“Michelle is my first and only choice when it comes to caring for my dogs. She treats your fur babies like they’re her own, giving them love, attention, and the best care while you’re away. Knowing they’re with her gives me complete peace of mind. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate.”

“Ashton was such a blessing to our family. She cared for my 3 doggies and kitty while we were gone. She agreed to watch my fur babies with limited notice and went above and beyond to care for them. She sent me daily pictures, took the doggies for walks, gave them love and stayed later than originally planned to feed them and check on them. Highly recommend. We would definitely use her again.”

“Annabelle is a very reliable, smart, conscientious pet sitter. She took care of my pup after she had had spay surgery to make sure she didn’t get to crazy or tear her stitches out. I highly recommend her for your fur babies!!”

“Nadia went above and beyond. She took our pup paddle boarding & on a hike. I think our dog has a new best friend! Nadia left our apartment sparkling clean. I highly recommend booking with her!”

“Katie was great with our pup & cat. She stayed at our home and provided such great care for our animals they were both in great spirits when we arrived back home. She sent updates everyday while we were away and was super friendly!”

“Shaira stayed over with our dog and was everything we could ask for when we are away. She was very communicative, gave updates and pictures through the stay, letting us know how it was going. We could see from the photos how comfortable and content our dog was with her. Don't ever hesitate when your pet is in Shaira's care.”

About: I have been taking care of & rescuing animals my whole life from cats dogs to birds gerbils and mice. I grew up on a country drive surrounded by friends and family who all had animals. I would bring my next door neighbor’s cat who was usually outdoors, back home with me just to make sure she was safe while he was away. On our drive we had a golden lab, a ridgeback, Pomeranians & chihuahuas- many personalities and sizes. I help TNR (trap neuter release) in my city to help stray cats & have learned so much about behavior, handling & caring for even “feral” animals. I’ve had friends text me last minute in regards to baby sitting a new puppy they got or simply checking in on their senior dog because they know this is never a burden for me but something I love to do! There are 3 dogs & 4 cats at our home who always have enrichment surrounding them, get plenty of play time & supervised outdoor enrichment (I don’t ever let my cats outside to roam). They get professionally groomed, teeth cleaned, nails trimmed, we have lavender pet diffusers, salmon oil, meal toppers etc. our pets comfort & care is not taken lighting in my home & it certainly will never be taken lightly in yours! In addition to my care for animals, I have handled injured wild birds & either rehabilitated them or seeked a professional rehab to get them care. I rescued a baby squirrel found in the road & got it rehabbed, I’ve rehomed 3 litter of kittens & 2 momma cats that were strays. Animals have always been my top priority & concern, you will never have to question if yours is in loving hands. As of right now I am currently not doing any other work & am hoping to turn this into a full time job with families who get to know me & want me to be there forever sitter! I will have an open schedule until further notice making me an extremely flexible option for owners seeking care. When it comes to me you will constantly get updates, communication & pictures unless you tell me otherwise! If I’m unsure of something I will always ask rather than just doing. I am one the loves to engage, give company & keep them in supervision. You're not gonna get a sitter who just sits on their phone ignoring your pet the whole time but rather someone who wants to get to know your pet! I love playing, entertaining, cuddling & don’t mind getting a little dirty for sake of establishing & earning a trusted relationship with the animals I care for! I love lists or details about specific needs or schedules so I can give the upmost care & comfort to the pets and owners.
About: I care with love, patience, and presence. I’m experienced with both playful pups and senior pets, and I treat every animal like family. Reliable, calm, and faith-rooted. Your pet is safe with me. 🐾 Pet care fits naturally into my week when I’m not waitressing, serving in student ministry, or at church. I have a flexible schedule and love spending my free time caring for animals with presence, love, and joy. 🐾 I care for pets in my clients’ homes by following their routines closely, giving lots of love and attention, and keeping their space clean and secure. I respect your home like it’s my own and send regular updates so you feel at ease while you’re away. 🐾

