“Michelle was a wonderful guardian for Asher while we were away on vacation. Her videos and photos gave us a lot of reassurance for our first time leaving him home over an extended period. We are so appreciative of all the work she puts in!”

About: My name is Jonathan and I am currently 30 years old, working full-time as a dog sitter and remote product designer and living in Great Neck, NY. I currently have a 8 year old golden retriever! I have always loved dogs as I grew up with a Maltese when I was in kindergarten before getting my golden. I'm also very good at training through positive reinforcement and handling medium to large breeds. I also have experience taking care of multiple dogs at the same time. Lastly, I can easily tell when dogs are in trouble or need to use the bathroom,etc. My schedule is extremely flexible so I can accommodate most requests! I wake up at 9am everyday to let my dog out for a morning potty break. We then go for a walk at noon, one at 6pm, and one more at 10pm before bed. I have a fenced in yard that is locked at all times. I will be present in the backyard anytime the dogs are there and will keep an eye on them while they play. I will be home 24/7 while your dog is with me, and will be monitored at all times.
“We absolutely love her. She was so great with our little puppy. We did drop in home visits twice a day. She was very attentive and made our puppy feel special and loved. Cleaned up after him. Sent lots of pictures so we knew what was also happening during the visits. Would 100% recommend her for your pet. And will 100% be having her puppy sit again. Thanks Wendy!”

“Andrea was amazing! She immediately put me at ease when we met her, asked all of the right questions and was so sweet to our two cats. I appreciated Andrea's thorough communication while we were gone (and she even sent me a note the day before we left confirming timing for the next day, which I really appreciate!) She was on-time for our visits and sent lots of info and photos. I will definitely book Andrea to watch our cats again! Thanks Andrea <3”

About: 📍 Service area includes the Great Neck Peninsula and surrounding areas of Manhasset and Port Washington. 🔄 Would love to get setup with some regular, repeat clients that align with my work from home schedule. ——— 👋🏼 Hello! I’m Christian, a young professional in Great Neck, NY. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and house sitting, and I’m currently available for new clients! I work fully-remote from home, so I have a flexible schedule and can give your dog the attention they need, whether it’s a midday walk, a check-in while you’re at work, or overnight care in your home. I grew up with dogs my whole life, and I got my start walking and caring for dogs professionally through “Wag!” as part of the first group of walkers in Boston while studying at Northeastern University. I’ve been continuing to care for dogs in my spare time since. At home, I live with my fiancé and our labradoodle, Callum, a lovable and energetic boy who always keeps me active. I’m always happy to do a free meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a great fit. Let’s connect; I’d love to meet you and your dog! 😁 I work from home full time, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m happy to accommodate your scheduling needs - just let me know! In both my home and my clients’ homes, I focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I follow provided routines closely (feeding schedules, medication, crate time, etc.). I’m attentive to each dog’s specific needs, especially when it comes to things like leash reactivity or separation anxiety, which I’ve personally dealt with in my own dog and therefore fully understand what goes on with it. My remote work schedule gives me the flexibility to give pets my full attention throughout the day, not just during quick visits or walks.
About: I have over 7 years of active, hands-on experience raising, training, and caring for dogs of all sizes, including large and powerful breeds like Rottweilers. Since 2018, I have been fully responsible for managing daily exercise routines, structured neighborhood walks, and feeding schedules.Beyond dogs, I am highly comfortable caring for cats, and other household animals. I am very attentive to animal body language, making sure your pets stay safe, comfortable, and appropriately active while you are away. Rain or snow, I stick strictly to your pet's schedule. Pet care fits smoothly into my weekly routine because I am an early bird who loves getting out of the house early to stay active. I prefer being highly proactive about my availability, meaning I only accept bookings on days when I am completely free and can dedicate my full attention to your pet. Whether you need structured early morning exercise routines, mid-day check-ins, or reliable evening walks, I communicate clearly and stick strictly to your pet's established schedule. When caring for pets in a client's home, safety is my absolute priority. I am highly attentive to animal body language and know how to maintain structural control when walking larger, powerful dogs on a leash. I strictly respect your household environment, adhere to your exact safety rules, and keep outdoor routines secure by avoiding any unpredictable interactions with strange dogs or crowded spaces.
About: I’m an attentive sitter only with experience caring for my family’s brown dachshund, Snickers (yes like after the Snickers bar lol), over the past year. I may not have formal pet‑care training, but I have a natural ease with animals and a friendly, patient presence that helps them feel comfortable. I’m reliable, gentle, and committed to making your pet feel safe, happy, and well‑cared‑for. I currently work full-time Monday through Friday on a hybrid schedule. I can work around my work schedule and supplying care on the weekends and in the early afternoon and evenings during the weekdays. Although all options won’t be available at once every week, those would be my typical options. As far as pet care, of course there’s feeding, walking, playing and exercising, and general comfort of the pet. I will be willing to supply whatever needs specific to that pet given the instruction from the owner.
About: I have been an animal lover my entire life, and dogs are the greatest animal of all. I currently volunteer at North Shore Animal League as well as the Hope for Cleo Animal Rescue in Suffolk. Love to play and give all the pets to our furry friends! I am a newly-licensed Registered Nurse taking a much-needed vacation. My schedule is 13 days a month at work, and the rest are off days, leaving plenty of time to walk doggies and drop in for potty breaks and play time. My dogs have always lived with a fenced-in yard, but I am not currently offering housing/boarding services. I am willing to travel to help take care of your pup!
“Look no further, Ari is the best dog sitter I've found! Punctual, friendly and great with dogs! Not only does my dog love him, but he's also a hit with my mom! Thanks again Ari!!!”

