About: I love all the dogs. I enjoy playing with them and taking walks. I love long hiking in the parks where me and dogs can be closer to nature. I have always met only great dogs. They all have different personalities and this is something that requires patience and understanding to allow the dog connect with me. However, as big or small the dog can be, it has no difference for me. In my life I had only one time dog biting me and it was when I was a child and was running through the neighbor's property and the dog did his duty and started running after me. He scratched my left leg with his teeth, but it was more of a gentle warning, than a bite. Dogs listen to me very well. Sometimes I get surprised myself how well they respond to me. This is something I would enjoy doing with all my heart Dogs are amazing creatures! Thank you, Oksana

“Heather has been so helpful coming in to check on the dogs while my husband and I work a busy schedule! She is so thoughtful and caring with the dogs! We are so grateful for her help!!”

About: I have been around a variety of animals my entire life! Currently we have a 2 year old Newfoundland. We love the big and fluffy dogs. Winston loves making new friends to play with. We have a large fenced in Yard (5 foot tall fence). I have raised huskies for 12 years, so I have experience with the energetic, hyper active dog breeds. I also have experience with many other animals as I have had them as pets previously (cats, lizards, ferrets, rats, hamsters, birds). I prefer to pet sit for only one family at a time. This is for your pets safety as well as my dogs. I was a vet tech for 12 years. I am comfortable giving medications (oral, injection, topical, eye drops). I have experience with young and older dogs. Typically first potty break is around 6am and bedtime around 9pm. During the day dogs can go outside every few hours as needed. I currently primarily telework 3 days a week, and go in person to the office 2 days a week. Dogs are welcome in the home office and will get let out throughout the day. When I have to go in person, dogs are kenneled. My in person days are typically 9 hour days. Dogs are fed twice a day and sepetate from one another. Food bowls are not left out during the day. There is always access to fresh water. Dogs sleep in the bedroom with us at night. The back yard is fully fenced in (15 steps down). I also have a ti-out in the front yard for senior dogs who are not good with stairs. The kitchen and living room area are baby gated off. Gates are only shut when needed. Otherwise dogs have full access to 1st and 2nd floor. Winston is very friendly and loves them company of other dogs (playing or lounging togeher).

About: I'm currently working as a canine coach and know all about taking care of dogs and bathing them, cutting nails, etc.I also know the signs of seizures and how to time them and what to do in situations like that. I'm currently a canine coach and my days off are Tuesday all day, Thursdays all day and Saturday afternoons. Sometimes I'm available friday mornings if needed. I live in an apartment and have a small yorkie but my apartment complex has a dog park thats perfect for all breeds. If it's at the clients home I'll make sure doors are closed so they'll be safe and won't escape. On walks i'll make sure they are safe on their daily walks and have them prepare for any type of weather if they need their raincoats or snow boots or their heat protecting shoes and attire, etc.

About: My partner and I work together to provide reliable and attentive house sitting and pet care throughout the DMV area. I currently work part-time as a concierge, which has strengthened my professionalism, attention to detail, and respect for building security and residents’ privacy. My partner is studying online to become an electrician, which gives him a flexible schedule and a strong sense of responsibility and problem-solving. We also have a cat of our own, so we understand the importance of routine, litter care, enrichment, and recognizing subtle changes in behavior. Caring for animals in their home requires patience and attentiveness, and we take that seriously. Together, we have experience caring for dogs and cats of various sizes, ages, and temperaments. Working as a team allows us to provide consistent supervision, maintain routines, and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. We are comfortable with: • Small to large dogs • Senior pets • Multiple-pet households • Following detailed feeding and care schedules We prioritize clear communication, cleanliness, and maintaining a calm, secure environment at all times. Our goal is to provide dependable care so you can travel with peace of mind. Pet care fits naturally into our routine. I work some night concierge shifts, which gives me flexibility during the day to maintain feeding schedules, walks, and check-ins. Spending time outdoors with pets is a great balance after overnight work, and I enjoy being active with them. My partner studies in the evenings, so we are both structured and routine-oriented. Having pets in our care fits well with our schedule, as we prioritize consistency, fresh air, and daily activity. Because of our schedule flexibility, we are able to accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening care while ensuring pets receive attentive and reliable supervision. “I highly recommend her! She took wonderful care of my dog and treated him like her own. She made sure he was well-fed, gave him plenty of love and attention, and took him on regular walks. It gave me great peace of mind knowing he was in such caring and responsible hands. I would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.”

