About: I have grown up with dogs and cats from the time I was a newborn. I have had small, medium, and large dogs throughout my life (and bonus cats at my grandma’s house!). As a medical student living away from home, my classmates have come to rely on me to pet sit (dogs & cats) and house sit for them any time they’re out of town. It’s an absolute treat for me to spend time with animals again! I’m comfortable helping to train puppies, snuggling seniors, and playing with every age in between. As a medical student, my schedule is generally pretty flexible. I will almost always be available to house sit from at least 5pm-6am. On most days, I can take a break at lunch to run over and check on pets or go for a short walk. Depending on my rotation, I may have entire stretches of 3-4 days off! That may sound like a lot to plan around, but I’d love to work with you to accommodate both our schedules as best as possible! Because I grew up with dogs of all ages and sizes, I’m very comfortable with dogs of different temperaments, care needs, and crating requirements. Cats with high-care needs will likely be out of my comfort zone, but I’m always eager to learn something new!
“Found Derek last min for my fur baby and boy was I lucky! He’s very attentive to my Marley takes him on nice long walks and spends time with him after! I’m so glad I found him being a nurse I work long hours and I can’t come let him out! I recommend anybody letting Derek take care of their fur baby ❤️”

About: We’ve been hugging dogs since we were kids, and we’d love to hug yours! Penny, Ciel, and our family enjoy hosting furry friends - we take care of them and our pups play hard with them! Please note: *We cannot currently accept bookings for unneutered/intact male pups *We host a large, rambunctious group of pups throughout the week - pups who prefer quiet, calm environments may not have an enjoyable experience here, and we will happily recommend sitters who may be a better fit for your family Hosting pups is our full-time job - your pups become part of our family while they’re here! We spend our days with our guests, playing and chatting with them, and can attend to everyone’s needs regularly throughout the day. Our 24/7 dedication to giving your pups the best experience while away from your home makes us a great choice for day care and socialization opportunities! We accept bookings between 7am and 7pm; we will consider bookings outside these hours on a case by case basis, potentially for an additional cost. Our availability for picking up and dropping off is limited but we aim to be as flexible as possible. Reach out with your needs and we’ll work out an arrangement that works best for all of us! Our entire yard is fenced in - there’s room to run full speed! We can adjust feeding schedules as needed to accommodate your dog’s diet. In good weather, pups are free to go inside and outside at their leisure. We don’t require pups to use crates while we’re gone or overnight, but if you prefer your pup be crated at any time, we’re happy to do that and have multiple available. Male pups will wear a belly band for the first 24 hours of their stay, at minimum - this soft, absorbent band fits around their belly and attaches with Velcro on their back. Belly bands reduce marking behavior, especially in unneutered males. You may bring your own, but we can supply them, free of charge. Using belly bands keeps our home calmer, cleaner, and fresher by eliminating marking behavior and reduces anxiety for future pups by giving them less reason to want to mark over the scent of previous pups. We have indoor and outdoor security cameras in many locations that can be helpful to review if any safety situations arise. The safety of all of our pups is very important to us! (They’re also great for catching fun footage!)
“Amazing sitter! I was gone for the longest I’ve ever left my cats and they were so well cared for. I love coming home to happy cats. Lots of pictures and notes provided!”
“Sam is the best! She’s very reliable. Communicates well. My pup is always happy to see her. She is my go-to for all my pet needs. Thanks for another great visit!”

About: Moved from California to Illinois recently! I have 3 dogs back home (my parent’s dogs technically but still my babies 🤣). And with me right now I have 6 cats! (2 are mine, 3 are my boyfriends’, & new kitten addition we rescued!) Back in California, I had one person give me a chance on Rover before I moved & that was so much fun! He was a hyperactive and reactive dog, but was able to take him on a beach trip and go out to lunch in public with zero problem behaviors occurring! Besides Rover, I had many experiences caring for my dogs & cats, my family’s pets, and friends furrbabies! I use to take dogs out to beaches, hikes, and on chill days, just walks around the neighborhoods. I have experience with fear based dogs, hyperactive dogs, puppies, & elders! Currently, I’ve been going to shelters every weekend, spoiling the animals there and learning more about caring for disabled pets! Looking forward to care for lots of furrbabies! *Bonus* I have some experience in farm animal care! I’ve cared for horses, goats, ducks, chickens, and geese. I’m very flexible and open to different needs. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Weekdays I’m unavailable 8:30am to 1:30pm due to work. I’m very flexible on weekdays, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my work schedule. Weekends I’m free all day long! I share the care of my cats at home with my partner, which allows me to be more flexible with caregiving other pets. I like to either have a fun outing or a chill day at home. I love to go on long walks and trials with dogs! For animals that need to be let out for potty, I will take them out as many times requested by parents. I very much love to spoil pets with play, affection, treats, & toys. Any accommodations please reach out (allergies, diet restrictions, behavioral issues, etc.) I’m very flexible & can adjust to any physical and behavioral needs.
About: I have volunteered at the Animal Protective League for many summers, so I have lots of experience with cats/kittens, puppies, and dogs big and small. I have a sweet Shih Tzu-schnauzer named Lexi, and she is 12 years old. I adore working with animals, and have taken care of many furry loved ones. From friends to family, they have trusted and relied on me to take great care of their furry friends! My schedule is flexible to your pet needs. Throughout the school week I find time to spend with your furry friends and mine. On weekends I get up early and have ample amounts of time to check in, or walk your pets when needed! I have a large fenced yard, with my very friendly dog Lexi. She can roam, and use the restroom freely (since I pooper-scoop my yard daily), and she has lots of room to play. If your dog needs to be put in or taken out of a crate, I can do that. My main goal is that the pets are safe, loved, and keep their tails wagging!
About: I've been around animals basically my whole life. My family has always had some sort of pet, and we currently have a full house of 'em. Over the past few years my parents have gone out of town for a week or so over the summer, leaving me to care for our dog, four cats, and fish (low maintenance but still present!) on my own. I have a lot of free time over the summer and an incredibly flexible schedule! Aside from the occasional doctor's appointment and Saturday night dinner show, I'm almost always available! A big thing with me more than anything is spending time with any animals I'm in charge of. I want to make sure that they know I'm someone they can trust and be close to to stave off any loneliness, whether that be through play or just being around. I'm incredibly precise when it comes to directions and medications, so rest assured knowing that proper and healthy food intake is important to me!

