“Eliza was absolutely great with our older Boxer, Penny. She was right on time, took care to give her attention, and I could tell Penny was very happy to have her sitting. I recommend Eliza.”

“Debbie was great. She handled everything professionally, asked great questions, and even had some suggestions. Good communication leading up to and during our trip. We would use her again.”

About: The first and only thing I ever begged my parents for was my very own dog... I didn't care how big/small, young/old it was but I knew it would be my best friend. I got my very own dog when I was 11 years old for Christmas and now, almost 17 years later I could never imagine life without dogs in it. Our only pet is our puppy Georgia who is a 5 month old Lab/Pit mix and we adore her so much! She is great with other dogs and loves all people. Aside from my love of dogs (and all animals) I am Certified as a Dog Trainer and also Certified as a Veterinary Assistant, which means I am also capable of administering medication while you are away. I am home just about 24/7 so any dog that stays with me will never be left alone. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you, thank you! -Megan R.
“Traci was super responsive and a great sitter! We had to change our plans last minute and she was understanding and willing to work with us so that our pets could be as well taken care of as possible. She sent daily updates with pictures and video that put my mind at ease and showed us how happy our dog Ellie was with her.”
About: My experience involves pet sitting and house sitting for 5 households, totaling about 10 cats and dogs. My sister has several years of vet tech experience and has given me some tips along the way. I have practice with giving pets medications and catering to their special dietary needs. Each and every pet I’ve had the privilege of spending time with has a special place in my heart. I would be grateful to care for your wonderful pets before returning to the University of Oregon in the Fall. I’m in need of work this summer before returning to my psychology degree studies and volunteer research lab assistant position. I have trips planned this summer and otherwise my routine is very flexible! I always try to meet pets’ usual routines! I am used to cleaning litter twice daily, feeding 2-3 times daily, scooping poop, cleaning and filling water dishes/fountains, cleaning up pet accidents, and of course, giving my love and attention and sending pictures to owners.

About: I’ve been a dog owner for as long as I can remember and have 4 years of hands-on experience volunteering 4 days a week at the Southern Oregon Humane Society, working with both dogs and cats. I’m comfortable caring for pets of all ages, including puppies, senior pets, and animals with different temperaments. I’m patient, reliable, attentive, and truly passionate about providing safe, loving care for every pet. I work evenings, usually starting at 4 PM, so I’m available most weekdays and weekends before 4 PM. House-sitting schedules can be discussed, and I’ll always do my best to accommodate your pet’s needs I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I follow feeding schedules, provide fresh water, walks, playtime, and lots of attention. I pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and needs while respecting your home and routines. I’m patient, dependable, and committed to creating a calm, safe environment for every pet in my care.

Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine as a part-time commitment that allows me to provide reliable, attentive care while maintaining a flexible schedule. I prioritize making time for walks, drop-in visits, and personalized care based on each pet’s needs. With my background as a Certified Veterinary Technician, I am comfortable caring for pets with medical needs while providing the same patience, love, and attention I give my own animals. For drop-in visits and dog walking services, I focus on providing safe, attentive, and individualized care tailored to each pet’s routine and personality. During drop-ins, I ensure pets are fed according to instructions, have fresh water, receive any needed medications, and get meaningful companionship and playtime. I also take care of litter boxes or potty breaks and make sure the home is secure before leaving. For dog walking, I prioritize safe, structured walks that match each dog’s energy level and needs. I am experienced with high-energy breeds and focus on exercise, mental stimulation, and positive reinforcement. With my background as a Certified Veterinary Technician, I am comfortable recognizing changes in behavior or health and responding appropriately while keeping pets calm, comfortable, and cared for.

“Marie was amazing!!! I am such a helicopter fur mama but I was quickly assured they were in great hands. Thorough communication, lovely updates, and my pups + kitty were as happy as can be when I came home. Will definitely be reaching out again in the future! Thank you so much Marie! 🙌 Moose, Evie, & Mazzy miss you already! ☺️🐾”

“Kenz was amazing!!! Our little puppy had just got fixed and we needed to go out of town for a wedding, which made us very nervous. Kenz was a 10/10 with Archie and giving us a peace of mind. She is bubbly and hilarious and Archie can’t wait to play with her again!!”

“Maria is absolutely fantastic!! She was wonderful with our dogs and they are ALOT - one senior and one 60lb+ puppy. She sent us updates and photos and took the BEST care of our dogs and our house. We were far away for a week and she gave us total peace of mind and I mean total, I am a world-class worrier and I had no concerns. She is kind and completely in charge. The dogs loved her - honestly I think they've been missing her since we got home. Our house was cleaner than when we left it, with clean sheets on the bed and a load of laundry in the dryer. She's wonderful. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her.”

About: I've been taking care of pets since I could toddle around; Cats, dogs, birds, you name it. I am well-versed in feeding, grooming, cleaning up after, and comforting animals, and am keen to follow instructions. However, I can still adapt to the situation if needed! I love animals and I'm happy to help keep your pet pawsitively safe! I post photos and videos about the pets I take care of while on Rover! If you are not comfortable with this let me know and I will not put your pet anywhere! With being a fresh graduate waiting for college to start up I have nothing but free time. With my own living situation I'm extremely flexible to fit into whatever schedule is needed! The closer you are to me the better with my limited transportation options, but I'll find a way to get to your pet if you need me! With instructions on what to do and where to find the necessary tools and resources I will have no problem keeping your pet happy and comfortable. I will work hard to keep your space as clean or cleaner than when you left it, and I will work around your pet's comfort zone, not mine.
About: I have had a variety of dog breeds my whole life. Mostly rescues across all ages. I have puppy experience as well as senior dog experience. Additionally I have done elder and developmental disability care for people. I believe in honesty, empathy, and compassion for those under my care. I am pursuing a Masters in Social Work and have an internship part time 3x per week (both remote work) , so I would like to fill the rest of my time to support myself financially ❤️ *no school/ internship until August 2026* I am very attentive and keep a close eye on pets at all times. I try and service my clients by appealing to their needs and sensibilities and not my own. Having worked as a caregiver for people with dementia and adults with developmental disabilities has prepared me to be alert and aware at all times.
“Malissa is amazing! She showed up to our meet-and-greet beforehand with an iPad to take copious notes. It was amazing! It’s clear she really cares and takes her job seriously. And our dog loved her and all the love and attention she gives (especially the evening scritches!).”

“Delaney rocks. My critters were happy, and that includes a large, ancient, and sometimes grumpy green iguana! She also picked up the mail, watered, and took out the trash. I recommend her for anyone.”

“Hanna was amazing with our two Aussie pups! They were pretty anxious with the fireworks, but she did everything she could to keep them calm and comfortable! She gave great updates with pictures throughout the whole weekend, which made me feel much better about leaving our pups at home! She played with them a ton in the backyard (the time lapse videos showed two very happy pups) and even worked on some training with them. We will certainly book with Hanna again!”

“Amani is THE best. We’ve had her watch our dog Hero many many times and we can always count on her to take amazing care of him and our house. Hero loves her and all the miles of walking they clock every time she stays with him. Can’t recommend her enough.”

Traci kept regular updates and was able to take care of the medicine we add to our dog rummies food. She gradually integrated our cattle dog into her own dogs little pack and by the time we came back the dogs were all getting along. Traci also let us know about road closures after crazy weather on our flight back and was ok with taking Rummie one more night so we could stay at hotel that night. Traci also came through in a bind when our other Rover sitter bailed last minute. Highly recommended and will book her again for sure.

FAQs for House Sitting - Buxton
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Buxton on Rover is $80 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Buxton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Buxton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Buxton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
