed and play with dogs. I have also gained experience working with cats, rabbits, birds and other small animals at the RSPCA. I currently have a dog, who is a springer spaniel x poodle called Doodle, and a cat, called Pancake. I spend much of my free time taking Doodle on walks and playing and cuddling with her and Pancake whenever they want to. I have also on many occasions looked after pets of friends and family, including labradors, spaniels, jack russells, beagles, cats and rabbits. I am currently a student and am at college 3 days per week. I typically have full availability on weekends and am usually free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as most evenings. The safety of your pets will always be my number one priority and I will ensure that I keep an eye on them so that they are safe and happy. I will listen to, follow and respect any rules or boundaries that you have when looking after your pets to keep both you and your pets happy and comfortable.

Elinor was fantastic house sitting our 7 month old golden retriever puppy over the 3 days! We were delighted with the care she gave our golden retriever puppy. Puppies can be quite a handful, but she was patient, kind, and clearly cared for her as if he were her own. We came home to a happy, relaxed puppy and a tidy house, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. She kept us updated with messages and photos throughout our trip, and her communication was excellent. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring house sitter, and we’d happily ask her to sit for us again.

Ellie was really lovely, and accommodating - doing a last minute sit for me when I was going to stay with a friend. I never met her as she had to complete her work day before coming, but she found her way in smoothly and everything went blissfully. She sent me regular updates every couple of hours - unusually frequent, and I really enjoyed seeing my two having a good time - a little tug at the heart strings and a feeling of love every time I got a new photo. I’ve asked my usual sitters to send more frequent updates now! I’d thoroughly recommend Ellie and would have her back in a heartbeat! Thank you Ellie, from Sandra, Yola and Flo ☺️🐾🐾

About: I have always had pets as a child through to adulthood and I can honestly say I just adore animals! Growing up we had rabbits, dogs and a Bengal cat and nurturing each one of these adorable beings was everything. I now have a Maltese dog who is amazing. She is gentle and has a heart of gold. She has been neutered and is great with other dogs. I work from home so I am able to give all animals my full attention as well as taking them for walks and playing outside in the garden. We have a large house with a big secure garden so I am able to care for your pets at my home. You can be rest assured that they are safe here.

Kai came to our rescue and looked after our pets ( including my sisters dog ) for the Easter weekend, I cannot recommend Kai more highly, you can tell he loves animals, he was very intuitive and empathetic with our doggies ( who can be slightly neurotic !) and as soon as he walked in they came to him and then wouldn't leave him alone ! He's a kind, calm and gentle soul and he also looked after the cottage very well, sent us regular pics and updates so we could relax knowing the pets were ok and he had things under control. We wholeheartedly recommend Kai and will definitely be booking him again. Thanks Kai ... you are a superstar 🌟

About: I go for a 1-1.5hr walk every day and thought it would be nice to have a walking companion that also allows the dogs to get out and enjoy the fresh air. I have grown up around dogs. When I was a baby, our family had a springer spaniel that was with us for 13 years. After that, we adopted a Weimaraner (Murphy) who was a loving part of our family for a long time. Murphy was a dog with some behavioural issues which gave me an education in dealing with dogs of different temperaments - and sizes! I now live on my own and while work doesn’t enable me to properly look after my own dog, I saw this app as an opportunity to still be able to be around them. I have also looked after friends dogs in the past with breeds ranging from Malinois and German Shepherds to Rottweilers and English Bulldogs. Currently self-employed before moving back home to Bermuda at the end of this year. My average day involves waking up, going to the gym, cooking lunch, doing some work at my computer for a couple hours, before going for a 1-1.5hr walk/jog every day. I would be more than capable of looking after a dog between 12 and 5 every day, including taking your dog along for the walk/jog. I currently live in a house-share and while I wouldn’t be able to look after your pet overnight in my own home. I would be capable of looking after them in your home. I believe in leaving things how I find them and would be happy to also assist with minor tasks around the house. For example, unloading a dishwasher, hanging clothes to dry, dusting or vacuuming. I like to stay active and would enjoy playing fetch, tug of war, or any activity with any pet, as long as they were up for it!

About: Have always grown around dogs, since I was tiny all I’ve know is dogs. Taking responsibility of walking them, bathing them, feeding them, learning what to look out for in emergency. I have lots of experience with nervous and anxious dogs having been thrown into the deep end when our kooikerhondje puppy became reactive and extremely anxious over everything. So I am confident in dealing with dogs with such characteristics and understand all dogs are unique and no one dog will work the same or enjoy the same things. I’m currently on a gap year and having travelled I am now at home for the summer so have plenty of time to devote to dog care. Having no work to do in the day I can ensure all my time is spent with your furry friends. I have a spacious enclosed garden with a dog flap for medium/small dogs to take themselves out day or night. A flowing supply of water and comfy sofas for a good nights sleep.

I had Susanna look after my two chihuahuas while I was away for a few days. She's kept me updated frequently with photos and videos of my doggies. They're far happier spending time at home and going for walks with Susanna than being at the kennel. I'm very happy I made that choice and hope she can look after my dogs again when she's available.

What can I say? Rush to book Charlie! He was simply brilliant - kind, gentle, considerate and really went the extra mile when I accidentally locked Florence in my therapy room before I left 🤦🏻‍♀️. Charlie sorted everything out beautifully, calmly, responsibly, with good humour and with no fuss. (Florence was fine by the way!). Yola had bad experiences with men before she was rescued, and has taken time to trust again - particularly young men. So, this was on my mind when for the first time she had a male sitter alone, with no female partner. I needn’t have worried. On my return Yola was in such a good mood - which is unusual after I’ve been away, even for a couple of days. He really is a find, and I will be booking him again for certain. Wishing you well in all your endeavours Charlie!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Cambridgeshire on Rover is £41.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 745 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Cambridgeshire. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred East Cambridgeshire walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Cambridgeshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
