“EJ was amazing! This was our first time using her, and we were so glad she was located nearby. Planning everything with her was smooth and easy. She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She stayed at our home, took great care of our dog, and our puppy was clearly happy with her. She also left our house spotless. I would definitely use her again. Thank you.”

“Charlie had another great stay with Jessica. She was attentive to him, letting us know his chronic cough was increasing. She managed it well, professionally and patiently, with permission from us to give an extra dose of one of his medications. She communicated with us throughout the stay-”

“Erin was the perfect dog (and house) sitter. We came home to a relaxed and happy senior dog and the house just as we had left it. Erin went above and beyond by bringing in mail and trash can, watering plants and even reached out to see when Riley could go on the lawn after it was fertilized. Erin is professional and responsive. We will definitely be booking with Erin again!”

About: As a certified and insured pet sitter I am qualified to care for a variety of pets. I am a calm and nurturing which helps me to gain animals' trust. I have had a lot of experience with shy or feral cats. As a pet owner of a severely asthmatic cat, I am adept at giving medications, such as pills and inhalers. I am a special education teacher and am off for the summer. I am also available after school and on weekends to do visits or pet sitting. I prefer to care for pets in their own home so that they are more comfortable and less stressed. I can do check-in or longer visits.
About: I’m a graduate student with a bachelors of science in Biology and a concentration in pre-vet, working towards a career in veterinary medicine with years of hands-on experience caring for animals. I’ve worked in a clinical hospital and an animal shelter with both cats and dogs, gaining experience with a wide range of temperaments, ages, and needs. I’ve also taken multiple animal-focused college courses that strengthen my understanding of proper care, behavior, and health. In addition, I’ve provided pet sitting and dog walking for friends, family, and neighbors for several years. I’m comfortable caring for pets of all ages and make sure every animal feels safe, loved, and well cared for. I’m currently working part-time, but I have as much time as I can give for your fur baby! I coach softball so I’m away part of July but other than that my schedule is pretty open. I prioritize pet safety by following routines closely, maintaining clean spaces, and respecting your home. I ensure pets are supervised, secure, and comfortable at all times.
“Jessica house sat for our special needs cat for several days. At one point he needed to go to the vet and she arranged everything with them and implemented a new medicine. We were provided with daily photos and had good communication while overseas. She followed directions provided for her and gave our boy lots of love while we were away!”

“I was nervous as my furry friend has never been away with people he has not known but let me tell you…We (Bingo and myself) had a great feeling when we did the meeting for the first time. Karina put me at ease with pictures throughout his stay and he looked very relaxed and it took my nervousness away.. I will always feel at ease every time he stays!!! She responds quickly when messaged.. Thank you again Karina and Jason.”

About: I have done both walking and house sitting for family and neighbors for five years, and have worked with and am comfortable handling both large and small dogs. I grew up owning dogs, including a shitzu mix, a poodle mix, and a shelter girl of unknown breed. While all but one of the dogs I have owned were under 20 pounds, most of my history in pet sitting has been with has been with dogs in the 30-70 pound range, including labs, huskies, and a pit bull mix as my most frequent clients. I have experience with owning a fear reactive dog, but my comfort with taking care of them will be on a case by case basis. I also have experience with training young dogs for crating, potty training, and leash training I am currently exclusively self employed and have a flexible schedule with my income sources, so I am available most days and times of the week At this time I am only able to provide care in my clients home, I am unable to provide boarding due to limited space in my house I will work with owners to maintain your pets normal schedule, including feeding and walks. I am comfortable crating and using alternate feeders or feeding styles as needed Dogs will never be outside unattended, and will be kept on leash or in fenced in yards unless the owner specifically requests that I do otherwise. Cats will not be taken outside for any reason unless requested by owners. All animals will receive a significant amount of play and/or pet time during each visit, assuming the animal is comfortable with and enjoying it For drop ins, I will provide at least one update per visit including pictures. For continuous house sitting, as my standard I will provide at least three updates per day (morning, mid day, and afternoon/evening) with at least one photo per update. If you would like more or less updates, just let me know and I am fully willing to work with you to get you the amount of contact desired

