“I’m so grateful for Pamela & Paul. They make every effort to do what is best for my dog (exercise, food, social) and let me know if there’s a concern. My dog is so very happy when she sees we have arrived at their house. She can’t wait to go inside.”

“Matt is fantastic. My dog Ru loves going to his house so much that she sprints to his front door and will not look back for me at all. She has a great time with him and when I pick her up she is happy and tired in the best way. He clearly has a great understanding of dogs and is very professional and communicative. I feel completely confident leaving my girl there and I know she has the absolute best care.”

“Susan is amazing and made our anxiety-inducing first drop off at doggie day care way easier! Easy communication and planning and she and her dog made mine feel right at home. Loved how many updates and pictures she sent us too! Our dog seemed happy and tired afterwards.”

“Ashli has been a blessing in disguise for us! We’re so glad to have found her on Rover! Our little dog Boba loooooooves playing with Ashli’s puppies Rocky and Fozzy. We had the best meet and greet experience we’ve had so far on Rover. Ashli and her puppers spent plenty of time with us and she even went to the extent of showing us her home and talked through how Boba would be situated. Ashli has been amazing at sending updates while we’re away and genuinely cares for Boba’s wellbeing. We’ve struck gold with finding friends for Boba and us and will continue to seek her help and services as long as possible! Thank you Ashli!!”

“Katie did an amazing job with our puppy Bear! She made him feel so welcome and safe and her sweet Louie is an angel - wore bear out! Katie was so easy to work with and gets an A++ for communication! Bear will definitely go back to Katie Camp!”

“I can’t say enough great things about Nadia! She took such amazing care of my dog, Mojo, during his first stay that it completely put my mind at ease. From the moment we met her, it was clear how much she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after. Mojo had such a great experience that what started as a one time stay has now turned into a regular weekly visit. He gets so excited every time we arrive he truly loves Nadia, and that says everything. It’s such a relief knowing he’s not just being watched, but is actually happy, comfortable, and well cared for. Nadia is reliable, kind, and clearly passionate about what she does. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter!”

“Zadie enjoyed her day stay at Andreea's today. The shady back yard was a perfect exercise spot in this hot, muggy Richmond weather. Andreea let me know via message that Zadie wasn't so interested in her food, which she made up for when she returned home! Guess she was having too much fun interacting with Andreea's two pups to think about eating. Smooth booking, arrival and departure.”

“Awesome. My pup loves Amy more than me I feel like. She always comes back happy and clean even after playing all day with the other dogs. Also very flexible with my crazy schedule with pick up and drop off times. Choose Amy!!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs my entire life, growing up in a home with multiple pups of all sizes. From feeding and bathing to long walks and playtime, I’ve always been hands-on in making sure they’re happy and well cared for. In addition to dogs, I’ve also raised birds, turtles, and fish, so I’m comfortable caring for a variety of animals. I understand that every pet has its own personality and needs, and I always aim to make them feel safe, loved, and at home. I currently work from home so I’m able to provide physical comfort and stimulation via petting and playing with toys. We also have a dog park where I can take your pet for off leash running around and fetching. I have experience providing oral medicine for dogs. I allow dogs on furniture and free roaming in the house, but if you have a crate and wish to bring it just let me know. Please provide any instructions on feeding schedule or items.
“Always satisfied with Srujana’s care and enthusiasm when looking after Tenor. The pup always comes back happy, and most importantly, tuckered you after playing with Rex all day.”

“We are very appreciative of Amanda and her husband for taking great care of our boys! Amanda is very communicative, caring and flexible which has been critical for our dog care needs. Can’t wait for our pups’ next stay!”

“Ethel is a great sitter! She was easy and quick to communicate with. Her home is welcoming and well set up for dogs to have plenty of space to play! We look forward to having our dog stay with her again soon.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Short Pump
I recently hired Jay for my two pups Buddy & Teddy, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Jay was incredibly thoughtful and caring, taking the time to understand their needs and personalities. B & T were clearly delighted to have him around, and it was heartwarming to see them play and bond with him. Communication was a breeze, as Jay was easy to coordinate with and provided regular updates on their activities, which put my mind at ease while I was away. I highly recommend Jay for anyone looking for a reliable and attentive dog sitter!
Great experience! As a first time dog mom and my first time using the Rover app, I was a little nervous, but she made everything so easy. She communicated throughout the stay, sent lots of photos and videos, respected all my care instructions for Willow, and Willow clearly had a great time. Thank you!

Vannessa is very reliable and sweet! My puppy loves her. She sends pics/vids throughout the day. Its a bonus that she lives 5mins from me. Grateful to have found her as I wasn’t expecting to get Ace so soon. So thank you very much for all you do, it is more than appreciated!

Sarah was great with our golden retriever puppy. Made him comfortable and the puppy become friends with her kitty. I got very prompt replies to my request and Sarah was able to take our puppy at the last minute. The overall experience was excellent and our puppy was happy being with Sarah.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Short Pump commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
