She took amazing care of my dog Maverick during drop-in visits. Showed up right on time, sent photos and detailed updates every visit, and you could tell Maverick warmed up to her quickly. It’s such a relief knowing he’s in good hands while we’re away. Will definitely be booking again!

Isabella is hands down the best pet sitter I’ve had the privilege of hiring. She was very flexible with my last minute needs, her communication is top tier, and If there was ever a problem (my fault) she was good at letting me know. My puppy is a big fan of her per the daily photos I received. She has won me over as a repeat client and I look forward to taking another trip without the stress of worrying about my puppy’s needs. Thank you again, Isabella! (:

About: I have over 5 years of pet-sitting experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. What sets me apart is my attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to making pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I have experience caring for senior pets and administering medications according to their specific needs. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to provide personalized care, whether that means maintaining a consistent routine, offering extra patience to older pets, or ensuring active pets get plenty of exercise and attention. My goal is to give pet owners peace of mind knowing their pets are in caring and capable hands. As an Interior Design student at the University of Alabama, I maintain a flexible but structured schedule that allows me to balance my academic responsibilities with my part-time job. While classes and work keep me busy, I make it a priority to stay organized and manage my time effectively. This flexibility allows me to provide dependable pet care, ensuring pets receive the attention, exercise, and care they need while their owners are away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I strive to keep their routine as consistent as possible to help them feel comfortable and secure. I follow all feeding, exercise, medication, and care instructions carefully while providing plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship. I make sure pets have fresh water, a clean environment, and the care they need throughout each visit. I also keep owners updated with photos and messages so they can have peace of mind knowing their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while they are away.

About: Hi pet parents! My name is Becca, and I have been pet-sitting for 8 years. Throughout that experience, many pet parents of varying ages have entrusted me with their furry children. I adore caring for animals, as I have a sweet orange cat of my own! I promise that I will give the same care and love to your pet that I give to my own little one. I currently work part time, and I am usually off at the critical times when I would need to drop in to feed your pet! I am always able to adjust my schedule to fit the times you will need me, especially in advance. The biggest thing for me when caring for my pets as well as your pet is to prioritize quality time with them. In addition to food of course. I make sure to spend as much time with my pets as I can, as they definitely notice when you're not interested in spending time with them. "Most importantly, I will try my best to make sure your pet is comfortable and not stressed. Trust between myself and my clients and their pets is essential!

About: I have 3 dogs myself and I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was 13. I’ve played with, walked, fed, bathed my neighbors, friends, and families dogs for years. I worked at a pet store for 2 years learned how to read and take care of dogs. I love all types of dogs! I work part-time in the evenings, so I have plenty of availability during the day for dog walks and drop-in visits. My flexible schedule allows me to provide reliable care throughout the week, and I’m committed to being punctual and making sure each pet gets the attention, exercise, and care they needs! I prioritize every pet’s safety and comfort by following the owner’s instructions closely, using secure leashes and harnesses during walks, and ensuring gates and doors are always properly closed. During home visits, I’ll provide fresh water, feed pets as directed, give them plenty of attention and exercise, and make sure the home is left exactly as I found it. I’ll also keep owners updated with messages and photos so they know their pet is happy and well cared for!

About: I have many years of experience with dogs and other pets of all kinds. I was a sitter for many local families and their pets were always taken care of and loved. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away, and I always treat every animal like my own. I am a college student completing my work online. I am home full time spend most of my dog spending time with my dog polar. I have a quiet house for dogs who prefer a more peaceful environment but I also have a fenced in park area where I sometimes spend the day at for more high energy pets. The environment is very safe and your pets will be watched and safe at all time.

I would definitely use Mary Paige again!

Anna was very sweet and patient with our three animals. One dog was a bit hesitant the first day but Anna was incredibly patient and got the dog to love her. Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Tuscaloosa stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tuscaloosa. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
