“Joanna was fantastic! She took such good care of our pups. Provided great updates after visits and pictures. We are visiting Louisville from out of town and knowing she was able to check in on the dogs gave us piece of mind. Would definitely book her again next time we are back.”

“Thank you for taking care of Chloe while I was gone, and I appreciate the flexibility as well as finding your way around with minimal directions, perfect sitter, and my animals are happy! 5 stars!”

“Jacob did a great job with our cats and dog while we were away during the holidays. There's a lot of them and they all need something different. We really appreciated the time/effort he put into cleaning the litter boxes, which is usually an issue for us!”

“Tabitha was great! She was so very accomadating for my last minute request. She was at my door for a meet and greet within 30 minutes of my inquiry. She provides top-notch service all the way including pics of my pup.”

“Michael looked after our dog and cats while we were out of town. He provided the best updates on how they were doing each visit, and sent plenty of photos and videos. They were happy and well looked after the whole time we were away, and we were so glad to have such reliable help!”

“Lydia came by for a visit before helping us our with our 1 year old, 100 lb puppy who had recently gone thru surgery. Mavericks had lots of energy and excitement for a puppy in a c-collar; But, Lydia was both willing and able to handle him and provide the breaks in the day he needed. We all look forward to having Lydia help us again in the future. Our puppy loved her visits and we loved the pictures she shared with us. Thanks Lydia!”

“Wonderful! Julia provided great service and peace of mind. I was put at ease with her immediately and did not worry about my cats during our week away. The daily check-ins were admired by my children (who missed their pets tremendously) and I was impressed by the care displayed during an unexpected weather event. I will book with Julia again!”

“Janae was great, she checked in on our cats for a couple days while we were out of town. We did an initial visit before the booking just to meet her and see how our cats reacted, they instantly took to her which was a relief. She also very kindly pulled in our trash bins while we were away, we did not expect that but very much appreciated! We would definitely book with Janae again.”

“Isabella was so great with our Kitty! She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures throughout our trip. She even made sure to provide detailed updates of Kitty's mood and behaviors during her visits. We will definitely be booking her again for future trips!”

“Meg took excellent care of Hannah while we traveled for the holidays. She was kind enough to watch Hannah relatively last minute, which was huge considering we needed someone for Christmas Eve and Christmas. I would absolutely recommend Meg if you're looking for someone prompt and caring!”

“This was our first time trying Rover and Rebecca immediately made me feel comfortable with booking drop in visits. She is polite and friendly and wanted to meet my two big dogs right away, and they instantly liked her! At the end of each visit Rebecca provided a report card and super cute pictures to let us know how the dogs and the house were. I would recommend Rebecca to anyone thinking about trying Rover!”

“Jian looked after my cats for two weeks when I was on vacation. She did absolutely amazing job and my cats loved her so much. “Thankyou Anne for taking care of my sweet babies Cooper and Ollie. I love that you sent me so many pictures, I can tell that the boys loved you, and were probably so glad to see a familiar face. I will definitely use you again. Thankyou again so much!!”

