Lillie took care of our dogs during a wedding, drove them to the venue when planned, even dressed them and kept them for us until the end of the celebration. She was reliable, easy to connect with the dogs and handle them. She was creative when problems presented themselves, I cannot praise her enough!

Isabella is INCREDIBLE! So communicative, kind, and caring. She provided updates and adorable photos of our animals each day we were away. She was also kind enough to tend to some of our plants! I was able to rest easy knowing our home and its inhabitants were in her care. I would definitely recommend Isabella for anyone’s fur babies and intend to book her again!

Ellie did an amazing job watching our home and caring for our dogs while we were out of town. I have a dachshund who is extremely picky on who she likes, and she absolutely loved Ellie unlike any other dog sitter we have seen. She is extremely communicative and we will absolutely be reaching back out to her.

Dixie and her husband took care of my 5 mos old puppy for 7 days. They took care of Kirby like he was theirs. At one point Kirby had a bad night( anxiety from his parents leaving) and her husband stayed up with him most all night just trying to keep him happy and make him feel safe I will definitely use them again. Dixie stopped by a few days later to pick up something she had left and Kirby went crazy when she came in. He was very excited to see her and was jumping all over her so I would take that as his seal of approval too.

Tia was amazing with Teddy while we were staying at our hotel. He loved her from the moment they met and was happy and comfortable the entire time. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such great hands. We picked up a happy pup, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Tia!

About: I grew up with a house full of dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds - you name it and we had it. I was always the neighborhood kid who took care of the neighbors pets. As an adult, I’ve had cats and several breeds of dogs, including several who have not been dog-friendly, some who were runners, and one Shepard who I couldn’t ever fully trust with other humans. I’m clean, quiet, and super respectful - full introvert - and I work from home with a relaxed schedule - so all of these things kind of line up for me to pet sit! I’m very professional, I own a company and do all of the work from home and we have a very high reputation for professionalism, which starts with me. I’m also an EMT (I pick up shifts on occasion but never when I’m pet sitting), which means, I take safety and healthy very seriously and you have to pass an intense background check to stay certified (at the FBI level) and so you can rest assured I don’t have a hidden background. I’m also involved in my communities and am on the board of a nonprofit and volunteer for others. My main job is very easy going. I own a company and can work from anywhere I have good wifi. I rarely have virtual meetings that last more than 60 minutes and so I am able to closely monitor and/or walk/bathroom pets. I have EMS commitments on Mondays and occasionally other days- so just reach out and I’ll confirm my schedule. Safety, trust, and respect are some of the most important principles in this line of work and it has been a core part of my life and profession. The company I own is a travel company and we take customers to 35 countries around the world and so I fully understand how valuable safety and trust is. I could go on-and-on about how EMS is rooted in safety and trust, but I think this much is evident. I also take and send pictures daily and know how important good and open communications is.

About: I had two dogs growing up and one of the hardest parts of my life so far was both of them passing away. I loved them so much and I want to be able to give my love and care to other animals! I would love to go on walks/ play/ and take care of your animal as if they were my own. I feel there is a hole in me and it can be filled with taking care of animals. I know that may sound cheezy but I am an avid animal lover. Being able to take care of your animal would put a huge smile on my face ( and your) knowing they are healthy and happy in my care. I hope you choose me :) My schedule is pretty open and I am open to working with you to find a proper schedule to meet your needs! I am available for drop ins and overnight! I give lots of love and cuddle, watch them play, take them on walks, and of course feed them, and play with them. Administering medicine is also a skill I hold. Attentive to diets and specific needs such as needs for space, interactions with other animals etc..

About: I am a biology student at WCU focused on ecology, so I absolutely love animals. I’ve grown up with dogs and cats, but I also have experience with exotic animals. I’ve been dog walking and pet sitting for over 5 years, and it’s always been my favorite job! I work flexible part time jobs, so I am available both mornings and evenings, as well as weekends with notice! My current flexibility also allows for more daytime pet care, such as walks or check-ins. I have lots of experience with overnight pet care, and I know that trust is a big part of an animal feeling comfortable with a stranger in their space. I’m very calm and relaxed when I first meet an animal to give them space to come to me :)

Ginger is the best dog sitter we have ever used! Even before arriving, she texted us to let us know that she would be at our rental house an hour before requested to get familiar with our dogs. We have two young rescue dogs who love to play and can be rambunctious and Ginger was loving and gentle with them. She sent pictures each day and also texted to let us know how they were doing. Ginger followed every directive we left and went above and beyond by washing their dishes and toys each day. In addition to taking excellent care of the house and the dogs, Ginger also became our travel agent during our stay and gave us fabulous suggestions on places to visit from Asheville to Cades Cove. One day, we were a little late getting back because we went to one of her suggested sites and I texted her to apologize but Ginger immediately texted me back and said not to worry but to enjoy ourselves. She is a true professional and an incredibly caring person. When we return, Ginger is the only person I trust to watch my fur babies.

About: Growing up I’ve always owned dogs and I love taking care of my own dog who has high needs. I love walking dogs and always enjoy seeing new dogs roaming about. I have a very open schedule, and that is why I was ready to start with Rover to kind of control my own scheduling. My week is open for plenty of dog walks or dropping visits for pets. I am excited to start working with you. I have one dog and two cats. I walk my dog at least five times a day. She is a terrier and needs extra exercise. I have two cats who are indoor. I change their litter box weekly and scoop it daily. Keeping a good hygiene for cats is extremely important for your home so I value that very much. My pets names are Oreo for my dog Millie and pumpkin on my cats.

Really appreciate Amanda staying with out boys while we took a short little vacation. She took them for a swim in the river by our house and it's obvious that they were well taken care of while we were gone. She also sent us pics of them enjoying themselves while we were gone. It was also clear that she also took the time to straighten up the house and vacuum before we got back. Would highly recommend her and will definitely look to her again for our next trip.

About: I grew up with pets which ranged from dogs to cats to chickens to a horse. I currently have a 8 year old Boxer and 1 year old cat who I rescued from a shelter! I would love to have a goat farm one day and be able to do goat yoga. I enjoy being around all pets, especially dogs. I think that all animals are special and deserve to be treated with lots of love. As a pet sitter/walker, I can come visit with your pet to provide food/water, playtime, walks, any other care that is needed to support your pet(s)/family and provide lots of love! After our pets are family. I work full time at a school but school is out so I have more time to spend with your pets as well as my own! I can crate your pups if preferred. I can walk your pup and send you updated photos on how they doing! I will provide your pets with lots of love!

Chloe did an exceptional job watching our Dane. He was dealing with an injury and needed extra attention, a cone and medication and Chloe met all of his needs. This was our first time using Rover and being able to travel with peace of mind that our boy was at home made our trip so much more enjoyable. We came home to a very happy boy and a clean house. We will for sure be using Chloe on future trips and recommend her to any of our friends that have pets.

FAQs for House Sitting - Tuckasegee

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 197 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Tuckasegee. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tuckasegee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tuckasegee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tuckasegee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tuckasegee. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
