About: I had an English Setter Callie, and loved her as if she were my daughter. After she passed, it was not the same and I really missed her and the unconditional love and happiness she brought into my life. The past two years I've been house sitting for several people all over the United States, which began with an uber driver asking me if I'd look after his Belgian Malinois Berta while he went on a cruise. The experience was great and I realized how much I miss being around animals. I have done dozens of house sits since then, met amazing pets from dogs, cats, lizards, and frogs. I've met some great people in that time as well who I'd help in a heartbeat again should the need arise. On March 2, 2026 I found a chihuahua, Sweetie abandoned walking towards the road while I was house sitting for a customer. I saved her, she wasn't microchipped, no collar, nobody claimed her despite my listings. She is family now and an unbelievable gift in my life. She is 4 years old, very friendly with people, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Shes a total sweetheart and I bring her with me on sits, and have been impressed with how different pets interact with her and how they motivate and teach each other little things. I work remotely in financial services as a life insurance, mortgage protection broker. Plenty of schedule flexibility, I schedule all my own clients and appointments. I'm very health conscious and enjoy getting outside hiking, walking trails, or going to the gym to stay fit. Treat pets and homes as if they're your own. Leave things as found or better than when you arrived. I like to keep owners updated consistently usually every 2 or 3 days, with photos and an occasional video of something funny if you catch pets in the act.

About: I have experience caring for dogs, fish, chickens, ducks, geese, and other small animals, as well as maintaining gardens, plants, and outdoor spaces. My background as a Life Planning Coordinator has strengthened my attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to follow instructions carefully. I am especially patient with senior pets who may need extra attention, slower walks, medication reminders, or a consistent routine. I am also comfortable caring for shy, anxious, or newly adopted pets who benefit from a calm presence and gentle reassurance. As an avid gardener and nature lover, I can care for houseplants, vegetable gardens, herbs, and outdoor watering schedules. Homeowners appreciate that I treat their homes with respect, keeping them clean, secure, and well-maintained. I provide regular updates, photos, and prompt communication so pet parents can enjoy their time away with peace of mind. My goal is simple: to care for your pets and home as if they were my own, leaving everything happy, healthy, and well cared for when you return. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work independently and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to provide consistent attention, companionship, feeding, walks, playtime, and home care throughout the day. I typically begin my mornings with outdoor activities, gardening, or walking, making it easy to incorporate pet walks, feeding schedules, and exercise routines. Throughout the day, I am attentive to each pet's individual needs, whether that means companionship for a social pet, quiet reassurance for a senior pet, or maintaining established routines to reduce stress while their family is away. Because I value structure and communication, I carefully follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, exercise requirements, and household preferences. I also provide regular updates and photos so pet parents can relax knowing their pets and home are receiving attentive care. Whether caring for pets during a house sit, drop-in visit, or walk, my goal is to create a calm, safe, and loving environment that keeps pets comfortable and happy while maintaining the routines they know and trust. When caring for pets in a client's home, my priority is maintaining the routines, environment, and level of care they are accustomed to. I understand that pets feel most comfortable when their daily schedule remains consistent, so I carefully follow feeding instructions, exercise routines, medication schedules, and household guidelines. I take time to get to know each pet's personality, preferences, and comfort level. Whether they enjoy long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply sticking to a familiar routine, I adapt my care to meet their individual needs. Safety is extremely important to me. I ensure doors, gates, and windows are secure, monitor pets during outdoor activities, and remain attentive to any changes in behavior, appetite, or well-being. If concerns arise, I communicate promptly with the pet owner and follow any emergency instructions provided. I also respect and care for my clients' homes as if they were my own. I keep living areas tidy, bring in mail or packages if requested, water plants, and maintain a clean, peaceful environment. Throughout the stay, I provide regular updates and photos so pet parents can travel with confidence, knowing their pets and home are in caring, reliable hands.

Jorie has been my go to babysitter without fail every single time I travel, which is quite frequently. I don’t trust a lot of people with Vicki but she loves Jorie (likely more than she loves me). She’s always a text away and super responsive. Since moving to Chicago, she’s been an enormous source of support.

About: I am passionate about caring for your pup. If you’re like me, your fur baby is just part of the family. Their care is just as important to you as any other person. I have been consistently dog-sitting about once a month for about 10 years now. Dogs provide a healing, restorative presence and I would love the opportunity to get to know you and for pup! Availability: I am available Monday-Sunday I can also do overnights at your home any day of the week, if needed. I am currently working from home and my husband takes care of our children at home so we have flexibility to be available to you I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs. I love taking walks, I have worked with and fostered puppies, middle aged dogs, and have walked two of my dogs to the rainbow bridge. Both required lots of additional care.

About: I have always had a dog. But now I don't. I showed poms and German Shepherds. Our 28 year old son lives with us and he was our handler. I miss having a dog but just can't have one right now. My husband and I are retired. I consider dogs to be part of the family and not pets. So like children I only want one or 2 at a time so I can provide my full attention. I will be responsible and reliable with your baby. They will never be left alone since there will be someone here at all times. I am very good at puppy training ( puppy boot camp) and I am patient Don't be surprised if your baby is better behaved after spending time with our family.

Katie took such great care of our standard poodle, Auggie! She was willing to walk him a couple times and work for him to get comfortable with her before we left. He ate everyday, which I was worried about because he can go on hunger strikes if unhappy. Katie came over once after we got home and Auggie was so thrilled to see her again! I could tell he really liked her. She also left our house very clean. I definately recommend Katie for house sitting.

Kacie is amazing! By far the best dog-sitter I have ever had. This is actually my third time having her watch my dogs, before she officially came onto the Rover app. My dogs love her, and we could tell when they see her they get so excited as she is family to them. I know that she genuinely cares about dogs, and she treats your babies as if they were her own. She sent multiple pictures every day, videos of her playing with our dogs, pictures of our dogs taking naps, cuddling with her, and I could always tell they were happy! She spent a lot of time with them at our house, including over-night stays, for 10 nights in a row! We never had to worry about our dogs being alone for long hours. She kept the house clean and accommodated all of our requests. I will always use Kacie as my dog-sitter because it's the best feeling to know that our dogs can still be happy while we are away on vacation.

About: Dogs aren’t just pets to me… they’re family. I’ve been caring for dogs for 10 plus years, and I truly love getting to know each pup’s personality, quirks, and favorite belly rub spots. Whether your dog is playful and energetic or more of a cuddle-on-the-couch type, I make sure they feel safe, loved, and right at home. I have an open and flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention and care throughout the day. I’m available for weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and I can accommodate last-minute bookings when needed. Your dog won’t be left alone for long periods and will get lots of supervision, playtime, and companionship. 🐾 I take time to learn each dog’s routine, behavior, and any special needs so I can care for them the way you do. Whether that means sticking to specific feeding schedules, administering medication, or giving them space when they need quiet time, I follow your instructions closely. If I’m in a client’s home, I’m respectful of your space and keep your pet’s routine as normal as possible to reduce stress. I monitor for any changes in behavior, appetite, or energy and will contact you right away if anything seems off. I believe trust is built through communication, consistency, and genuine love for animals and I treat every pet like they’re my own family member. 🐾❤️

FAQs for House Sitting - Sandy Valley

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 553 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sandy Valley. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sandy Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sandy Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sandy Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sandy Valley. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
