It was our first vacation in a long time, and our usual sitter wasn’t available for the week, so this was our first time having Valeria care for our pups. We came home to our house looking like we had never left. More importantly, our pups weren’t stressed and clearly felt comfortable with Valeria, like she was an extension of our family. She sent us multiple pictures every day and kept us updated throughout the entire trip, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worrying about things back home. If you need someone to care for your pups, especially for an extended stay, do not hesitate to book Valeria. She is amazing, dependable, and trustworthy.

Nicky is so loving to the pets. This time there was a mistake/misunderstanding about the timing and Nicky handled it kindly and professionally, and made sure to reassure me and apologize profusely. I will hire her again in the future.

About: I had an English Setter Callie, and loved her as if she were my daughter. After she passed, it was not the same and I really missed her and the unconditional love and happiness she brought into my life. The past two years I've been house sitting for several people all over the United States, which began with an uber driver asking me if I'd look after his Belgian Malinois Berta while he went on a cruise. The experience was great and I realized how much I miss being around animals. I have done dozens of house sits since then, met amazing pets from dogs, cats, lizards, and frogs. I've met some great people in that time as well who I'd help in a heartbeat again should the need arise. On March 2, 2026 I found a chihuahua, Sweetie abandoned walking towards the road while I was house sitting for a customer. I saved her, she wasn't microchipped, no collar, nobody claimed her despite my listings. She is family now and an unbelievable gift in my life. She is 4 years old, very friendly with people, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Shes a total sweetheart and I bring her with me on sits, and have been impressed with how different pets interact with her and how they motivate and teach each other little things. I work remotely in financial services as a life insurance, mortgage protection broker. Plenty of schedule flexibility, I schedule all my own clients and appointments. I'm very health conscious and enjoy getting outside hiking, walking trails, or going to the gym to stay fit. Treat pets and homes as if they're your own. Leave things as found or better than when you arrived. I like to keep owners updated consistently usually every 2 or 3 days, with photos and an occasional video of something funny if you catch pets in the act.

I was very pleased with Erin. She stayed at my house with my two dogs. (Both have separation anxiety.) . She sent pictures everyday and responded quickly to any texts. I had a flight cancel, so I was delayed getting home, but Erin graciously stayed until I could get home. When I returned my dogs were happy and calm. I would definately use Erin again to watch my two fur babies.

We have booked Jorie twice to dog/cat/house sit while we’re out of town. For 1 and 2 week long trips. Highly recommend her. Our pets love her and the dog doesn’t like anyone but us, but Jorie won her over easily. It’s also important to trust someone with your home and Jorie leaves our home in perfect condition. We can go on vacation with peace of mind knowing she’s there to watch over our babies.

About: I’ve loved and cared for animals my entire life. I grew up on a farm, so caring for animals—and yes, even scooping poop! —has always been a normal part of life for me. Since moving to Las Vegas in 2002, I’ve provided pet sitting and dog walking for friends, family, and others throughout the years, and I’m often the person people trust with their pets when they leave town. My experience ranges from helping care for and wean young puppies to providing patient, compassionate care for senior pets as they reach the later stages of life. I’m comfortable with dogs, cats, birds, and other animals, and I understand that every pet has its own personality, routine, and needs. I’ve completed professional pet-sitting and dog-walking certification courses, taken pet CPR training, worked with the Red Cross, volunteered with animal shelters, and have experience with animal photography. I’m also comfortable following detailed feeding routines, administering medications according to your instructions, cleaning litter boxes, handling pet messes, and providing the everyday care that keeps pets comfortable and happy. My professional background in leadership, customer service, marketing, business development, and brand development has made me extremely organized, dependable, and detail oriented. If I arrive exactly on time, I consider myself late—I believe in being early and prepared. Most importantly, I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own. I communicate often, provide photos and updates, document important information, and pay attention to the little things. I want you to feel confident that while you’re away, your pet is receiving loving care, and your home is being treated with respect. Pet care is my full-time job and a priority in my daily routine. I’m an early riser, usually starting my day around 6:00 a.m., and I have flexibility throughout the day for walks, drop-in visits, pet sitting, and other care needs. I’m available seven days a week and am willing to work weekends and holidays. I also understand that plans can change and emergencies happen, so I do my best to be flexible and work with my clients whenever possible. Because this is my full-time focus, I can dedicate the time and attention your pets deserve while keeping their normal routines as consistent as possible. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I provide care in your home, where your pets can stay in the familiar environment they know and feel most comfortable in. I do not board pets in my own home. Whether I’m providing an overnight stay, drop-in visit, dog walk, cat or bird care, I carefully follow your instructions for feeding, medications, exercise, routines, and any special needs. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality and never force an interaction with an animal that needs extra time to feel comfortable. I also treat your home with the same respect I would expect someone to show mine. I’m mindful of doors, gates, leashes, keys, security instructions, and keeping your home secure while you’re away. I provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing how your pet is doing. When needed, I can also provide pet transportation to veterinary or grooming appointments. From walks and playtime to litter boxes, feeding, medication, and the less glamorous cleanups, I’m here to make sure your pets are safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and have experience caring for both cats and dogs. I currently have a happy, healthy kitten and have also pet and house sat for friends, including extended stays. I understand how important routines, patience, and lots of love are, and I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own. Caring for pets is something I truly enjoy, and it fits naturally into my daily routine. Since I work part-time, I have the flexibility to accommodate different schedules and provide dependable care throughout the day. Whether it’s a quick check-in, a walk, playtime, or extra cuddles, I’m committed to making sure your pet receives the attention, consistency, and love they deserve while you’re away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect both their home and their pet’s routine. I follow feeding schedules, walks, playtime, litter box or potty needs, and any special instructions to help pets feel comfortable and secure. My goal is to provide reliable, loving care so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

About: I have always had a dog. But now I don't. I showed poms and German Shepherds. Our 28 year old son lives with us and he was our handler. I miss having a dog but just can't have one right now. My husband and I are retired. I consider dogs to be part of the family and not pets. So like children I only want one or 2 at a time so I can provide my full attention. I will be responsible and reliable with your baby. They will never be left alone since there will be someone here at all times. I am very good at puppy training ( puppy boot camp) and I am patient Don't be surprised if your baby is better behaved after spending time with our family.

We had a very smooth and pleasant time working with Maranda! We met with her prior to her stay with our dog Sadie and she was very thoughtful and helpful and asked questions we hadn't even thought of. During the stay she was in contact with us with pictures and updates that we greatly appreciated! Sadie was able to get out of the house a lot and experience things she normally wouldn't, which we think was really good for her. Not only was she watching our dog but she made sure our house was looked after and did a great job. Would definitely recommend!

FAQs for House Sitting - Roach

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 705 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Roach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Roach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Roach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Roach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Roach. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
