“Michelle was great with Maggie. It takes a little while for Maggie to warm up to people but within 2 meetings Maggie was getting comfortable. Will definitely book again. Highly appreciated and recommend”

“Our cat is 21 years old and requires lots of love and attention. Kaitlyn came daily to administer her three medications, feed her and clean her litter. But best of all was seeing pictures of my cat comfortable and happy with Kaitlyn! Will definitely have Kaitlyn come back to take care of our fur baby again!!”
“We absolutely love her. She was so great with our little puppy. We did drop in home visits twice a day. She was very attentive and made our puppy feel special and loved. Cleaned up after him. Sent lots of pictures so we knew what was also happening during the visits. Would 100% recommend her for your pet. And will 100% be having her puppy sit again. Thanks Wendy!”

About: Hello! My name is Julissa. I have so much love for all pets and animals. Growing up, i’ve always had a dog in the house, and they were always such an important member of our family. It’s been about five years since I’ve had a dog of my own. My last dog’s name was Sasha. We adopted her when she was six and had her until she was about thirteen. She was so smart, loving, and anxious when we first got her so our first few years together were spent establishing trust. Eventually we managed to off-leash train and we worked a lot on her recall so that we could enjoy longer walks and outdoor activities while ensuring that she always felt safe in her environment. At home we set her bed up in the kitchen, where we would pass our time cooking and spending a lot of quality time together. I had so many good years with my Sasha, and since she passed I have genuinely missed spending time with animals on a consistent basis. Since then, most if not all of my friends and family have entrusted me with taking care of their animals when they are busy or traveling, so I’ve had a lot of experience with many different pets and their varying needs/personalities. I work freelance as an artist. I am a musician, so I often stay at home practicing or composing. However most of my work is in the film industry, and this work ranges from smaller independent projects to network television. Although I do work on set sometimes, I try to take on as many post-production gigs as possible, so I often find myself sitting behind a desk all day. I have always made it a priority to work in a field that I am passionate about, and my decision to work with Rover has been no different. Caring for animals is not only something I am passionate about, but also a wonderful opportunity to go on walks and spend quality time with pets. I will always be very clear about any changes in my work schedule if those are to arise, but my reliability and dedication never wavers I have a fenced in yard and plenty of spaces in the house for your pet to wander and feel comfortable. I am also very trust worthy, organized, communicative, and extremely eager to work with you!
About: Hi, My name is Perrie.I’m a Dog trainer and dog groomer. I love animals having grown up with dogs and cats. I've pet sitting for friends and family for as long as I can remember and have been professionally walking dogs and sitting for the last 8 years. I love animals but dogs will always have a special place in my heart. I can not wait to meet you and your pets! I'm currently pet sitting and walking part time. Including holidays and weekends. As long as I don't have other clients or things planned in advance. While every dog is different I always make sure to treat a client's dog like it's my own respecting the dog's boundaries and the clients.
About: I’m an attentive sitter only with experience caring for my family’s brown dachshund, Snickers (yes like after the Snickers bar lol), over the past year. I may not have formal pet‑care training, but I have a natural ease with animals and a friendly, patient presence that helps them feel comfortable. I’m reliable, gentle, and committed to making your pet feel safe, happy, and well‑cared‑for. I currently work full-time Monday through Friday on a hybrid schedule. I can work around my work schedule and supplying care on the weekends and in the early afternoon and evenings during the weekdays. Although all options won’t be available at once every week, those would be my typical options. As far as pet care, of course there’s feeding, walking, playing and exercising, and general comfort of the pet. I will be willing to supply whatever needs specific to that pet given the instruction from the owner.

