“Kim is such an amazing sitter. We are so lucky to have found her and we literally could not ask for a better person to visit our puppy. She tired her out physically and mentally during her visits and our puppy is truly better behaved on days when Kim stops by. Kim is so patient with our puppy and on top of that she is so respectful of our home too. She has been such a pleasure to work with and I really can’t say enough good things about her 🥰❤️”

“Jordan was very professional and took very good care of our timid, difficult cat. We felt very comfortable leaving her in Jordan’s care. Jordan went above our expectations.”

“Reliable, friendly, kind, and took excellent care of our 2 cats and turtle. This was our first time using a pet sitter, and it couldn’t have been a more positive experience. Thank you, Nicole! 🐈🐢🐈⬛”

“Amanda was amazing with our dogs and bunny. Dogs were very comfortable with her and were very happy to see her each drop in . She was very attentive and detailed in each drop in and kept in touch throughout the whole week. I would highly recommend using her for any of your pets needs”

“Claudia was great with my pup. She is punctual, great with communication and an awesome dog sitter. My pup was very excited to have her stop by. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Fantastic. My cat was very comfortable and happy with Julia as her drop in visitor. She provided excellent service, updates, pictures, and made sure my cat was well cared for while I was away. 10/10”

“We had a short notice need for a sitter for “the girls”, Peaches & Reagan, and Emma and Trent responded promptly and were able to accommodate our schedule. It is so nice being able to count on someone and have “the girls” get so excited when they see them. Reagan for the extra attention and Peaches for an opportunity to get treats. LOL Dont hesitate if you need someone to watch your fur babies. They will be safe and and well taken care of. Thanks again Emma & Trent!”

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I provide dependable, compassionate care for pets as if they were my own. Whether you need pet sitting, drop-in visits, walks, or care in my home or yours, my goal is to ensure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have over 30 years of experience in the medical field, which has given me a strong foundation in caregiving, attention to detail, and recognizing the needs of others—including our furry family members. In addition to general pet care, I have experience providing gentle pet massage for senior pets and those recovering from injuries. Our family includes a friendly Goldendoodle and a tabby cat, and we have a secure fenced yard where dogs can safely play and explore. Throughout my life, I have cared for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and even a beloved pet duck who was part of my family for many years. I am comfortable caring for pets of all ages, from energetic puppies and kittens to senior pets requiring extra patience and attention. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your beloved companion, and I strive to provide the same love, care, and attention that they receive at home. “Asher took great care of my babies! He paid attention to every detail in my instructions (and there's a lot because my babies have allergies and special diets) I would book with him again and so should you :)”

“Sharon was great!! She came for a meet and greet with very short notice a few days before our planned visit and was very flexible with timing. On the day of her drop in, she let me know when she arrived at the house and sent me a picture of Audrey right away. Very very happy!!”
About: I’ve been caring for dogs for about eight years and have had four of my own — a German Shepherd, a Boxer, a Havanese, and a Maltese-Yorkie mix. I’ve also helped care for my neighbors’, friends’, and family’s dogs when they needed it. I’m comfortable with both big and small breeds and love making sure each dog feels safe, loved, and well cared for while their owner is away. I’m currently attending college, so my schedule is flexible around my classes. I’m available all day Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, after 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and after 11 AM on Fridays. I can provide walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship I don’t offer pet sitting at my home as well as dog walking because I already have two dogs and three cats and don’t want to put any animals in a hectic environment. However, I’m happy to come to your home to care for your dogs or cats. I make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their own environment, following all instructions you provide.
About: Animals have always been an important part of my life. Growing up, I lived with two tuxedo cats who completely stole my heart. As I got older, I took on many of their daily care responsibilities, including feeding them, cleaning their litter boxes, playing with them, and making sure they felt loved and comfortable. Today, my wife and I are proud pet parents to two black cats. In addition to caring for cats, I have experience watching a toy poodle puppy under one year old. My responsibilities have included taking her outside for regular bathroom breaks, supervising walks, engaging her in play and exercise, teaching basic tricks and commands, reinforcing good behavior, and helping her work through separation anxiety. Caring for a young puppy taught me the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, patience, and attentiveness to a pet's individual needs. Whether caring for cats or dogs, I am committed to providing a safe, loving, and reliable environment where pets feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for. I understand that every animal has a unique personality, and I strive to give each pet the same level of attention and affection that I would want for my own. i work part time in the mornings and am available most days after 1pm. I am a doctoral student at Stony Brook University, so I am flexible to watch your pup or kitty any time in the afternoons/evenings. If needed, I can do an early morning stop by at 6:30AM prior to heading to work. in my clients home, I will be respectful of property, taking off shoes before entering the house, cleaning up any messes that the animal/myself may create, ensuring the animal has food, water, litter box, toys, etc. accessible, and to lock up the house, windows, and any gates prior to leaving the home. I will always accommodate the clients requests. In my home, I have multiple floors to separate my animals from the animal(s) coming into my home. I also have a fully fenced in, large backyard for a dog to run around in. We have a home security system as well to ensure safety.
“Kelly is amazing! She was very quick to respond and was able to help us out when our usual sitter cancelled last minute. She took great care of our puppy and provided lots of updates!”

About: I have pet sit other dogs prior but the one dog that sticks out is my sister’s black lab. Shakira was a black lab mutt with an auto immune disease. She needed twice daily medication and to be taken out side frequently. I work nights as a custodian for a school district ! So I’m available early to mid mornings for walks or house sitting over the weekends. As I have a cat, my number one priority for him is always making sure the doors are shut. He’s an indoor kitty and I ensure that it stays that way. Always guaranteed to have food and water and a clean litter box.
“Melissa was amazing with our Stella! This was our first time using rover and Melissa made us feel comfortable and secure that Stella was in great hands! We will definitely be using Melissa again and can’t recommend her enough! :)”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stony Brook. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
