About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and love them all big to small. I’m a dog owner myself, I have a 14-year-old Boston Terrier and a 2-year-old Golden Retriever. So I’m very used to both senior dogs and high energy pups. I really understand how important it is to have someone dependable caring for your pet. About: My background in canine care began at the Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center in Huntington, NY in 2008. I was employed there for several years as a dog walker and socializer, working with a wide variety of dogs and puppies from many different walks of life. All of the dogs were rescues, and so special care needed to be provided, with exercise, playtime, feeding, and even medication distribution. After working at the shelter, I found myself at a few local grooming parlors, working as a bather. As you've probably experienced, most dogs do not love being bathed and groomed, and so I would try my very best to make them comfortable in the unfamiliar situation they were in, taking the time to check in on them frequently and give them lots of reassurance and loving. Patience goes a long way! In January of 2015 I had my first two-month long house and pet sitting job. However, since then I've been working a full time office job and have been unable to enjoy much time with canine companions. I will regularly pet sit for close friends and family, but I'm ready to spend more time around furry friends! I'd love to meet you and your pup and ensure that they're properly taken care of and loved while you're out on the weekend, working, or away on vacation! About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have been caring for them most of my life, so being attentive to their needs comes naturally to me. I treat every pet like they’re my own; making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m reliable, patient, and pay close attention to routines, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, or just giving them the extra affection they’re used to. I’ll always keep you updated with photos and check-ins for peace of mind. I’m especially patient with shy or anxious dogs and take the time to help them feel at ease. My fiancé, Eric has also always grown up with dogs and was responsible for taking care of dogs and his cat while growing up and they all lived will into their senior years. He is great with more high energy and active dogs, going on long walks, or runs and hikes with them. I work full time where I commute Monday-Friday. Weekends I’m home. My Fiancé also works full time but he gets out a little earlier than I do. For weekend stays we are available to give your furry family the most attention and care. If there is need during the week I’m usually away from home for 10 hours during the day including my commute time to and from work. We will walk and feed them before we leave in the morning and as soon as either of us gets home will do the same and then again before bedtime. In our home, pets are cared for in a calm, safe environment. We live on the second floor of a house in a suburban neighborhood with sidewalks, which allows for safe, structured walks. While we don’t have direct yard access, we make sure dogs get regular walks, exercise, and attention. I also have a senior cat who is naturally shy and takes time to warm up, so I’m very understanding of pets who may be anxious or need a slower, more gentle approach. In a client’s home, I focus on maintaining your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, playtime, or quiet time. I’m attentive to their behavior and needs, and I always aim to make them feel comfortable and secure while you’re away.

“Fantastic care for unusual animals. Amanda was so diligent with the feeding needs of my turtle. She even volunteered a lettuce leaf as a snack. She took great care of the fish without overfeeding and provided medical care for one of them. Then she very kindly agreed to water my plants. Pictures and videos everyday. Lots of communication. I will absolutely use her again and you should too. If she does this well with a turtle, imagine how great you'll be with your cats and dogs.”

Plus she also let the cats have some outdoor time in the snow (they are indoor/outdoor cats so it was good that they got some outdoor time while I was away so things seemed normal).”

About: If you require a morning walker or need someone to run a few miles with your energetic dog, I am your person. I have experience with various types and sizes of pets. I am also very meticulous about their needs and yours. Please let me know their preferences and behaviors so I can best meet their needs. As a student my schedule varies but it I am typically available for morning and afternoon services such as walks and check-ins. I could also accommodate afternoons services depending on the week and request. My weekends are typically free unless specified otherwise. Available to do dog sitting on weekends (Friday, Saturday) but message me directly for my weekday availability. If you are requesting drop-in services at your house, please let me know what your pet requires. I can offer play time, refill water and food, medication administration, brushing, and complete certain household tasks. Occasionally, if I do overday dogsitting, your dog will have a fenced-in backyard to run around in.
