“Shaira stayed over with our dog and was everything we could ask for when we are away. She was very communicative, gave updates and pictures through the stay, letting us know how it was going. We could see from the photos how comfortable and content our dog was with her. Don't ever hesitate when your pet is in Shaira's care.”

About: I grew up around all sorts of animals and loved to go above and beyond their care. From fish, to guinea pigs, tortoises, dogs and cats I love to spend time caring for all animals. From cozy homes for strays to insulin shots for my senior diabetic dog, I can do it all. No request is too silly to ensure the proper care and happiness of each unique individual. I currently work from home part time with my little one and would love to incorporate taking care of your pet family while you’re away, anytime of day. From litter box scooping to cage cleaning, I take the time to ensure your animals environment is exactly as they (and you!) would prefer. An animals environment is one the largest factors to ensuring their happiness and good health and one of the most important as a sitter.

About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I've been lucky to parent dogs, cats, and horses, including two retired racing Greyhounds and a tuxedo cat who made me a certified cat person. Beyond my own, I've been caring for pets professionally (i.e., beyond friends and family) for more than 15 years, and after taking some time away while completing my PhD and living abroad, I'm excited to be back doing something I've always loved. In 2011, I started walking pups professionally in Chicago as a side gig during my breaks from tour managing for a band, which quickly turned into my dog-walking clients asking me to stay in their home with their pets while they were away. Over the span of just a few years, I built relationships with more than 30 clients, with most of them turning into repeat (and repeat and repeat!) clients. I've cared for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, from tiny Yorkies to Great Danes and everything in between. I've also worked with many pets that required extra patience or specialized care. I've cared for senior pets, dogs < 1yo, a blind Australian Cattle Dog, a deaf cat, highly anxious and stranger-wary dogs, VERY stranger-wary cats, a Beagle with a seizure disorder, and pets receiving medication. I've also been the go-to sitter for a couple of families going through difficult times with their critters, including caring for their pets with terminal illnesses during their final days (both a black lab named Maggie and the sweetest deaf black cat named Sam) . Over the years, I've handled a few very unexpected situations as well. Whether it's a medical event requiring an unexpected trip to the veterinarian or even arriving to a cat drop-in visit to find that the apartment had experienced a break-in (in my Chicago days, which included working with police and gathering the terrified cats from the apartment stairwell), I've stayed calm, communicated clearly, and focused on keeping the critters safe and the clients informed. There have also been several occasions where I've extended my stay last-minute due to a client's canceled flight or interrupted travel plans. One of the biggest differences between my prior pet sitting days and now is my flexibility due to my remote work. When I pet sat extensively throughout Chicago, my tour managing days had ended and I worked a full-time 9-5 downtown. This was fine for my clients, as they had a similar schedule. But I now work fully remotely, so I have a highly flexible schedule that allows me to spend much more time with your pets throughout the day than I could years ago. I essentially do my best to work around your pet's normal routine. I'm happy to accommodate early mornings, evenings, or midday visits whenever possible. My goal is to make life feel as normal and stress-free as possible for your pets while you're away. When I'm in your home, I treat it with the same respect I'd expect someone to show mine, as I've also hired pet sitters over the years for my own critters. I follow your instructions (the more the better!), keep you updated with photos (lots!) and messages, and make sure your pets receive the same routines, rules, and attention they're used to (e.g., their feeding schedules, medications, favorite walking routes, cuddle time, or simply keeping them company).

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover who has been caring for pets since I was 14 years old. Over the years, I’ve helped care for dogs, cats, and other animals for friends, family, and neighbors, and I truly treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable leaving your pet with someone you trust. I pride myself on being dependable, attentive, and loving while also following your pet’s routine and needs closely. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or just a calm and safe presence, I’m happy to provide care that fits their personality. I’m comfortable with pets of different ages, sizes, and temperaments, and I’m happy to communicate regularly with updates and photos so you always know how your furry family member is doing. I would love the opportunity to meet you and your pet! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work part-time and am currently completing my master’s degree online, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be home often. This flexibility allows me to provide consistent attention, walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship throughout the day rather than pets being left alone for long periods. When pets stay in my home, I focus on creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment where they can feel relaxed and cared for. I follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and rest. I know consistency helps pets feel secure, especially when they are away from their owners. I provide plenty of attention, supervision, and affection based on each pet’s personality and comfort level. Whether a pet enjoys being active and playful or prefers a quieter, relaxed environment, I adjust my care to meet their needs. I also make sure pets always have access to fresh water, a clean environment, and a safe space to rest. I take safety very seriously and monitor pets closely while they are in my care. I am happy to follow any specific instructions, including medications, crate routines, or special care requests. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel confident and reassured while they are away.

