“I can’t say thank you enough to Marnie and Jeffery! ❤️ This was our first time using rover (we don’t leave our dogs much) and it was an amazing experience! They loved on Murphy extra on his birthday with pup cups, party hats, and treats. I’d be lying if I said my eyes didn’t water seeing those pictures 🥹 We have a few more weddings this year and I’m crossing my fingers they’ll take Murphy and Nala for a few more overnights because I know they’ll be safe and loved! What more could you want?❤️”

“Zach was great and put all my anxieties at ease!! Instantly knew my dog was in good hands with him. He updated me with pictures of my boy and his communication was great! Would 100% recommend him to anyone!”

“Josie watched our dog for four days while we were gone on vacation. She was in communication with us throughout our trip. She was flexible with drop off and pick up times. From the pics we received, our dog looked like she had a lot of fun playing and relaxing too. She has been sleeping since we got her home.😊 I would book Josie again.”

“Casandra did an AMAZING job handling our dogs for the weekend while we got to enjoy a vacation in another state! This was our first experience using Rover and I have already recommended Rover and Casandra to our family and friends! A+++ Thank you!”

“Jessie had the best time!! Amber sent updated photos on a routine basis, let me know how Jesse was doing, and was great at responding. She and her husband are super great! 10/10 will be using again. :)”

“Had an amazing experience with Amber. She took care of Milo when we just arrived in the city. My dog is very anxious but felt so comfortable around her family. I will recommend her to everyone.”

“Shayla is very responsive and great to work with. She treats your dog like one of her own. She has an awesome large fenced in back yard with so much space to play. I loved all the pictures and updates she sends. Will definitely be back for more stays!”

“Couldn’t be happier with Jordan. She sent photos daily and kept me updated. Thank you Jordan for keeping my fur baby and taking such good care of her. Jordan was even will to make sure my dog received her daily meds.”

“We booked with Lezlie a last minute 3 days board sitting for our dog Pete. She was supper accommodating and took great care of Pete. We appreciate all the pictures and how we were kept informed about his day. We can tell he had a great time! And would love to rebook with her next time.”

About: I have grown up with high energy dogs. My family has always had dogs since I was a child. We treat dogs like family. We don't currently have any pets. We had two black lab mix dogs for 15 years. I will feed and let the dogs out in the morning. Dogs will be fed again in the afternoon. Dogs will be housed in the dog kennel in the garage overnight. There is a doggy door for dogs to access the backyard during the day. They will be locked inside the kennel and doghouse area in the garage overnight. I have a fenced in yard. Dogs will stay in the kennel in the garage with free access to the backyard through the doggy door during the day. The doghouse in the garage is insulated with a heat lamp during the winter. The dogs will be played with and receive attention from myself three times per day. I will take the dogs on a walk around the neighborhood once per day.

“This was my first time using Rover and/or boarding our cat. Maria was so kind and thoughtful with answering all my questions and giving updates! Every picture she sent really showed how comfortable my cat was getting and that she was making sure to give him love and attention. We would absolutely use her again and recommend her to anyone.”

“Rowan was wonderful with our senior pup! She was able to take him last minute when our other care fell through. She even took him for a pupachino and sent a pic! Lucky dog. Thanks, Rowan!”

“This was our first time using Rover and MiKayla was great. She provided updates and pictures of our puppy while out of town for the weekend. Would highly recommend and will be using her services again the future.”

About: I can’t get any more dogs right now, but I absolutely love animals. I grew up on a farm, so I’ve always been surrounded by them, and I really miss having that in my life. I currently have two small dogs who are very friendly and love playing with other dogs, and I have a big backyard for them to run around in. I just miss the companionship and joy that comes with being around animals every day. I work full-time, so my schedule is fairly consistent. I leave for work at 6:00 a.m., have a one-hour lunch break at noon, and I’m usually home by 4:00 p.m. Outside of work, I spend my time with my two small dogs, who are very friendly and love being around other dogs. I also have a large backyard where they can run and play. Even with my work schedule, I have plenty of time in the evenings and on weekends to care for and enjoy being around animals. I’d be happy to walk your dog if they enjoy going on walks, take them to the dog park for some exercise and socialization, play with them indoors or outside, and, of course, give them plenty of love and attention while you’re away. My goal is to make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for, even when they’re missing their owner(s).
About: I have had dogs my entire adult life, up to 7 at one time, including a husky. I now only have 1, since I had to move and left the rest with my old roommate (some were his anyway, and I took the one that had chosen me as his human). Every dog I've ever had was properly trained to at least sit on command - with or without a treat. When I had the 7, I could have the pack surround me, and call them one by one for their treat, and only the one called would reach. People have watched my dog's behavior out in public and have aske if I could train their dogs! I have no formal training for dog training, but I did grow up watching Caesar on Animal Planet, and implemented his behavior training techniques with all of my own dogs when they were puppies, or from the time I accepted them in as strays. I have cared for others pets in the past, but not in a professional capacity. I sat for a friend of mine at her house, caring for 3 dogs and a cat. I fed the cat in the morning and at night and cleaned her litter box once a day. The dogs got fed on the same schedule, and spent the majority of the day outside in the fenced back yard unless it was raining. I went outside and threw balls and sticks for them a few times each day, for about an hour or so each time. I currently do not have a job, so I am available full time, any day or time. I have my own dog who prefers to not let me out of his sight, and will cry if I leave him at home alone, so getting a traditional job while living in an apartment is out of the question. With that said, I would need to bring him with me. He is going on 10 years old, and has never met a dog or person he didn't love. I am glad to bring him for a meet and greet before any commitments are made. Every dog has a way to let you know they need something. My dog prefers to attempt cuddles when he needs anything, leaving me playing a guessing game until I get it right. He gets super excited when I get it right! As a senior dog, I leave his food out 24/7, and check it in the mornings when I get up and at night when I go to bed to make sure it's not empty. If I notice that it's empty at any point during the day, I simply refill it. Same with his water. His potty schedule is pretty much the same - first thing in the morning, any time he asks during the day, and then one last trip out at bedtime. I know not every dog can follow this schedule, but I have also had dogs who needed me to set alarms to take them out every hour or two, until they were properly house trained. All I need from you is your dogs schedule.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Larchwood
Michelle did an excellent job caring for our dog, Bailey. From the start, she was responsible, attentive, and clearly experienced with dogs. Bailey was happy, well cared for, and comfortable the entire time we were away, which gave us great peace of mind. Michelle kept us updated and made sure all of Bailey’s needs were met, going above and beyond to ensure she felt safe and loved. It’s clear that she truly cares about the animals she looks after. We would confidently recommend Michelle to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
