“Britt did such an incredible job with our cat. It was evident our cat was in good hands by looking at photos and videos of the two playing and cuddling together. She went above and beyond in keeping our house clean and communicating. We will definitely be booking her again!”

“Jillian was wonderful! I always hate leaving my pup, but she sent lots of photos and kept us updated on how he was doing. She played and ran around with him. She also was very clean and the house looked great when we returned. I’ll definitely be having Jillian again in the future!”

“Anna was great with my 3.5 month old Australian shepherd mix! She was understanding and patient and flexible with her schedule! She was great at providing updates and photos. She also likes to train which is super helpful! Definitely going to use her services again!”

About: I was a dog walker back in college and loved getting to see my animal friends on a regular basis. I have more experience with adult and senior dogs but I can’t say no to a puppy! 🫶 I’m available usually after 10am and can drop in anytime. I can be busy on afternoons during the weekends but I’m mostly around to help. Very flexible and am willing to work with you on the best care for your loved one. Please give me clear instructions and i will be keeping you updated as much as you’d like, via texts and phone calls as needed.
“I feel totally comfortable leaving my 2 dogs and 1 cat in Mathias' care (housesitting for several days) . He kept me informed of how they were doing, and left the house very clean. Absolutely no issues. Would recommend him without reservation! Most importantly the dogs love him.”

“Amy is kind, caring, and attentive. My pets loved her. She is excellent and communicating and sending updates. She’s very generous and fair with her pricing and services. She will be my go to for any future housesitting/ pet care needs. Thank you Amy 😍”

“Trustworthy and developed a short but heartfelt connection with Paprika. To me that is most important. Reliable and spot on with communication. Definitely will recommend and hire again.! Thank you Cydney.”

About: I took impeccable care of my English Mastiff for over 10 years. More recently I have found joy in pet sitting for other people's dogs and cats in their homes. I work remotely and have a lot of scheduling flexibility, especially on weekdays. I'm available to stay in your home with your pet during weekdays. My other work (accounting/finance & admin) is done remotely anywhere I have reliable WiFi. My availability on weekends is very limited. I provide a calm, steady energy and will stay with your pet(s) in your home so they can remain in a familiar environment. I love taking dogs on walks.
“Simone had great communication and was amazingly flexible with our timing needs - during a holiday weekend on top of that! Having peace of mind while away was much appreciated. She was respectful and easy going. Would definitely have her back to watch my mischievous pittie anytime!”

About: Hello! Thank you for taking interest. I am an animal lover who is trying to make some extra money doing something I care about. I've been housesitting for about 4-5 years for mostly dogs and cats, but I have had the occasional snake or fish, even a pig once! I'm very excited to meet you and your pets! I work 9-5 Mon-Thur and I have half days usually ending around 2 on Fridays. I usually will have time on my lunch break to come home and check on my own pups and make lunch so I can guarantee pets will be well looked after. I am always willing to take dogs on walks and hikes or just play at home, whatever makes you most comfortable! I cannot have any more animals at my own house since we have two already we don't have the square footage for another, but I am available to come look after pets in your home! I love when clients leave, or text, a detailed list of what they expect of me when watching their pets, it always gives me the peace of mind that I'm taking the best care I can of them with the routines they are used to!
“Jordan was absolutely awesome!! I had to take a week long trip to visit my in laws for the holiday season and it always makes me nervous finding a good sitter for Archie, my 13 year old senior dog. Jordan was nothing short of phenomenal! I work from home and Archie is used to me being home a lot so Jordan shifted his schedule around to make sure that he was able to stay at my home as much as possible. He was super communicative throughout his entire stay, constantly kept me in the loop of things, and gave me lots of updates. Another thing I really appreciated was how punctual he was! I have had other sitters who took care of Archie and did just fine, but I really feel like Jordan went above and beyond. I told Jordan about cougars in the area and Jordan was extra careful to make sure that Archie was safe and secure in the home. The entire trip I had zero concern knowing that Archie was so well taken care of. Jordan cares about animals and it shows, and he also cares about his clients. I came home to a house that seemed even cleaner than before I left! Jordan is super kind, reliable, and trustworthy. He is the kind of sitter you want - especially if you have to take a trip for an extended period of time. I will 100% book with him again and recommend his services.”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life. I walk a malamute and husky a lot. I pet sit for smaller dogs too. I love walking dogs because it’s a good exercise for them I currently am still in high school I graduate in June so right now I’m available to walk dogs around 4pm. I drive so I can do a little far distance When walking dogs I walk them for an hour and I always bring water to make sure they get the water they need and don’t overheat

“Cynthia was perfect for my aging greyhound Sienna. Sienna connected with her immediately and ate well while I was gone...always a big plus. Communication was good. I would definitely use Cynthia again.”