About: Hi there! My name is Anna Williams, I am 25 years old, and I absolutely love animals! 😊🐾 I have a fairly open schedule and can usually accommodate anytime you need me. Having grown up on a farm, I have worked with just about every kind of animal since I was a baby— including dogs, cats, rabbits, cows, horses, goats, poultry, pigs, alpacas, reptiles, ferrets, and much more! I was the main caretaker of the animals on the farm which has given me an abundance of hands-on experience when it comes to animal and veterinary care; including animal behaviors, training, shot administration, oral medications, medical care, etc. In my life, I have owned over 20 doggos and more kitties than I can count, from babies to seniors. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to take care of their pets since I was around 10 years old. Animals have been my passion for as long as I can remember. Your pets are my number one priority and will be treated like absolute royalty while you’re away! 👑 Over the years, I’ve worked at a veterinary clinic as an assistant, taken many classes on animal behavior and training, attended seminars and workshops about veterinary medicine, traveled to educational events about animals, and spent countless hours studying alongside veterinarians and animals. I have always dreamed of becoming a small & large animal veterinarian. I would also like to open my own pet daycare, activity center and salon in the future. I also worked for a year at a doggy day care and spa, where I learned about the different personalities and behaviors of just about every kind of dog. It was an absolutely amazing experience— and I even worked with up to 35 doggos in one day (which was awesome!!). Whatever kind of pet you may have— whether it be tiny or huge, fluffy or scaly— I am your girl for the job. I absolutely love taking care of animals no matter what they may be. I will love your pets like they’re my own babies! All sizes, ages, and types of animals are welcome. This includes (but is not limited to) pet sitting, dog walking, farm chores, training, and more. I will make sure to send lots of photos of your pets, as well as give them my utmost attention and love. If you’re interested in care for animals other than dogs or cats, or in need of an experienced hand for your farm animals or horses— just shoot me a message for more information: twistedmaple.anna @ gmail .com And please feel free to message me if you have any questions! Thank you and I hope you and your pets have a wonderful day! :) *rates may increase depending on distance* *My son may accompany me to pet visits. *My family (my son and his father) would be coming with me for overnight stays. We will set up a meet and greet ahead of the booking so you can get to know us! I’m currently a full-time pet sitter, which means I usually have an open schedule! I am typically available between 9am-11pm every day of the week. My passion has always been caring for animals. Your pets will be treated like royalty. I have been in a great variety of situations with animals of all types throughout my life, which has given me a plethora of experience when it comes to earning your pet’s trust and love!

About: My name is Paige and I am currently working at a local dog daycare where I have been employed since February 2017. I also work at a local boarding kennel and am a dog trainer there. I’ve worked there since January 2022. My dogs and I compete in dog sports (dock diving, disc, etc) as much as we can! I have even gotten some clients into it. I went to college for a year in Florida (Lynn University) and studied biology, taking part in their animal welfare club and the zoological society. I have my associate in arts from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. I have a certificate in Dog Emotion and Cognition from Duke University. I also have a certificate of attendance for a canine fitness workshop hosted by Elite K9/Northeast K9/Colorado State University Pueblo. My schedule varies throughout the week as I work a full time job and teach training classes. Please reach out to me about my schedule to accommodate pick up/drop off. I have several personal dogs, so safety is first and foremost for me. I frequently have at least two client dogs staying with me. I utilize crates, baby gates, and x-pens to ensure safety. We live on an acre and it is completely fenced in. If you are looking for a place to board your pup, but want a more intimate and home-like setting, look no further! Rest assured that your dog will be physically and mentally stimulated daily. Dogs are kept in 4’ x 4.5’ x 4.5’ runs with access to water 24/7. All runs include stall mats and/or Kuranda dog beds (cots)- which are great for the older guys and gals! Your dog will be let out at least 3x daily for a minimum of 30 minutes each time for potty breaks. Several hours are spent outside daily for group play if your dog tolerates it. Yard time includes anything and everything your pet loves to do: sniffing, exploring, fetch, pool time, basking in the sun, and playing with other pups (if they are ok with others!). Benebones are included with each run! Blankets/beds/toys are welcomed if your dog is not a chewer or shredder. Otherwise I provide dog-safe bedding. When dogs are not playing, they are resting in their 4.5 x 4.5ft x 4.5ft kennels with comfy raised cot beds (stall mats also available). Due to the large amount of dogs I have here (including my own), this is crucial for their safety and provides structure for all. I currently work split shifts between the daycare, boarding & training, which allows me to be home at random hours of the day to let dogs out. Quieter than a boarding kennel!!! And daycare included! Dogs are kept in spacious kennel runs with their very own comfy beds (personal stuff encouraged if not a shredder!) if they are not outside running around being crazy dogs. My yard is completely fenced.

We had Eden house sit for our 15 year old kitty and a 5 month old puppy who we had never left with a sitter before. Needless to say we were nervous on how the puppy would do since we were on vacation in Mexico for a week. Our puppy immediately warmed up to Eden and Eden kept us updated at least twice a day in addition to lots of cute pictures of our animals. We were very pleased with the care our pets received and look forward to using Eden again when we need to get away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lakeview

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost of House Sitting in Lakeview is $43 per night as of October 2026. Most bookings cost between $27 and $56 per night. On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets, and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the price shown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.

As of October 2026, there are 311 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lakeview. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lakeview walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lakeview maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lakeview choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
