It was a pleasure having Deborah sit with our 14 year old pup Dexter. Deborah quickly responded to our initial inquiry and met with Dex and I shortly afterwards. She communicated the day before her scheduled sit and arrived promptly at an agreed upon time. She asked all the appropriate questions about feeding, Dexter's daily routine, and what she could do to keep him comfortable during our absence. Deborah communicated during her sit to let us know that all was well. We returned to a happy dog and a tidy house. Would recommend Deborah and we will be using her services again.

Traci was super responsive and a great sitter! We had to change our plans last minute and she was understanding and willing to work with us so that our pets could be as well taken care of as possible. She sent daily updates with pictures and video that put my mind at ease and showed us how happy our dog Ellie was with her.

About: With 8 years of veterinary experience as a Veterinary Assistant and Certified Veterinary Technician, I provide compassionate, knowledgeable care for pets of all ages, breeds, and needs. I have experience with high-energy dogs, senior pets, puppies, cats, medications, and animals requiring extra attention. Growing up on a farm and being a lifelong animal lover, I understand the importance of patience, safety, exercise, and treating every pet like family. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine as a part-time commitment that allows me to provide reliable, attentive care while maintaining a flexible schedule. I prioritize making time for walks, drop-in visits, and personalized care based on each pet’s needs. With my background as a Certified Veterinary Technician, I am comfortable caring for pets with medical needs while providing the same patience, love, and attention I give my own animals. For drop-in visits and dog walking services, I focus on providing safe, attentive, and individualized care tailored to each pet’s routine and personality. During drop-ins, I ensure pets are fed according to instructions, have fresh water, receive any needed medications, and get meaningful companionship and playtime. I also take care of litter boxes or potty breaks and make sure the home is secure before leaving. For dog walking, I prioritize safe, structured walks that match each dog’s energy level and needs. I am experienced with high-energy breeds and focus on exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement. With my background as a Certified Veterinary Technician, I am comfortable recognizing changes in behavior or health and responding appropriately while keeping pets calm, comfortable, and cared for.

Maria is absolutely fantastic!! She was wonderful with our dogs and they are ALOT - one senior and one 60lb+ puppy. She sent us updates and photos and took the BEST care of our dogs and our house. We were far away for a week and she gave us total peace of mind and I mean total, I am a world-class worrier and I had no concerns. She is kind and completely in charge. The dogs loved her - honestly I think they've been missing her since we got home. Our house was cleaner than when we left it, with clean sheets on the bed and a load of laundry in the dryer. She's wonderful. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her.

Additionally I have done elder and developmental disability care for people. I believe in honesty, empathy, and compassion for those under my care. I had a great experience with Malissa. The thing that I appreciated the most is her communication. I always knew everything about my doggo and how he is doing and I got pictures every night. She even contacted me with weather warnings during the big storm Portland had during my travels and was willing to stick around if my flight got canceled. Will recommend and rebook for sure.

About: Hello! My name is Allison, and I have decades of experience caring for animals of all kinds, including dogs, puppies, birds, hamsters, and farm animals. I grew up in a family that owned multiple pet stores, which gave me hands-on experience with animal care from a young age. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. Your pet will be in safe, loving hands with me and will get plenty of attention, care, and cuddles! 🤎 I’m currently available full-time, including weekdays and weekends 😊 I’m home most of the day, so pets will get plenty of attention, supervision, and time to play or relax. I’m happy to crate dogs if that’s part of their routine, but otherwise they’re welcome to roam the house and enjoy time in the backyard. I’m flexible and always try to follow each pet’s normal schedule so they feel comfortable and at home! 🐾 I have a fully fenced in large backyard that your pet can explore! My house has plenty of space for your pet to stretch out and make themselves feel at home. I also live near a large dog park!

This was our first experience with Rover and Erica was absolutely amazing. We have 2 very high energy dogs and 2 cats and despite the dogs being a handful, we could not have asked for better care. Her communication was great, we received pictures daily, she reached out when she had questions and she left our home cleaner than it was when we left. Thank you Erica, it was an absolute pleasure working with you! ❤️

Lena did a fantastic job watching our Shepherd, Frenchie, and cat. From the moment we left, her communication was outstanding. She sent wonderful photos and videos throughout our trip, which always made us smile and gave us peace of mind knowing our pets were happy and well cared for. She also took excellent care of our home, including bringing in packages and keeping an eye on everything while we were away. Most importantly, our animals absolutely adored her. They were happy, relaxed, and clearly received lots of love and attention during her stay. We would not hesitate to book Lena again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative pet sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Timber

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 1,735 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Timber. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Timber walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Timber maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Timber choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Timber. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
