Growing up, I helped care for my family’s Shih Tzu, Kelly, who lived a long life and gave me experience caring for an older dog and understanding the extra patience and attention senior pets need. I sat for neighbors for years and then began sitting for families whose kids I taught swim lessons at the town pool. I went to college pre-vet and worked at a vet’s office for several years before getting into restaurant work. I had an absolutely wonderful experience with my cat sitter! I have three cats, and they all warmed up to her so quickly — which says a lot because they don’t always trust new people. She clearly has a natural way with animals and made them feel comfortable right away. She spent a lot of quality time with them during each visit, not just the basics.
