“We can’t say enough good things here. We had a really bad boarding experience and needed to do something different. We were a little hesitant with having someone in our home but Blythe was awesome. We have a large dog who is pretty needy and a little old man. She took pics, gave us updates and did everything we asked and our home looked the exact way we left it. Would highly recommend!”

“Anna was amazing!! She sent us photos and updates every day and cared for Cleo as if she were her own dog. She was incredibly attentive, super clean, and even left our apartment looking better than when she arrived. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter.”

“Lynette was responsible, reliable, and so sweet to our pups. She made sure they had food and plenty of attention. She’s sent great photos and we would absolutely trust her with our dogs again!”

“This was not only my first time using a pet sitter, but a sitter that doesn’t know my two boys. We have always been spoiled having family watch my two, but not so much anymore. My two boys are a pain in many ways and Elba was absolutely wonderful with them! She stayed an evening with them and gave them all the attention in the world and took them on a car ride! Elba is such a lovely person who has great advice on pets too! I am definitely sticking with Elba as my primary sitter!”

“We really appreciated the periodic updates as we were in New Zealand. Good to know your pup is being taken well care of being so far away. Would definitely use her services again.”

“This was my first time using Rover and leaving my fur babies with someone besides family , so naturally I was very nervous. She was very reassuring and made me feel comfortable. Stephanie did a great job. She was great with giving updates and taking care of my two fur babies overnight.”

“Heidi was amazing. She was very accommodating in terms of finding a time for a meet and greet. When my son decided he wanted to entertain her and have her attention as I showed her around, she was a great sport. She was super non-judgmental about the state of our house, and put me at ease. She was great with our pets while we were gone, and sent adorable photos. When we got home, I found that she had washed all of the odd dishes we hadn’t had a chance to wash before we left. She also shoveled the walkway! I will absolutely be reaching out to her again, next time we go on vacation.”

“Michelle did a great job! Ollie was well taken care of. She stayed at our house and left everything like she found it. I will definitely have her care for Ollie in the future.”

“I would 100% recommended Teri. She went above and beyond caring for my dogs while I was out of town. I was gone for a long time and left dogs home so they wouldn’t get to depressed being I never left them ever before and they are older too. For the whole time I was gone, (8 days) Teri stopped over to walk dogs at least 4 times a day. She doesn’t live too close to me either, but she said she can handle the job. I was nervous at first but the first night I was gone, Teri sent a message with pics of my dogs, which put me at ease knowing they were cared for. I came home to my dogs and was so impressed how they were happy and healthy and in great spirits. Leaving the dogs home and having Teri check on them was the best decision I’ve made. I would recommend Teri to anyone. If your dog never was away from you like I was with mine, then let them stay home and trust Teri to home sit them. My dogs are same as I left them, which I wanted. Everyone has their own reasons for dog watching or boarding but I have one dog that don’t walk to well and he is just as great as I left him with no extra stress or infections while I was gone. When he gets scared or stressed, he can get red ears or won’t eat or something, but I never had to worry. Teri updated me everyday with pics and if I ever need someone to care for my pets again, I know exactly who I am asking. Teri did a fantastic job and I can’t say enough how happy I was with her service. Thanks Teri as you really cared for my dogs as if they were your own. You did a great job and I will definitely refer you to as your looking. Stop stressing about who to have watch your pets and take my word for it and have Teri watch them. She did a amazing job.”

“Excellent communication from the start. Came for a greet and meet and easy to be with and obvious knew dogs well. Ended up a friend of mine knows Alissa so a double excellent reference. She communicated with me constantly throughout the stay. My dog is a senior and she did well with him and when I returned he kept roaming into where she was staying in my place. Would have back again as she is available.”

“Keisha was amazing! She helped us out when another sitter cancelled. She took amazing care of our 2 dogs while we were away! She was very responsive, sent lots of pictures, and kept us posted the whole weekend! She truly understood and embraced my dog’s personalities! I would highly recommend her and will be using her again in the future!”
“Emily was awesome! She provided great updates throughout our trip and took excellent care of our four pets and our home. It was clear she treated them like they were her own, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. I would highly recommend Emily and would gladly work with her again in the future.”

“Reilly was fantastic! She sent me multiple updates throughout her stay which was really nice. Kuzco seemed to like her a lot and she took great care of my little pup! He is only 10 weeks old so he can be a little ball of energy. Hoping I can book her in the future when I need a sitter!”

“Laurie was amazing with our senior citizen dog Jada. She is timid and doesn’t bond easily, but Laurie became a member of the family. Our Great Dane normally only talks to a very few people that she knows well. Jada really like Laurie because she spoke to her with a “woo-woo”. Laurie was also the perfect house guest, leaving a clean and tidy house when she left. We are definitely planning to re-book.”

“Alex did a great job with Tucker. She bonded with him immediately, he was feed, walked and pampered. Communication was excellent, we got lots of photos and updates. We will definitely use Alex again”

“Kelly was fantastic. Was happy to stay at my house with my two dogs and my bird the week of Christmas and take care of them all and my house. I would highly recommend her for house sitting or pet sitting.”
“Carolina was amazing and very attentive to our cat’s needs. She provided daily updates and plenty of photos/videos. She took great care of him and will definitely book her in the future!”

“Elizabeth did the most fantastic job with our dog Annie. She was always fast to respond and sent multiple updates with pictures! Annie can be reactive and has grudges against many of our neighbors dogs so leaving her with someone new for neighborhood walks can be daunting. I felt completely confident in Elizabeth after one walk with her and Annie. We will absolutely be reaching back out to Elizabeth the next time we are looking for a rover! Thank you so much for the best first rover experience.”

“Rebecca was phenomenal with my little critters! Excellent communication throughout the week and she was able to adjust last minute to needing to give my dog extra TLC and medication. I highly recommend her for your pet-sitting needs!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Milwaukee
Blythe always takes such good care of our dog and two cats. They are all calm when we get home (well, as calm as pets are when you return from being away), and her updates each day let us know what’s gone on while also letting us focus on our travels. Can’t recommend her enough.

Wow! Definitely recommend River. She worked with us over the course of a few home visits to get our nervous, anxious dog acclimated to her. Then we had her dog sit in our house for 8 days. They became best of friends. She kept the house in tip-top shape and even left little gifts for my human children. Will definitely have her back!

I had a last minute cancellation frim a friend that was supposed to take care of my dog when I was going on vacation. I found Kelsey on Rover. We set up a meet and greet quickly. She came over and met my dog Bailey. We agreed they were a good fit. She took excellent care of him . She went above and beyond sending me pictures and videos of Bailey. This was the first time I had left him. She made sure I was comfortable. Highly recommend!

Cannot recommend Cassandra & Tyler enough! They have done two in-house sits for me, and they took such incredible care of my dogs both time. Excellent communication, really thoughtful support for a couple of issues that came up and coming back to two very happy boys. These were both longer sits (14 days and 7 days) and the level of communication, professionalism and just care for the boys never dwindled, and that meant the world for me actually getting to enjoy my time away from them. Highly recommend these two if you are in need of help with your furbabies!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Milwaukee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Milwaukee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Milwaukee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