About: I know firsthand how stressful it can be to leave your pets with someone new. I’ve lived all across the country, and every time we moved, one of my biggest worries was finding someone I truly trusted with my dogs. That experience is a big part of why I want to provide the same kind of care and reassurance I’ve always looked for in a sitter. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have three dogs and two cats of my own, including a rescue pup so I totally get having a dog with some special quirks. I also spend time taking dogs from Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) out on field trips, giving them a chance to get out of the shelter, explore, play, and get some much-deserved one-on-one attention. I have a soft spot for the pets who need a little extra patience. One of my dogs is extremely anxious and terrified of thunderstorms, so I understand that not every dog immediately warms up to a new person — and that’s okay! I’m happy to take things at their pace and learn what makes them feel comfortable and safe. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes, as well as cats, and I’m comfortable administering medications and following detailed care routines. My experiences as a pediatric ICU nurse has taught me to be attentive to small changes, stay clam under pressure, follow detailed care instructions, and understand just how important it is to have someone you can trust caring for a member of your family. My dogs can be pretty anxious, so leaving them with a stranger has never been easy for me. I’m the pet parent who wants lots of updates and probably way too many pictures while I’m gone! When your pets are with me, expect plenty of photos and updates. I know how reassuring it is to see your dog happily lounging on the couch, enjoying their walk, or just being their goofy self while you’re away. I want you to enjoy your time away without wondering how things are going back home. Most importantly, I genuinely love spending time with animals. Whether your dog wants long walks, someone to throw their toy 100 times, or spend the evening curled up next to me, I’m happy to meet them where they are. I want you to be able to leave home knowing your pets are with someone who understands how much they mean to you - because I know exactly how that feels. I work full-time, but I have a flexible schedule that still leaves plenty of room for pet care! I work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays, which gives me even more flexibility for drop-ins, walks, and spending some extra time with your pets on those days. I’m also an early riser, so morning visits are no problem for me — I’m happy to start my day with a walk, breakfast, litter box cleanup, or some quality time with your pet before heading to work. I know how important reliable scheduling is when someone is depending on you to care for their pets, so I’ll keep my Rover calendar updated to clearly reflect my availability. If I accept a booking, you can feel confident that I’ve made sure I have the time to give your pet the attention and care they deserve — along with plenty of photo updates along the way! Your pet’s safety and your trust are my top priorities. I’ll always follow your care instructions closely and respect your home as if it were my own. Before walks, I’ll make sure collars, harnesses, and leashes are secure, and I’ll never let a dog off leash unless specifically instructed in a safe, designated area. During drop-ins, I’ll be mindful of doors, gates, medications, food, and anything else that could pose a safety risk. I’ll also pay attention to your pet’s behavior and never force interaction if they seem nervous or uncomfortable. As a pediatric ICU nurse, safety, attention to detail, and noticing when something seems “off” are second nature to me. I’ll keep you updated during each visit and communicate right away if I notice anything concerning. My goal is for you to feel completely comfortable knowing both your pet and your home are being treated with care and respect while you’re away.
About: Growing up, outside of school I spent a good portion of my free time volunteering at a local animal shelter and actively challenging kids around me to help provide care to pets in most need. Over the years, these experiences have translated into a unique skill set of tricks and techniques to provide your pet with the utmost attention and care they deserve. My goal is to offer any pet (cat, dog, any other small animal) under my supervision unparalleled quality of care and a loving home environment. My home has a fenced backyard. The fenced yard allows for free play at least once every 1-2 hours with my supervision. my home is a partitioned pet safe area where they can freely roam. I have tons of toys for all sizes and want their stay to be a vacation for them. :) I have one small corgi that are extremely friendly and love to play with new friends. If bringing your animal to my residence is not convenient, I offer a pick up and drop off service for a round trip fee. My goal is to simplify your pet care needs, by providing unparalleled quality care, a loving home environment, and peace of mind that your family member is being taken care of by a loving family I work at home as a front-end software developer, my work schedule is flexible meaning I can provide as much attention as your pet deserves Most services needed or requested can be accommodated. Pets are allowed to roam inside my home or in my yard with my supervision. I take dogs on at least 3 walks a day if weather permits. I can accommodate most requests I currently work a part-time job from home that allows for a ton of flexibility. That being said I have a ton of time to play with your pups and give them the attention and care they deserve. My schedule is very flexible and I seek to make things as convenient as possible for you. I have a fenced in yard and one friendly dog that are always looking to make new friends. When boarding I make sure to keep a close eye on any pet in my supervision. I have spare crates, bowls, blankets, and a mountain of toys to play with. In the summertime I have dog pools, sprinklers, and lots of fun

Grace was wonderful with my dog, Blue. Blue is 65 pounds and still has puppy energy and Grace handled that very well. Grace sent me many pictures during her visit with Blue which was really nice to get. She even made sure to change the TV channel for her since she doesn't like loud noises and the TV had switched to something with a lot of loud sound effects. I would and will book her in the future to take care of my sweet girl.

Allie was amazing! Our cats warmed up to her immediately, even my shy girl came out to play with her. She did an excellent job and went above and beyond to communicate with us. Plus we always received the cutest pictures! Gave us such a peace of mind while away from our fur babies!

Joanna was fantastic! She took such good care of our pups. Provided great updates after visits and pictures. We are visiting Louisville from out of town and knowing she was able to check in on the dogs gave us piece of mind. Would definitely book her again next time we are back.

Absolutely loved having Ashlea care for our girl gang of kitties! 2 of our girls are newly adopted shelter kittens and very shy. They didn’t hesitate for one second to get close with Ashlea and I could tell they quickly looked forward to seeing her each day. She will definitely be my go-to for pet sitting from now on. Thankful for the great care she took of our pets and our home ☺️

Jian looked after my cats for two weeks when I was on vacation. She did absolutely amazing job and my cats loved her so much. She communicated very promptly, super gentle to my babies and maintained everything exactly as I expected. She also sent me pictures and videos every visits. Highly recommended.

Oliva is a dog whisper, and a true animal lover. She is gentle and patient with your animal, has alot of knowledge about different dog behaviors and great instincts on modifications if needed. Olivia is very dependable and a great communication. She is to talk to if your schedule changes or your pets needs change. She goes above and beyond and really forms an instant connection withe your dog/ cat. My dogs knew when it was time for her to come take them for there walks, they would be waiting by the front door for her like clock work. My two dogs bonded with her on the first day and it really warmed my heart. Olivia is honest, caring, and a true angel .I will definitely be recommending her to others and be using her again.
Alex was an amazing sitter and was able to provide services last minute. My girls were very comfortable and appreciated meeting beforehand. Instructions were followed well and Alex reached out when further clarification was needed, which I very much appreciated.

Shaine took care of a feral cat that I have been caring for over the last eight years. Feral cats choose people not the other way around. It was obvious from how close this cat came to Shaine that she is good people. I would recommend Shaine for simple or complicated pet sitting needs.

Monique has been our trusted dog sitter for a couple of months now and we intend to keep hiring her going forward! She is on time, never misses a booking, and is flexible with our crazy schedules. Her care for our young, crazy puppy has lifted a lot of stress off of my wife and I with our full-time jobs. We highly recommend Monique.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