About: Recently married and paying off bills! If you have animal needs, I'm your girl! I've had cats and dogs my whole life. All kinds of breeds-mostly huge ones🤣 husky, chow, labs. I currently swap pet care with a neighbor, so I figured why not sign up for Rover! She said she used to do it, and she enjoyed Rover. It gives me a dopamine boost every time I get to see the fur babies. I'll treat them just as my own. I work from home, so with enough notice, I can make time to make runs out to care of your pets! I am in Temple Hills - very nearby is easiest. I usually immediately let out the dogs or walk the dogs. Then I feed them. While they are eating, I will do whatever needs to be done such as filling water bowls, cleaning up messes, etc. Then once they are done, I give lots of hugs or play depending on the doggie needs. Some dogs just want to sit under my feet and sleep while I'm at the counter or some dogs have all the energy in the world. Cats tend to just be cats 🤣 I had a cat that requires injections, so long as the dog or cat tolerates, I can do shots, oral or topical meds.
About: I have provided great care for animals throughout my life, from senior dogs to small kittens. I am able to efficiently bathe, feed, clean after, and exercise pets. Pet care is rewarding for me. I am currently available. My schedule is flexible and completely open. My flexibility will allow for the most convenient times of service suitable for you. I have experience with poorly tempered animals and overly enthusiastic dogs, I am able to handle myself and diffuse situations well, ensuring your pet’s safety.
“I thank Justina so much for all she did for my girls! They love her and was well behaved for her! I thank her for the clean ups and refills. Everything seem to have gone well!!”

“Mikeala took great care of my cats! She made sure they were eating, scooped their litter box, and went out of her way to clean up their little messes. I’d be happy to use her again! Thanks Mikeala!”

About: I have helped my mom care for our house animals (dogs, cats, etc.), but I stepped in and took responsibility when we adopted our boy Kato. He is a six 1/2-year-old Staffordshire Pittie with all the skin problems bully breeds come with. I have aided in feeding, walking, and giving him his medicine at appropriate times. I am employed part-time, so I have plenty of time to walk and play with your furry babies. I also have my means of transportation, so getting to them will be no problem. I do not intend to use my home to watch your dogs because my pitty was not properly socialized as a puppy; however, I can adapt to any of your pet's routines or needs in your home.
“Mikela was very personable and very communicative when we did our virtual meet and greet. Our kitty is very old and needed some extra care and she was very understanding and helpful about it. We were away with no service except for emergencies/ rare service spots so when we were able to check in she was very fast with responding and giving us updates. We super appreciated her and her attention to detail and how well our little old lady was cared for. We would absolutely book her again. Thank you Mikela!”

“First time puppy owner and Rover user and I highly recommend Melissa. I unexpectedly had to work out of my DC office which means we had to travel to town and I had to leave my 14wk puppy crated for much of the day for the first time. He's not fully vaccinated yet so he can't even go for a walk and I needed someone for multiple times a day. Also, he's a handful. I was SO worried! Melissa was AWESOME and from the meet and greet just put my mind at ease. She kept me updated with photos that let me relax and focus on my job knowing he was in good hands. I saw he went to the bathroom, ate and drank and got out his puppy zippies - a productive half hour I aspire to! She even got him to #2 on the puppy pad, which is still a challenge for him! Next time I'm in need of a walker or a sitter in DC, she's at the top of my list. Thanks again, Melissa!”

About: I've cared for animals of varying breeds, shapes, and sizes since I was a young girl. As an aspiring veterinarian, I've made staying informed and attentive to animal's needs my top priority. In my time taking care of other's pets, I've conduced overnight stays, routine check-ins, walking & enrichment activities, mild grooming, as well as medication administration. I keep detailed logs of the eating, drinking, and energy levels of the pets I watch and communicate regularly with the owners. This way, I can ensure that your loved ones are receiving the attention they need to thrive in your time apart. I have a pure, genuine love for animals, and I look forward to meeting your pet! I currently work as a Veterinary Nurse at a clinic with 3 days off a week. With proper notice, I am comfortable rearranging my schedule to meet the needs of your pet. I have open availability on Wednesdays and weekends as well. I make sure to thoroughly read and notate any instructions left by the owners. I understand that allowing someone into your home is a huge act of trust, and I make it a point to remain considerate, respectful, and tidy as I operate around the house. I understand that being around new company can be stressful for some animals, so I make sure to slowly build a bond that allows your pet to trust me.

“Alejandra did a great job dropping in on our cats over the weekend. She was on time, provided detailed reports, took lots of pictures, and asked good questions when some of the instructions we left were unclear. I plan to hire her again if she is willing!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Temple Hills
Mickela was great with my cats, and we have a lot of cats. She was able to make each of my cats feel safe and cared for while I was gone on a very long work trip. Normally I come home to a house with some kitty messes due to stress and this time I came home to a clean and happy house where I could just hop right back into our normal routine. I have already booked Mickela for my next work trip and she will 100% be my regular sitter. I highly recommend!. She was able to give my cats their medicine, handle a pretty hectic feeding time, and keep everyone happy and stress free. If you want someone to love your cat like their own Mickela is your person!
Cassandra is an absolutely fantastic sitter. She is proactive, detail oriented, and reliable. We were gone for a week and have two very spoiled cats. I left a long list of things I wanted her to do for us, including giving one of our cats his inhaler every day, and mixing in supplements into food, along with lots of preferences to keep their routine as normal as possible. Cassandra not only followed everything we requested, but went above and beyond. She gave us detailed reports about how the cats were doing and photos every day for us. We do not leave our cats alone often and I was so happy to have someone that I knew was exceedingly capable of caring for them. We had a few issues with another sitter that was also booked for another time of day while we were away on the same trip, and I think I would've lost my mind if Cassandra wasn't around. She gave me peace of mind that she was handling any potential problems, even if she wasn't the one that caused them. Thank you again for all of your efforts and keeping Spooky and Jinx happy and healthy while we were away!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