About: Honestly? I’d do this for free — and I have, many times. I’ve cared for dogs and cats for friends, family, and neighbors my whole life, and recently completed a month-long live-in cat sit. My background working with kids in sports and with autism has made me patient, attentive, and calm in any situation. Your pet won’t just be watched, they’ll be treated like family. My schedule is about as flexible as it gets. I work part-time just a few hours every few days, and the rest of my time is spent working from home on my business. Your pet won’t be sitting alone waiting for someone to come home. They’ll have a present, engaged, companion, ready for walks, playtime, and everything in between. Whether caring for your pet in my home or yours, safety, and comfort always come first my home features are fully fenced backyard, perfect for off leash play and outdoor time without any worry. I’m in a quiet, low traffic neighborhood that’s ideal for relaxed, walks, and outdoor adventures. Inside, my home is calm and welcoming. If I’m caring for your pet in your home, I bring the same attentiveness and routine focused approach so your pet stays comfortable in the environment they know best.
“We're so pleased with Joane's care for our cat Zappa! About: Every pet deserves to feel safe, loved, and genuinely cared for—even when you’re away. That’s exactly the kind of care I provide. As a lifelong animal lover, I understand that pets are family. I share my home with my sweet 6-year-old Cavapoo and my gentle 10-year-old Scottish Fold cat, so I know firsthand how important it is to trust the person caring for your furry family members. Before joining Rover, I worked at Dogtopia, where I cared for groups of up to 20 dogs at a time. That experience taught me how to understand different personalities, recognize body language, manage dogs of all sizes and energy levels, and ensure every pup feels safe, comfortable, and happy. When I was younger, I babysat and walked dogs for relatives and neighbors. I also know that leaving your pet can be stressful for you, too. That’s why I make communication a priority. You’ll receive regular photo updates, videos, and text messages so you can see your pet enjoying their day and have peace of mind knowing they’re in loving hands. When I care for your pet, my goal is simple: I want them to feel as comfortable, happy, and loved as they do when they’re with you. I can’t wait to meet you and your four-legged family member and become someone you can count on whenever you need an extra helping hand. I am currently on summer break from college. From September 2026, I will be available to work at any time on Monday, Wednesday, Friday afternoon/evenings and Saturday and Sunday. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, belly rubs, or simply quiet companionship, I’ll tailor every visit to their unique personality and routine. I believe every pet deserves individual attention, patience, and lots of affection. That is how I am with my dog Flash and my beautiful cat, Princess Leia. Honestly, no request is too much, my dog and cat both are very particular in their ways.

“Ari did a great job dropping in to take care of my cat for several days. I'd book him again and would highly recommend him to others as well. He was easy to work with and did everything as instructed.”

“Cynthia was amazing with my cats! She watched them once a few months back, and when she came to watch them for us while we were getting married, my cats immediately recognized her and ran right up to her. You can tell she really takes care of the pets she cares for and they feel safe and happy around her!”

“I really appreciate how Stephanie took her time during the meet and greet to make sure that Piper and I felt comfortable. She is warm, friendly, extremely reliable, and very observant/attentive to what Piper needs. Stephanie also provides detailed updates (and takes great pictures)! She’s been an incredibly welcome and helpful addition to our daily routine. Thank you so much for brightening Piper’s day and taking such great care of her!”

About: I got my first family dog when I was 8, and caring for him sparked a long-standing love for dogs. Since then, I’ve helped take care of him and other dogs, gaining hands-on experience with their daily needs, training, and routines. I currently work 9-6PM ET, but can be there to take care of your dog any time after that, and any time on the weekends. I provide attentive and personalized care for pets, whether in my home or the client’s. This includes feeding according to their schedule and dietary needs, providing fresh water, giving daily walks and exercise, offering playtime and mental stimulation, and ensuring lots of love and attention. I also follow any specific instructions from the pet owner, monitor for health or behavior changes, and maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment at all times.

Von Marie and Steven are incredibly dependable and have done a great job watching our dogs. They take the time to provide detailed reports and keep us up to date. Always quick to respond they are the best sitters we have worked with. Our dogs are always excited when they visit.

We're so pleased with Joane's care for our cat Zappa! She was communicative, extremely nice and pleasant and diligent, she kept us apprised of everything that happened during the visit and sent pictures and videos! She earned our trust and then some! I found Michelle on short notice when the weather was predicting thunder all day, and Ishby can be alone for a few hours but is scared of thunder. Michelle was easy to communicate with, understanding and trying to make things work for me as best she could even as the weather forecast was changing. When she came for the meet n greet, it was clear she has a way with dogs and Ishby got used to her quickly. She was in touch throughout the visit, took lots of pictures, fed Ishby as I asked her to, and I felt like my baby was in good hands. Grateful for Michelle's help!

Thank you so so much Soraya!! You take care of our zoo of a household (lol)- 3 cats, 2 fish, and a turtle with such care and dedication. You have given us peace of mind every single time we’re away. Your detailed pet visit cards and photos gave us that little piece of home from oceans away we always need. Also, thank you for being so flexible working around time differences and late messages!! We will be sure to reach out for any and all future trips, we know our girls will miss you till your next visit ❤️

Morgan is amazing! She is very thoughtful, kind, and professional. My cat is usually a bit cautious with strangers, but he fell in love with her at the first sight. Morgan kept me updated with daily reports and photos, and answered all my questions promptly and clearly. Communication with her is always smooth, pleasant, and assuring. I feel fortunate knowing that I have someone I can trust with my 🐈⬛ when cannot be with him.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
