“Out of 10, Timea is easily a 100! Professional, prompt, and obviously cares deeply about the pets she's tasked to care for. After initial outreach she was quick to schedule a meet & greet and took copious notes to ensure she understood the job. She kept me updated with thorough Rover card (notes and pics) after every visit. She went above and beyond after a particularly bad weather storm knocked out power at our home to ensure my older cat, Oshi, was warm and comfortable. Pets love her and pet owners should look no further than Timea as their next pet sitter!”
“Silvana took care of our cat and 2 birds while we were out of town for the weekend. She did a wonderful job and we couldn't have been happier with the attentive care she provided. She clearly followed my instructions, sent detailed updates on how they were doing, and sent some great photos! Thank you Silvana! We would love to hire you again!”

“Christian was our first ever Rover, and he did a great job sending us pictures and updates at each check in to ensure we felt comfortable leaving two big energetic dogs in his care! We came home to two very happy dogs and would love to work with Christian again the next time we need a sitter.”

About: I LOVE dogs of all types, especially medium to large breeds that love to walk. I have owned multiple dogs at one time and we live in a great location, by the river with lots of trails & dog friendly walking terrain. We have a fully fenced yard with lots of room to roam, allowing for frisbee & ball play time keeping the pups & humans engaged. Your fur friend will not be alone & we will offer free pets, walks & play time, as we have a pup as well who is Mr. Social! I’m currently working part time as a fitness coach close by & sub teacher & generally home most of the time. I love medium to large dogs, but just recently lost our 17 year old little dog. I have a fully fenced yard and always monitor our dogs outside. Inside, we use a fenced off area to keep dogs out of kitchen & downstairs. I prefer no dogs on furniture and up to date on vaccines.
“Courtney is so helpful with my puppy, Claude. She’s extremely communicative and punctual, and my dog loves her. She went above and beyond what I expected and I feel that all my dogs needs were met. Claude can’t wait to see Courtney again 🐶”

“Aina was so responsive when dropping in to care for my corgi. It was nice to receive pictures to ease my anxieties about leaving my dog at home while I was away since it was the first time I’ve hired a dog sitter. My dog seemed to be very comfortable and taken care of when I returned home.”

“Jessica was timely and our kitty bonded with her fast. She was able to play, feed and keep him occupied while I was out of town. I appreciated her updates and engagement with our fur baby.”

About: Hi there! I have been pet sitting for 7 years, and caring for animals is truly one of my greatest joys. Whether it's taking your dog on a long, energetic walk or patiently earning the trust of a shy kitty, I treat every pet as if they were my own. As a proud cat parent to my own furry companion, Izmir, I know exactly how important it is to leave your pets in safe, loving, and attentive hands. I’m always happy to send daily photo updates of all the playtime and snuggles so you can have total peace of mind while you're away My schedule is flexible, and I’m happy to arrange walk times together with you. Most of the times I am available in the mornings between 9:30 am to 2 pm! Your dog’s safety is my top priority. I always walk in safe, dog-friendly areas and keep a close eye on your pup at all times. I believe in building trust with both pets and owners through clear communication and reliable care. My goal is to create a happy, stress-free environment where your pets feels loved and secure.
About: I have been a veterinary technician for 8 years. I have dog sitting and veterinary experience. I can administer medications and perform nail trims if needed. Im available for drop ins and overnight stays if this is needed. I also offer house sitting services such as basic cleaning and watering plants. Your pet will recieve the routine care and enrichment they need. I will monitor your pet for health related changes as I am able to notice symptoms and small changes that occur through behavior and body language.
About: Passionate about loving and caring for animals, with professional service-dog training experience and expertise handling small, large, and giant breeds, working dogs, medically complex pets, and animals requiring individualized attention. My experience ranges from Jack Russells to a medically high-maintenance Great Dane and, currently, my white German Shepherd. I also have professional dog-training experience with Brandon McMillan at Lucky Dog Ranch in Los Angeles, including service-dog training. That experience taught me the importance of understanding canine behavior, body language, consistency, structure, and adapting my approach to each individual dog. I’m comfortable with strong and energetic dogs, seniors, special-needs pets, detailed feeding routines, and dogs requiring additional attention or care. I understand how difficult it can be to find someone you genuinely trust to walk or care for your beloved pet. I treat every dog as an individual, respect the training and routines you have established, and provide the same attentive, dependable care I would want for my own. I believe dogs thrive with consistency, so I do my best to maintain the schedule and routine they’re already comfortable with. I’ll follow your preferences for walks, meals, medications, potty breaks, playtime, training, and downtime. I’m active and happy to accommodate everything from leisurely neighborhood walks to longer, more energetic outings for dogs who need extra exercise and stimulation. I also make time for play, enrichment, affection, and plenty of rest. Every dog is different, so I tailor the day around their age, energy level, personality, and individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Safety and trust always come first. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, I take the time to understand their normal routine, personality, training, feeding schedule, medical needs, and any behaviors or triggers I should be aware of. My professional service-dog training experience has taught me to pay close attention to canine body language and behavior, use calm and consistent handling, and create an environment where dogs feel safe and comfortable. I follow each owner’s instructions closely and maintain the routines and boundaries their dog already knows. Walks are handled responsibly, doors and gates are always checked, and pets are supervised with their safety and comfort in mind. When caring for pets in your home, I’m equally respectful of your space and privacy. My goal is simple: for you to feel completely confident that both your pet and your home are in responsible, caring hands.