“Janessa is amazing and so trustworthy!!! She watched our 2 dogs while we were away and we didn’t have to worry at all. She provided just enough updates and we came home to a clean house! Would highly recommend Janessa”

About: I’ve had my own dog, Lily, for 12 years—she’s been with me since she was just 2 months old. Caring for her throughout every stage of life has given me hands on experience with everything from puppy training to adult dog care. I genuinely love dogs and feel comfortable with their different needs and personalities. In addition to caring for my own dog, I’ve also dog sat for several families in my neighborhood. I’m now looking to continue dog sitting over the summer before starting my career as a Physician Assistant in the fall. I’m excited to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care for every dog I look after. This summer I am only working in the morning on Saturdays and afternoon on Sundays, making my schedule free and flexible for your pet’s needs! I am expected to start my full time job in September, but I am happy to continue dog sitting for you when time allows : ) I follow each owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walking routines, crate use, and any special needs or medications. I understand that every dog is different and has individualized needs, and I am happy to help them in whatever way I can. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and routines. I also provide regular updates and photos, so owners feel confident their pet is safe and happy while they’re away.
“Kayla did a wonderful job taking care of our dog and our home while we were away. She was very responsive to my inquiries both before our booking and while we were away. We will definitely contact her for future needs.”

“Brianna is a star! After moving Zora from the only home she had ever known less than a year ago, I was very unhappy about leaving her for a whole month, but I needed have worried. Zora and Brianna quickly formed an enduring bond and did SO well together. It was infinitely reassuring to receive regular texts, photos and videos of their days together. Brianna also took amazing care of my home and my plants. When I got home, everything was immaculate. Zora had obviously been content, well cared for and exercised during my absence. Definite five stars!! Thanks, Brianna!”

“Julissa stayed in my home for 6 days caring for my two dogs. She was promt and responsive and my dogs were happy and healthy when I arrived home. She also left the house in perfect condition. I would not hesitate to hire her again!”

About: My dad taught me at a young age how to care for, and respect all animals. I have turned this into a life long love for all animals, both domestic and wild. I am a vet assistant, and currently studying to be a certified vet tech. For the last two years I have worked at the local animal shelter, and for the last year, at a dog daycare as well. I have volunteered at Dakin for the best part of the last 15 years. This has included transportation of animals, dog walking, animal socialization, and the kitten ICU. I am currently working part time, so I will have plenty of time for your furry family members. I am available during the week, on weekends, and holidays. Whether your dog likes the dog park, or playing in the backyard, we can play using their favorite toys. If they are more of a couch potato, I can accommodate them as well. If you have kitties that need company, we can play in the house, or go out for a stroller ride. I have a fenced in backyard for the dogs to play in. In the summer, a pool and water sprinkler will be available. I am a vet assistant, so I have first aid training for both dogs and cats. My house is air conditioned, perfect for relaxing on a summer day.
“Julie was amazingly flexible, as our schedule was unknown, and was there when we needed her. More importantly, she was good with Ricky, took him out for walks as well as for his sanitary needs, and kept us regularly informed, with pictures. If we are in the area again we will seek her to assist us, and Ricky, again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Southwick
As soon as we meet EJ, we knew we had made the right choice for a pet sitter for our pups. She was great with them from the start and asked us all of the appropriate "get to know them " questions. Both of our dogs (who have separation anxiety) immediately took to EJ because of her calm, soothing and friendly nature. Knowing they were in great hands allowed us to relax and really enjoy our night. We would highly recommend EJ and will definitely reach out to her when we next need a dog sitter!

Erin was exceptional. She took excellent care of our 2 dogs while we were away on a two-week trip, sending daily updates and pictures. It is always hard to leave our babies behind, but Erin made us feel so comfortable knowing that they were safe, healthy, and happy. Her communication and friendly nature easily make her one of the best dogsitters we’ve ever had. As a bonus, she helped keep our plants alive and took excellent care of our home. Highly recommend and just hope she’s available the next time we go on a trip!

FAQs for House Sitting - Southwick
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Southwick on Rover is $41.64 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,231 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Southwick. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Southwick walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Southwick maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Southwick choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Southwick. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
