“Jaden did an amazing job taking care of my dog, Bella, over the Fourth of July weekend. This was my first time leaving Bella with someone I didn’t know, so I was pretty nervous. Jaden made the whole experience so much easier by sending regular photo updates and keeping me informed, which really helped put my mind at ease. It was clear that Bella was well cared for and happy. I truly appreciate the care and communication, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jaden again. Highly recommend!”

“We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Jordan!! She was so reassuring and sent updates throughout our dogs stay. Very affordable and both me and my dog were very satisfied with our experience. I will be a repeat customer!!”

“My puppy had a great time with Samantha and Braden! She was excited at drop-off and happy and tired at pickup. They sent photos/updates while our dog was in their care. Kept things easy for us!”

“They were super kind and approachable. We knew within a couple of minutes of meeting them that our kitties were in good hands. They kept us updated with how things were going and sent many pictures. We could see along the way that they didn't just do the basics for care, but also interacted with them as if they were there own pets. It was a great experience and we had no worries whatsoever.”

“Thank you so much for being available on short notice and for all the great pictures of our pups! I am so sorry that Stevie got into the potatoes and toilet paper. I really appreciate you!!”

“Justin is absolutely amazing. Communication was quick and honest. Our pup had a good time playing and was well taken care of. We will definitely be requesting Justin for all of our pup’s daycare needs in the future. Highly recommend.”

“Mattey and her fiance Wyatt took GREAT care of our two dogs over a long weekend. This was our first time using Rover and leaving the dogs with someone, so I was pretty nervous and worried they'd be a handful. Mattey sent me frequent photos and videos, along with reassuring notes that everyone was getting along great. Our dogs were tired and happy when we picked them up, and I'm very grateful to Mattey for making this a great experience. We'll be using Mattey again in the future every time we need a dog sitter - I recommend her 100%!”

“Michelle and her family are such a blessing for us. It’s so nice to know our fur babies will not only be well treated but will enjoy their time with her family. Thank you Michelle!”

“Heather was so great watching our dog Buster! They were very welcoming to him. She sent me some pictures and updates about how he was doing throughout his stay which was so nice! Heather is super fast with communication and was flexible with what we needed for drop off and pick up. Overall it was a really great experience! I would definitely recommend Heather and we would absolutely have our dog stay with her family again!”

“Elizabeth was wonderful! She was so friendly and communicative about when she would check in, and she sent photos to update us. She gave our fur babies lots of attention and love. We will absolutely ask her to cat-sit again if we need to! Thanks again, Lizzie!”

“MiKayla is amazing! I couldn’t have chosen a better pup-sitter! From our initial conversations, the meet n greet, to my doggo’s stay—she was polite, professional and easy to communicate with. You can tell MiKayla loves being a sitter, it shows within her home. She sent pictures and updates daily, and she certainly treated our pup as she did her own. My dog had so much fun playing with her and the other dogs in her care. He was relaxed and happy. Even though he was happy to see me after being with her for a week, I could tell he wanted to stay at her home. Lol! Thank you MiKayla! You have a repeat client in me!!”

“Alexis is super sweet! Karl absolutely loved his time at their house! He played with their dog and was having the time of his life! I will absolutely book with them again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
