“This was the first time for Alena to take care of Booker and everything went very well. We initially had Alena over for a meet and greet and upon her return a few days later Booker was very happy to see her. Alena even took Booker for a walk which he always enjoys. Alena followed our instructions and communicated when we inquired. We are just visiting Lake Tahoe for the summer and needed a sitter for our 100lb Bernese Mountain dog and Alena did a fantastic job. Looking forward to using her when needed.”

“We have had Dyisha look after our 3 dogs and our house multiple times and she is an incredibly thoughtful, respectful and professional sitter. It makes such a big difference when you can leave for a few weeks and know everything will be so well looked after and our dogs will get all the love, attention and cuddles that they demand (and boy do they demand it!). We are so glad to have found Dyisha!”

“Leo did a wonderful job with our two dogs! We had a very quick turn around trip and Leo was able to house sit with such short notice was great. Our dogs seemed very happy upon our arrival. Our home was left extremely clean and as we left it. We will definitely book Leo in the future. Thanks Leo!”

I raised my pup since 11 weeks and I follow the AbsoluteDogs training methodology which has shaped Nori to be the adventure dog of our dreams! ❤️ I work part-time remotely, so am available most of the day to care for dogs. And my pup is available at all times for playtime. I have a pen for separating my pup away from yours if necessary, and any client’s dog will be walked on leash unless specifically requested by the client. I only provide baths for short haired, smooth coated dogs, and I can also provide basic obedience training using positive reinforcement.

“Brenna was absolutely wonderful. Helped take care of our dogs while we were away and was super flexible with us. She was very communicative and took really good care of everyone. Would have her back again!”

About: I live in a private home with a large, fully fenced-in yard off of Ski Run Blvd with 4 female rescues. I have had and cared for dogs (large and small) as well as cats for 13 years and am loving, patient, and responsible. I love to get outside for runs down to the beach or to go hiking in the area, and try to bring at least one dog with me on every adventure. I have raised both puppies and cared for elderly dogs, including my own Golden Retriever Stewie who sadly passed away two years ago at the age of 12. I look forward to meeting and caring for your furry family members as well as I do my own! My schedule varies, but I keep it up to date in the app and can be flexible if anything comes up or if needs change. I have a fully fenced in, private backyard off of a quiet street that is perfect for lots of running around with my 3 dogs, who are incredibly friendly and get along with dogs of all ages and sizes (and are great at tiring out puppies!). My dogs are crate trained and usually are in their crates at night and when I am away for more than a couple hours, and I would be happy to do the same or whatever is preferred for yours.

My schedule is completely open for pet care, depending on your pets needs / schedule , will determine the level of care I offer. I love taking pups out for fun adventures or caring for your feline pets in the comfort of their home. To minimize your pets stress , you can expect me to stay in your home. This helps keep your pets on their normal routine and environment and ensure they're happy and comfortable while the family is away.
“John was able to hangout at our hotel with our 2 dogs allowing for us to get in a day of snowboarding. The boys had a great time and were well taken care of. John was very easy to communicate with and accommodating with a last minute change in plan.”

I don't have any pets right now, so yours will get my full attention. My gal Eli crossed the rainbow bridge this past spring and I'm not ready for another yet, but I miss doggo time. Experienced with senior care, mobility challenged dogs, and administering medication. I currently work very part time (Friday and Saturday afternoons, occasional other days), so I have plenty of time to devote to your pet. I miss daily walks! I have a fenced in back yard. Both front and back entrances have 4-5 stairs to the door, can carry dogs up to 65 lbs or assist. There aren't any other pets in the house so yours will have it all as a staycation. “Gabriel was absolutely incredible. We’ve had bad luck in the past when it comes to leaving our two fur babies for vacation, work or otherwise. Gabriel was so accommodating and communicative, it really helped our separation anxiety. Our puppies absolutely love him and all the walks and cuddles he provides. We can’t thank him enough for allowing us to break away for a while.”

About: Hi! I’m Georgette — a lifelong animal lover and Tahoe resident since 2008 with over 6 years of regular pet-sitting experience. I’m calm, patient, and active, and I love spending time outside keeping pets happy, exercised, and engaged. I work well with high-energy breeds, large dogs, and multi-pet households. I care for dogs and cats of all ages, including puppies and seniors, and I’m comfortable giving both oral and injectable medications. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and overnight stays in your home (no boarding). Visits and walks are typically 30 minutes, and I am available throughout the South Lake Tahoe/Stateline area. As a self-employed web designer, I’m reliable, communicative, and flexible with scheduling. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets and your home, and I take that responsibility seriously. You’ll always get updates and photos so you can feel confident your pets are in good hands. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m self-employed as a web designer, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to plan my work around pet visits, walks, and overnights. That means I can be consistent with timing, responsive to changes, and fully present when I’m caring for your pets — not rushing in between other commitments. I enjoy being outside and active, so walks and check-ins are something I genuinely look forward to each day. I provide care in my clients’ homes so pets can stay in their own familiar environment and routines. During visits and overnights, I focus on keeping things consistent with what your pets are used to — feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and quiet time. I make sure dogs get proper exercise and attention, and cats get the calm, respectful care they prefer. I keep litter boxes, food areas, and living spaces tidy, and I always double-check doors, gates, and leashes for safety. I also send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pets are comfortable and well cared for.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Stateline
Lucia was tremendous! She came for a meet and greet the day before. Missy liked her right away. When she came the next morning she was on time and Missy took to her right away as a returning friend. Lucia has a humble confidence, that made me feel completely confident in her and trusted her in my home. I wish she was staying in town permanently so Missy and I could have trusted sitter, I’m relieved I’ll have access to her help for the month. Lucia is a great communicator, capable, competent, reliable, considerate, responsible and was great with Missy. I will absolutely request her again if I need a sitter.

Kelly has gone and beyond taking care of our 2 dogs. She provided many updates and photos while we were away. She is very patient with our puppy and we came back to well taken care dogs. We came back to a clean house while taking care of our puppy and went above and beyond to take our puppy to the vet when there was an emergency. We are so grateful for her services and will definitely use her services more. Best pet sitter on Rover!
Dyisha was incredible! I can't say enough great things about her. She stayed at our house with our puppies for a week and took excellent care of them as well as our house. I'm pretty sure it was cleaner when I came home than when I left. The dogs actually seemed sad today that she was gone. She walked them daily, and played with them a ton! Highly recommend her and will definitely use her again in the future!

Corrina is the absolute best!! She took wonderful care of our three animals during our house-sitting stay, and we felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands. We would have her care for our pets again in a heartbeat and couldn’t recommend her more highly.

Catrina was awesome! She cared for my two senior dogs. She gave them their medication and took excellent care of them. She sent me pictures and kept me updated on how my pups were doing. She stayed at my house and left it clean and organized. I’m so happy I got the chance to meet her and have her care for my fur babies! I would highly recommend her!

Samantha was great with our two pups. She stayed at our home with them and took them for long walks, sent us pics while we were away, and took great care of our home. House looked great when we gat back and dogs were quite happy and clearly very comfortable with her. Definitely recommend Samantha for pet sitting and / or house sitting. Would definitely book with her again.

Mckenna is fantastic! She was so responsive and punctual. This was my first time using Rover. She explained the process to me and helped make it easy. Our pup loved her and it is clear she has great rapport with animals. She sent us photo updates and really put us at ease with her responsible nature. We look forward to using her services again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stateline walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stateline maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stateline choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stateline. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