About: I'm an incredibly active individual. I love to lift weights, practice martial arts, hike, and go on runs. This allows me to be an excellent fit for a dog whose energy levels are high. If you'd prefer for me to not just take your dog to the bathroom, but provide them a good amount of exercise as well, I'm a great fit! When I'm not taking care of dogs I work as a writer, director, and editor on films, social media videos, and commercials. If you've ever wanted any photos or videos of you and your four legged friend (or just them) I can provide high quality images/videos for you as well whether you want to just show off to your friends and family or just to have status updates on how your dog is doing. Because I work freelance my schedule tends to be flexible and allows me to set my own hours usually. I will work with you as best as I can to fit your needs within my schedule. I treat dogs very similarly to how I treat people. I show them a great deal of respect, empathy, and love. I do tend to spoil my own dog here and there, but I also try to love him as unconditionally as he does to me. A golden rule I try to follow is treat others the way you want to be treated. Another golden rule I try to follow is to see myself in others. I also apply these two golden rules to my encounters with pets and nature in general.
About: I’m active and enjoying running/walking. I grew up with a dog in the house and took care of her until her last days. As she got older I still tried to enrich her but playing with her and training her on new commands. I work full time but I'm free on the weekends and home. Weekdays I can accommodate evenings if needed. Friday-Sunday is possible for me as well. When I’m taking care of dogs I like to spend most of my time with them and love play! I prefer to follow a routine and stick to it.

“Vee and Steven have done drop-ins for our rescue Frenchie, Tank, since we both went back to work, and we don't know what we'd do without them. Tank came from a puppy mill with medical needs and separation anxiety, so we were nervous about leaving him. They've been incredible with him. Every visit comes with detailed notes and photos, so we always know how he's doing. They spotted a sore on his paw before we did and flagged it right away. They towel him off and clean his paws without being asked, and they're endlessly patient on rainy days, which he hates. They've also given us genuinely helpful suggestions as we've worked out his setup. You can tell they really care about him. Highly recommend.”

“Karlos has been a lifesaver! He’s consistent, reliable, and easy to communicate with. I appreciate how he took the time to really get to know Piper and her daily routine during the meet and greet. He asked thoughtful, relevant questions and made me feel really comfortable trusting him with her :) Karlos is also very considerate. He shares lots of photos of Piper which I truly appreciate! I’ve seen him walking my neighbors’ dogs as well and he seems to have a genuine connection with all the animals he works with. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for taking such good care of Piper!”