About: I have always had dogs growing up, ranging from collies to labs. Over the past few years, I've gained extensive experience pet-sitting dozens of different dogs, both big and small, with various behavioral and medical issues, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I take pride in getting to know each of my little clients' personalities and providing their owners with regular updates, including great pictures. I ensure everyone is comfortable in the new setting. I have experience handling dogs with epilepsy, seizures, skin conditions, kennel cough, emergency vet visits, stomach issues, and elderly dogs. If needed, I can administer oral medications and always follow the pet's regular routine to minimize stress. There's plenty of playtime, and dogs often hesitate to leave after staying with me, which I consider the best compliment for a pet-sitter :) I usually take dogs on four walks a day: in the morning, at lunchtime, after work, and before bed. I live near the off-leash Marymoor Park and enjoy bringing my furry guests there! I make sure pets are safe and comfortable whether they're in my home or their own. I follow instructions carefully, like feeding schedules and medication. I keep communication open with the owner and address any concerns about the pet's health or behavior quickly. I always stick to the pet's usual routine to keep them happy.
“Jacob is a fantastic sitter! I have to do a last minute booking and he was very flexible to help. He did a great job watching my two young cats for a couple of days. He was on time, sent me great pictures and detailed notes. My cats warmed up to him quickly since he is a sweet person. I can trust Jacob with my cats and home…Thank you Jacob!”

“Hope has been called the "cat whisper" in other reviews and it is true! We have 3 cats and one has been abused, so it takes a little warming up anyone new in the house. He is very happy to see Hope and has been very calm with her visiting. Hope took great care of them. She did drop in visits while we were away for the weekend. She sends a "Rover card" with each visit that includes details of her visit and picture of each cat, if possible. We had her come in twice a day and was worth it. Do not trust your pets' life to a neighbor. Hope is a true professional and you will return to a clean house, well cared for and healthy animals. We will for sure book Hope again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Stuart
Jennifer was a phenomenal cat sitter for our little Wally. She did a great job of connecting and bonding with him so he actually got social and play time with each of her visits. She went above and beyond with care, feeding, and cleanup, and we feel so lucky to have found her! Wally is glad to have a new friend, too! 😻

Alina was an absolute dream come true, and we feel so lucky to have found her. From our very first meet and greet, it was immediately clear how knowledgeable, professional, and comfortable she is with animals. Our dog is high energy and usually shy and skittish with new people, but Alina connected with her right away. She even tried a few commands and tricks during the visit, and our dog responded instantly - something we rarely see with new people. That alone gave us so much confidence. Even our typically reserved cat came right up to her, which told us everything we needed to know. Alina went above and beyond with communication. She took the time to clearly outline the plan for multiple drop ins and an extended overnight stay, and she provided thorough daily updates with photos that gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. What stood out most is that it truly felt like she enjoyed spending time with our pets, and they clearly enjoyed her too. That kind of care and attention is priceless. When we returned home, not only were our animals happy and well cared for, but our house was spotless. She took care of everything in a way that allowed us to fully relax on our trip and come home without a single worry. We cannot recommend Alina highly enough. She is reliable, professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We will absolutely be booking with her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
