“Karen was an absolute 5 star cat sitter! She went above and beyond to care for our cat for 10 days that we were out of the country. She shared detailed updates every day with a lot of photos. On a really hot day, she even asked to turn on the air conditioning for our cat and went back to our place to do so after she had left. Our cat is very shy and standoffish and Karen was incredibly patient with her every day. We would definitely choose her again to watch our cat, and would feel very comfortable leaving her in Karen’s capable hands!”
About: I’ve been caring for pets since I was in school—neighbors and friends would often ask for my help and thank me with small tips, which I used to buy school supplies. Over the years, my love for animals grew, and I eventually adopted my own dog, whom I’ve been caring for for the past nine years. I offer flexible availability on weekends at any time of day, which can be especially helpful in case of last-minute needs or emergencies. I kindly ask that you notify me at least three days in advance for any pet-sitting requests. I prioritize caring for pets in the comfort of their own home, as familiar surroundings can help reduce stress. I also enjoy taking them for walks in their neighborhood to keep them active and happy. I would have flexibility on weekends at any time of the day for greater comfort or if an emergency arises. 2 days before let me know about day sitting. Thank you I would care for your pet in the comforts of their space, sometimes it is easier when they recognize the space and additionally take them out for walks in their neighborhood.

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life! I’ve had both dogs and cats for as long as I can remember and have been caring for different breeds on my own since my teenage years. Friends and family regularly trust me with their pets, and I’m also a proud dog parent to Bob and cat parent to Nathan! I truly love animals and would be delighted to care for your furry family members while you’re away. I’m a real estate agent serving Westchester, NYC, and Long Island, which gives me a very flexible schedule. While most of my showings are on weekends, I work remotely during the week and can be fully present with your pets. I’m happy to provide overnight care as well, so your furry friends (and your home) are safe, comfortable, and well looked after while you’re away. Your pet’s comfort and routine come first. In your home, I follow your care instructions closely — feeding, walks, litter care, medications, and of course plenty of love and playtime. I aim to keep everything feeling normal and stress-free while you’re away. If pets stay with me, they receive constant supervision, a clean and cozy environment, and lots of enrichment and attention. I’m very attentive to each animal’s personality and needs. I also send regular photo and video updates so you always know how your furry friend is doing.
“Lizette was a wonderful sitter during our recent week away. It’s been very reassuring to get her detailed updates and to know someone caring and responsible is checking in on the kitties and our home when we’re away. We’re so grateful for her time and highly recommend her.”

About: I have had dogs my entire life and currently have a 8 year old maltipoo named Ivy! My partner and I did Rover 6 years ago and loved it, so we’re back to meet more new doggies. I’ve cared for both big and small dogs, any size is welcome. We have a very spacious three bedroom townhome with lots of space. We have a large unfenced yard where the dogs can play on tie-outs. Love getting out and being active, so your dog and I can go on energetic walks or even runs with my partner. I work from home most of the week so my schedule is very flexible and happy to help! I’m currently working from home 2 days a week and my partner is home the other 2, so we will be able to offer a very flexible walk/potty schedule depending on eat dogs needs. My dog goes out every 2-4 hours and she gets lots of love throughout the day, but we have a backyard and are able to takes dogs for potty at any time! My backyard is unfenced on 2 sides a with a tree barrier on the unfenced sides, but we have many tie outs to make sure no one gets lost. I have lots of toys inside for playing and we treat all pets like they are our own. There is plenty of space in our 3 bedroom and 2 living room home and lots of dog beds for cuddling.

About: I have extensive experience caring for dogs of all ages, from playful puppies to senior dogs needing extra support. I grew up with at least 2+ dogs at a time and have cared for multiple families’ pets, and am comfortable with medication administration, senior mobility needs, and sticking to structured routines. This year I’ll be substitute teaching and with a flexible school schedule, I have plenty of time to give your pet the love, attention, and care they deserve — plus I keep owners updated with regular photos and messages. I will be working part time as a substitute teacher so I get out early and have afternoons and evenings free. Karen, We appreciate everything that you do so that we can enjoy traveling knowing that Renzo is in good hands. Sorry about the smoke alarms. All the batteries died at the same time! We are also going away the last week of September. Will send you request ASAP. Thanks, Julia

Vicenzza showed up on time and was reliable, communicative, and caring throughout the visit. She took great care of Tucker, and I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in good hands. The whole experience was easy and stress-free. I would definitely book with her again.

She was amazing! She did everything exactly as requested, including changing the pee pads, refreshing Oreo’s water, cleaning up after him, giving him his lick mat, and spending time playing with him. She also kept everything clean and followed all of my instructions perfectly. I really appreciated the care and attention she gave Oreo, and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in good hands. I would definitely book her again and highly recommend her!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