“I can definitely say that after being gone for eight days I was very appreciative for what I came back to. I've had my challenges with the dogs so for someone to come in a take over for a week seemed a little daunting however Yolanda came through with 5 stars... I have no doubt the dogs were well taken care of as all instructions left were meticulously followed and the dogs were definitely well cared for not to mention the house was cleaner then I left it. There's nothing better then coming back from a vacation with well taken care of dogs. Would definitely recommend for worry free dog sitting”
“Juno warmed up to Jenna right away. Jenna did a great job taking care of Juno and had no problems with taking her on a walk. Loved the origami she left behind of Juno. So creative! Will rebook her services soon.”

About: I grew up with dogs and helped raise two labs (a chocolate and a yellow) with my family. I also have experience pet sitting for friends, family, and others in my community, caring for pets in their homes and making sure they follow their normal routines. In addition, I volunteered with a nonprofit rescue organization called Rescue For Pet Sake in Grass Valley, where I helped care for and socialize dogs. Through these experiences, I’ve become very comfortable with different pet personalities and love making sure animals feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m also very respectful of clients’ homes and always aim to keep things clean, follow instructions carefully, and make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable. I’m currently working part-time, so I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to care for your pets. I love spending time playing, going on walks, and making sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I follow all routines and care instructions carefully and can send updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing.
“Paola was great with my husky, Athena. I thought she'd miss me while I was away but Paola had won her heart:) She was really good about sending me pictures during my trip and communicating as needed.”

About: I know it is not easy to leave your dog in someone else’s care. As a dog parent of 15 years, I want owners to feel confident that their dog is safe, comfortable, and well looked after with me. I am certified in Pet First Aid and have hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes and ages, from puppies to seniors. I take the time to learn each dog’s routine, personality, and comfort level so I can care for them in a way that feels familiar and low-stress. Whether your dog loves long sniff walks, needs steady exercise, or does better with a slower pace, I tailor each visit to fit their needs. You will receive photo and video updates after each walk or visit so you know how your dog is doing. I would be glad to become a consistent, reliable part of your dog’s routine and am happy to arrange recurring walks or visits. I also have experience fostering and volunteering with dog rescue organizations, which has given me experience with many different temperaments and care needs. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine, and my schedule is flexible, including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and overnight stays. I recently completed my graduate degree in public health, so I am available to provide dependable, consistent care. When I care for dogs in their home, I try to keep things as familiar and consistent as possible. I follow your dog’s usual routine for walks, meals, play, rest, and any medications so they feel secure while you are away. I pay close attention to safety at home and on walks, including keeping dogs away from food or objects they should not get into and being mindful of their surroundings. I also let dogs warm up at their own pace and pay attention to their comfort level, personality, and energy.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Town Talk
My kitties are always so happy and relaxed when I come home and after Raina has been caring for them. It's clear to me that she is attentive and affectionate with my babies. Plus she was so kind as to bring them catnip as a gift her first time around. Absolutely wonderful house/cat sitter!

I adopted my large breed dog from the shelter, after he had lost his home of 7 years due to no fault of his. I had been told he howled all the first night in the shelter. When it was time for us to go out of town, I did a test board at a small boarder, thinking it would be less traumatic than a regular kennel, but he had a full-scale panic attack. The boarder suggested a home sitter. The first person we interviewed for a home sitter didn't work out, not a good match. What interested me in Caja was her experience in behavioral techniques, which I had found worked really well with our dog in helping him be calm and relaxed. After meeting Caja, our dog loved her. He behaved as if she were our daughter, who is away at college. Calm, in charge, playful, everything he loves. Caja took excellent care of our dog and cat, and we were so happy our dog was relaxed in his own home. I also found Caja receptive to hearing what behavioral techniques we used, and in reviewing the Halti collar we use with our dog. I will call Caja first whenever we next need a house sitter. We totally trust her with our house and pets. It was very easy to keep in touch with texting for status checks.
Natalie was prompt, professional, and warm with our two dogs. She sent us pictures of them along with some check ins. She went above and beyond to take great care of them and we especially appreciated the sweet note she left us after her stay. We will definitely use her again and heartily recommend her!

Our animals (and us too) feel spoiled when Louisa is taking care of them and our home when we are away. We know they are well tended to and loved. She sends photos that capture how happy our 4-legged family members are. And, the house is cleaned when we arrive home.
We desperately needed a dog sitter at the last minute, and I’ve never had a dog in my life so I had absolutely no idea who to turn to. We needed someone to watch our dog while we were in church, but everybody we know goes to church! So there was nobody we could ask to look after the puppy. Brie was amazing. Our puppy took to her right away, and she knew exactly how to meet the needs of a young puppy. We checked in on a regular basis on the camera, we’re very pleased with all that we saw. Thank you so much to Brie for saving the day

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Town Talk walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Town Talk maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Town Talk choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Town Talk. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