About: Hi, I’m Maddie! 🐾 I’ve always loved animals and understand that pets are family. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. Whether it’s going for walks, playing fetch, giving plenty of cuddles, or simply keeping them company, I’ll care for them as if they were my own. I’m reliable, patient, and attentive to each pet’s unique personality and routine. I have been around animals ever since I was a little girl! I love dogs of all sizes and cats as well! I’m a huge animal lover, so I don’t discriminate. 😉 I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all ages and energy levels, and I’m happy to follow any special instructions regarding feeding, medications, exercise, or routines. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! I’m currently a full-time college student. I have class 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I am available those days in the afternoon. As for Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday I’m free! I am willing to travel to the safety of your pets home to keep them comfort! I’m more than happy to play, walk, or snuggle with them! Keeping your pet as comfortable as possible is my biggest priority!
“Sarah is a perfect example of what a pet sitter should be like. She is kind, communicative, cautious, thorough, and genuinely cares about the job she is doing. This is my first time using a pet sitter and with having professional background myself in pet care and doggie daycare and boarding, I was hesitant to hire someone knowing that there are some people who don't take this field of work seriously. Sarah completely dissolved my worries and made me feel safe to rely on her. She went out of her way to make sure she established a relationship with my pets with a meet and greet and made sure she had all of the necessary information before she took care of my pets. It is a huge plus and a huge sign that my animals were their best selves with her. Absolutely will be using her services again!”

“Amy was absolutely incredible with Thor, Arya, and Binx while I was away. She was so sweet, responsive, attentive, and truly loved my babies like they were her own. She even took Thor to the emergency vet for me when something unexpected came up, and I genuinely cannot express how grateful I am for the care and kindness she showed throughout everything. Coming home to happy, loved, well cared for pets meant the world to me. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone without hesitation.”

About: I have had pets my whole life! I have experience with cats, dogs, horses, chickens, fish, frogs, turtles, and small furry critters such as hamsters and rabbits. I Have cared for new born puppies and kittens when the mother was not able and elderly pets that need a little extra love. Pets that are very energetic or relaxed. Pets that are having a hard time medically and need fluids or pain medications. I have cared for wounded animals and healthy ones. I'm available most days during work hours. When your fur baby needs love and care during the day while you are away I can be there for pets, walks, snacks, medications, a simple check in and more. Every animal is it's own self and all need different care. When pet sitting while friends or family are at work or on trips I always make sure the pet has a good long session of play, affection, walk or forms of exercise, clean and full water and food dishes. Check for any accidents that need cleaned up or litter boxes that need tending. Then always be sure to double check the yard and home locks are secure before leaving.
“She was very communicative and gave Clio lots of attention and care. I received regular updates and photos, which made me feel at ease while I was away. Clio was happy and relaxed when I got back. I would definitely have her watch Clio again.”

“This was our first time hiring an outside sitter and Francesca was such a blessing for us to find! Our normal coverage plans change and we were last minute searching for someone to look in on our two younger Maine-Coons, while we were going to be out of town for a holiday week trip. Francesca was pleasantly friendly, easy to communicate with and our large kittens loved her! (The treats she brought didn't hurt the interaction either 😊) It was a great first time experience on Rover and now we know who we will be contacting first the next time!”

“Taylor was able to take care of my fur babies on super short notice during a holiday - I can't thank her enough for her quick responses, flexible availablity, and the overwhelming care she puts into loved fur babies”

“Laura took such good care of our 3 kitties while we were gone on vacation and sent us pictures of them every time she visited them. I would definitely recommend booking with her and I would trust her to watch our kitties again any time. :D”

“Kiri was able to come by with very little notice and help out when my normal sitter unexpectedly couldn’t make it. She stayed longer than asked and was sure to take many pictures and a detailed description on her visit. Will definitely be using her again and would recommend to others.”

Jossalyn took such great care of our kitties, and communicated very well with us throughout our trip. She didn’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, and was very sweet and gentle with our cats. She even convinced our one skittish cat who normally never comes out for cat sitters to come out and eat some tube treat from her! She also sent cute pics of them for each visit. :) I would definitely book with her again!

Shadia maintained timely communication with us which took away a lot of the anxiety of leaving our pets for a week. He took our dog out for a walk twice a day even though that was not a part of our request and provided additional help when we needed it. He also offered to help with other tasks even though we did not ask for it. I am happy we got we got the opportunity to work together and I would gladly work with him again.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
