About: I have years of pet sitting experience, care for my own dogs, and work at Mountain Dog Spa, gaining hands-on experience with all types of pets. I currently work full time in Cashiers, NC but am transitioning to part time. I can provide midday drop-ins and stay with pets when available. I provide care only in the client’s home, including overnight stays and daytime care, keeping pets comfortable, safe, and relaxed in their familiar environment always.
“Lillie was great with the dogs! She was reliable and communicative for our overnight booking. She was flexible when my plans changed and even tidied up the house! I left her detailed instructions which she followed seamlessly and she sent plenty of happy and cuddly dog pictures. She has quickly become my go-to sitter that I trust.”

About: I’ve been around all kinds of animals since I was a young child, but started professionally working in the animal industry as young as 14. I worked in an animal rescue facility, caring for the felines. Since then I have worked in a pet grooming salon, and still currently do. I have owned my own pets 100% of my life and currently have three fluffy friends of my own. I have also taken care of my current employers’ pets while they have been out of town on multiple occasions. I’m currently employed full-time, Tuesday thru Saturday 9-5pm. I am available to sit or walk pups Saturdays after 7pm, Sundays anytime, and Mondays anytime. I can also do various times during the week. I can do overnights throughout the week (location depending) and morning walks before work, again, location depending. I will gladly do whatever your pet is used to, and keep them as close to their routine as possible without having you home! I am also well versed in giving medications, so if that’s something your pet needs I’m more than able to oblige.
“Leandra was an amazing sitter for our many dogs! We had lots of instructions and she followed them perfectly. She took photos and videos, and she communicated with me very well! I’d be happy to book her again.”

“Pamela is an outstanding dog sitter, and a lovely lady. She made sure that our dog, Pearl was as happy as can be all weekend. She took her on many walks and had lots of play time. I loved receiving all the pictures and updates. We look forward to using her many times in the future🐾”

“This was the first time we had left Pip, our 12 year cat with anyone. We were nervous about how he would do having someone in his house. Could not have gone better. Dixie was great! Always sending updates, pictures and videos. Very obvious Pip was comfortable with her and glad to be in his own home. Will definitely schedule with Dixie again.”

“I can’t give enough positive feedback for Ginger. She did an amazing job of pet sitting for my two doggie fur babies. Ginger stayed in touch each day with pictures (hers are much better than ones I take!) and info on how things were going. My two fell in love with her. I highly recommend Ginger if you are seeking a compassionate pet sitter who treats your pets as well and maybe better than we do. And, she treats your home with special care, too.”

“Johnnie was great. This was my first time having Johnnie keep Rocky, but I’ll definitely use again. She took great care of him and kept me posted on how things were going through messages and photos.”

“Sketcher did great housesitting our anxious 2 yr old dog and 11 yr old indoor cat. She was good at communicating promptly during booking and during the stay. We came home to happy pets and everything was as expected.”

“Chloe did an amazing job with 5+ animals and our home! Her communication was consistent and everyone was happy and settled when we returned home! Will definitely try to get Chloe whenever we can!”

About: Rescuing dogs — especially puppies — is the most rewarding feeling in life. The most important thing with our furry friends is consistency. If you're stricter with your dog, you need a sitter who'll uphold those rules, not let them slide. I've taken care of dogs and cats for friends and family for years, and I've learned that it's not about what I want — it's about honoring what the owner has built with their pet. I work with the public in my day job, so patience is second nature to me. Pets are no different. They need someone who can read their energy, stay calm, and meet them where they're at. I also love running and playing with animals. Exercise is huge — but I get that a walk isn't always about distance. Sometimes they need to run. Sometimes they need to stop and smell everything. I match their pace, not mine. I don't know if anything really sets me apart from other sitters. I just genuinely want to be there for the furry family member. My availability in inconsistent due to Firefighting but I will always respond as soon as I'm able too. I understand due to my schedule I won't the best sitter for if you need someone daily, but if you need someone to drop-in, walk your dog, or just need a night out, feel free to leave a message. Currently working for a fire department, schedule can be inconsistent. Great for drop in play times and walks. Days off from fire department can be great for unexpected care. Currently unable to have pets in home due to renting rules. Will make sure to confirm and follow all rules with you before accepting the job.

“Stacie is fantastic! She house sat our two young large energetic dogs with ease. She is a good communicator, responding quickly and also sending updates and photos. I recommend Stacie with no reservation and will be reaching out to her for all my future house-sitting needs.”

“Jesse did an amazing job at caring for our lab. He let us know when she began having a health issue and proactively addressed it so it didn’t get out of hand. We felt confident that our pet and home would be well cared for during our vacation. Thank you Jesse!”

“We are so happy to have found Diane! We were very comfortable trusting her with our doggies care. She not only took great care of our dogs but also our place. We appreciate the frequent updates and pictures she sent. We highly recommend Diane”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sapphire
What a great pet sitter for our 2 pups! Grey always gave updates & pics. He is quite witty in his communication about the pups which makes me laugh and it’s so on point! We were out of the country for 2 weeks, so it was the longest we’d ever been away from Emma & Harley. They seemed happy and well cared for. Don’t hesitate to book Grey as he’s the best!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sapphire walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sapphire maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sapphire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sapphire. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