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats my entire life and I house-sit/dog-sit as a part-time job, as well as work at two stables. I grew up with the responsibility of taking care of my own pets, so I enjoy taking care of other people’s animals! Now that my semester is over, my schedule is very open- almost everyday, except Fridays, I have time (unless I have prior plans, and I will try to update my schedule as accurately as possible). I’ll be able to feed, let your dogs out, walk them/play with them, spend time with your cats, etc.! I’d like to know a day in advance, but I could possibly accept a same day booking. I take care of every animal like they’re my own; I’ve taken many dogs off the streets to find their owners. This is no different, your animal will be treated with respect and love while you’re away! I won’t be taking care of animals at my house (due to my own pets), but I would possibly be up for overnight house-sitting once I’ve built a trusting relationship with a client and their animals. But for now I will only be doing drop-in visits and walking.
About: I grew up around all sorts of animals and loved to go above and beyond their care. From fish, to guinea pigs, tortoises, dogs and cats I love to spend time caring for all animals. From cozy homes for strays to insulin shots for my senior diabetic dog, I can do it all. No request is too silly to ensure the proper care and happiness of each unique individual. I currently work from home part time with my little one and would love to incorporate taking care of your pet family while you’re away, anytime of day. From litter box scooping to cage cleaning, I take the time to ensure your animals environment is exactly as they (and you!) would prefer. An animals environment is one the largest factors to ensuring their happiness and good health and one of the most important as a sitter.
About: I’ve had dogs my whole life, my dogs are my babies and I would treat yours the same. Fully fenced in yard to play fetch in and run around I’m currently a stay at home dog dad so they will never be left alone, always ready to take outside and let play with toys. I let my dogs out every couple of hours, always have food available for them and take them outside to play fetch whenever the weather permits
“Emily was great to have as a house guest and pet sitter. We came home to an impeccably clean house and a happy dog! We are grateful for her service and help, will definitely book her again. Thanks Emily!”

“Karen did a wonderful job sitting for our geriatric greyhound in our home! Very reliable and put our minds at ease with regular updates and pictures. Would highly recommend!”

About: Hey there! My name's Graham and I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to care for your pets! I've grown up with pets my whole life! From many dogs, a cat, a bird, to even a bearded dragon, I've loved helping my family care for our pets! Now, I'm ready to help you continue to take care of yours! I'm currently a medical assistant and will be attending Physician Assistant school later this year and I'm excited to use this as an opportunity to save some money before starting school in the fall! I'm open to any and all commissions and would love to hear from you! I work full-time as a medical assistant with my current weekly schedule of: Monday through Friday (7:15 am–5:30 pm most days, Fridays until 12:30 pm) I’m available for pet sitting or drop-ins before and after work on weekdays, and fully available most weekends. I'd love to get to know you and come do a friendly pre-client visit to meet you and your pet and hear about clear instructions for their care! I’m open to helping in any way and can accommodate!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, kitties, and farm animals since I was 12 years old. Family, friends, and neighbors have trusted me for years to ensure their fur babies are well taken care of while they are away, whether it’s a weekend or a week. What sets me apart from other sitters is that I’m a reliable and attentive animal lover who understands that every pet has its own personality and needs. I prioritize safety, consistency, and comfort, making sure pets feel secure while you’re away. With a strong sense of responsibility and genuine care for animals, I treat every pet as if they were my own—providing not just basic care, but companionship and trust you can count on. I work a full time job 3 days a week for 12.5 hour shifts. It is understandable if that deters animals owners away from choosing me. On the days off, the fur babies will get all the love I can give them! When I’m on a sitting job, I always stay at the clients home for the duration of the sitting job so their fur babies are in the comfort of their own home with no environment changes.
“I was very nervous to leave my 12 year old dog any where but my own house and have never had anyone house/dog sit overnight except for family, but after meeting and talking with Claudia I felt more at ease. She sent me messages with videos of my dog being walked, played with, given treats, getting loved up and my dog always looked super happy! Claudia took care of my dog, my garbage, my mail, and my house while I was away on vacation for a week. I would definitely hire her again! Thanks Claudia for allowing me to enjoy my vacation and giving my dog his own little vacation while still being comfortable in his own home!”

About: I have had dogs and other small animals since childhood. I also have a background in emergency medicine that can come in handy. I’m also currently working from home and have an extremely flexible schedule I work part time from home or can take my work with me. Making it easy to walk dogs and spend time with them throughout the day. I usually get in 3-5 miles daily. Making it easy to get dogs exercised. I have a fenced yard with one dog who is an incredible “host”. Not minding company. I also have the ability to rotate animals safely inside and out of the home if they are not happy together.
“Arica has watched our two senior huskies twice now and she is just awesome! Our old boy requires lots of medications and has some special needs and she’s so kind and gentle with him, making sure he gets some walks around the yard. Our old girl is still spunky and is tricky to give a pill, but Arica was quick to understand the best method and had no issues. She sent pictures, updates, and my old fluffs were so relaxed and happy when we came home. She made sure our house was ready for us as well. I recommend Arica to anyone who wants their pups in good hands while away. She’s wonderful.”

Nadia was excellent! She stayed at our house for 2 nights with our Labrador who has some anxiety. Our lab felt right at home with Nadia. She was also super respectful of home and left things very clean & neat. We will rebook in the future and appreciate all she did for us.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Springfield on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Springfield walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Springfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Springfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Springfield. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