About: I got my first family dog when I was 8, and caring for him sparked a long-standing love for dogs. Since then, I’ve helped take care of him and other dogs, gaining hands-on experience with their daily needs, training, and routines. I currently work 9-6PM ET, but can be there to take care of your dog any time after that, and any time on the weekends. I provide attentive and personalized care for pets, whether in my home or the client’s. This includes feeding according to their schedule and dietary needs, providing fresh water, giving daily walks and exercise, offering playtime and mental stimulation, and ensuring lots of love and attention. I also follow any specific instructions from the pet owner, monitor for health or behavior changes, and maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment at all times.
“Jacqueline was amazing! She was so easy to get in touch with, super communicative, and was right on time for the drop-in. She sent pictures and videos playing with my cat. She has a clear love for animals and treated my cat with kindness. Will definitely book again!!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs for the past 5 years, including my family dog and family friends’. I love going on walks, bathing, and feeding dogs. I know some tricks to give them medicine if needed. I’m working part-time on Saturdays, so I have plenty of free time to dedicate to your fur baby throughout the week. I don’t have any time restraints, so feel free to rely on me. I know how to crate dogs, regardless of age, and have a lot of patience since I’ve babysat toddlers before too. I know not all dogs are the same and wait for them to approach first unless there’s an emergency.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Great Neck Estates
Lawrence was amazing! I was super anxious to have a sitter for my cats, this is my first time using rover and I’m so glad I chose Lawrence. He was very communicative and cared about the instructions I gave, never afraid to ask questions to ensure my fur babies were well taken care of! His kind nature even got my super anxious cat domino to come out of hiding🥹 he sent update photos each day he came in for a visit, will definitely book with him if I’m ever out of town again!

We're so pleased with Joane's care for our cat Zappa! She was communicative, extremely nice and pleasant and diligent, she kept us apprised of everything that happened during the visit and sent pictures and videos! She earned our trust and then some! I look forward to having future opportunities to utilize. Joane.

I found Michelle on short notice when the weather was predicting thunder all day, and Ishby can be alone for a few hours but is scared of thunder. Michelle was easy to communicate with, understanding and trying to make things work for me as best she could even as the weather forecast was changing. When she came for the meet n greet, it was clear she has a way with dogs and Ishby got used to her quickly. She was in touch throughout the visit, took lots of pictures, fed Ishby as I asked her to, and I felt like my baby was in good hands. Grateful for Michelle's help!

Thank you so so much Soraya!! You take care of our zoo of a household (lol)- 3 cats, 2 fish, and a turtle with such care and dedication. You have given us peace of mind every single time we’re away. Your detailed pet visit cards and photos gave us that little piece of home from oceans away we always need. Also, thank you for being so flexible working around time differences and late messages!! We will be sure to reach out for any and all future trips, we know our girls will miss you till your next visit ❤️

Morgan is amazing! She is very thoughtful, kind, and professional. My cat is usually a bit cautious with strangers, but he fell in love with her at the first sight. Morgan kept me updated with daily reports and photos, and answered all my questions promptly and clearly. Communication with her is always smooth, pleasant, and assuring. I feel fortunate knowing that I have someone I can trust with my 🐈⬛ when cannot be with him.

Shibo was absolutely amazing! I have two male cats, and one of them I had just adopted 10 days before leaving for my trip. He was very skittish when I first got him, but he warmed up to Shibo right away. My other cat took a liking to him immediately as well—who wouldn’t! Shibo was so wonderful, giving my cats the attention they needed while I was away. In the past, I relied on neighbors and people just stopping by to feed and check on them, but my experience with Shibo has completely changed my perspective. It is worth every penny to have someone as great as him looking after your fur babies! When I returned, I could see the difference in my fluffy companions in the best way as this is very early in their introduction phase. I had peace of mind knowing they were well cared for. Shibo provided fantastic updates and beautiful photos, making it clear that my cats had a wonderful time with their new friend. I have full trust in Shibo as I also came home to find everything exactly as I expected. I highly recommend Shibo for anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter! Especially cats.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
