“Josie watched our dog for four days while we were gone on vacation. She was in communication with us throughout our trip. She was flexible with drop off and pick up times. From the pics we received, our dog looked like she had a lot of fun playing and relaxing too. She has been sleeping since we got her home.😊 I would book Josie again.”

“Had an amazing experience with Amber. She took care of Milo when we just arrived in the city. My dog is very anxious but felt so comfortable around her family. I will recommend her to everyone.”

“Casandra did an AMAZING job handling our dogs for the weekend while we got to enjoy a vacation in another state! This was our first experience using Rover and I have already recommended Rover and Casandra to our family and friends! A+++ Thank you!”

“Shayla is very responsive and great to work with. She treats your dog like one of her own. She has an awesome large fenced in back yard with so much space to play. I loved all the pictures and updates she sends. Will definitely be back for more stays!”

“I so appreciate how great Michelle and her family was with our fur babies. The pictures she shared and the reassuring texts were so comforting. The « kids » had a wonderful time with her.”

“We had an excellent experience with Jordan. She was flexible, friendly, and responsive. Our dog was well cared for, we received daily texts and photos, and we will definitely contact her again when we need to board our dog.”

About: I have grown up with high energy dogs. My family has always had dogs since I was a child. We treat dogs like family. We don't currently have any pets. We had two black lab mix dogs for 15 years. I will feed and let the dogs out in the morning. Dogs will be fed again in the afternoon. Dogs will be housed in the dog kennel in the garage overnight. There is a doggy door for dogs to access the backyard during the day. They will be locked inside the kennel and doghouse area in the garage overnight. I have a fenced in yard. Dogs will stay in the kennel in the garage with free access to the backyard through the doggy door during the day. The doghouse in the garage is insulated with a heat lamp during the winter. The dogs will be played with and receive attention from myself three times per day. I will take the dogs on a walk around the neighborhood once per day.
“Jessie had the best time!! Amber sent updated photos on a routine basis, let me know how Jesse was doing, and was great at responding. She and her husband are super great! 10/10 will be using again. :)”

“Jaden did an amazing job taking care of my dog, Bella, over the Fourth of July weekend. This was my first time leaving Bella with someone I didn’t know, so I was pretty nervous. Jaden made the whole experience so much easier by sending regular photo updates and keeping me informed, which really helped put my mind at ease. It was clear that Bella was well cared for and happy. I truly appreciate the care and communication, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Jaden again. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, and we currently have a 3-year-old pup named Hero. We raised and trained Hero from a puppy, so we’re comfortable with everything from basic training to daily routines and lots of playtime. Your dog will be treated like part of our family! They will get plenty of love, attention, and care while you’re away. I work from home, so your dog will get plenty of attention, supervision, and care throughout the day. No long stretches alone and lots of playtime. We have a fenced yard where they can go in and out of our garage to get water all day. We are happy to have crate trained dogs as well. Our dog spends most of his time inside our house and playing outside.

“This was our first time using Rover and MiKayla was great. She provided updates and pictures of our puppy while out of town for the weekend. Would highly recommend and will be using her services again the future.”

“They were super kind and approachable. We knew within a couple of minutes of meeting them that our kitties were in good hands. They kept us updated with how things were going and sent many pictures. We could see along the way that they didn't just do the basics for care, but also interacted with them as if they were there own pets. It was a great experience and we had no worries whatsoever.”

About: While I don’t have any pets right now, I would love to adore your fur baby while you’re away. They will not be lacking, snuggles, attention, walks, and praise. I work full-time in southern Sioux Falls but have a very flexible schedule to come home to check on and care for your fur babies during the weekdays. In the evenings and on weekends, I am home. Every other week I have my three kids ranging from 11 to 17 who also love pets! I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by animals, and quite frankly, a house doesn't feel like a home without a wagging tail or a soft purr. Since I don't have any pets of my own right now, your fur-baby becomes my absolute world the moment they walk through the door. Whether we’re exploring the quiet neighborhood on a long walk, playing a high-energy game of fetch in my large fenced-in backyard, or just enjoying some quality 'couch time,' I promise to shower them with the same love and devotion I’d give my own. From playful kittens to senior dogs who need a little extra patience and medication, I’m here to provide a safe, calm, and incredibly loving sanctuary for your best fur friend.
“Jack had an amazing time with Elizabeth and Henry. The updates and pictures were awesome, Jack may have had a better time on his vacation than my son and I did. Thank you so very much! 10/10 will book again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
