“I reached out to Hailee the night before leaving for a trip because I found out the hotel wasn’t pet friendly. She was able to spend the weekend with my dog, and I appreciate her being available so last minute. She is a life saver!!!”

“Alyssa was absolutely amazing beyond expectations. She cared for our 2 pups and our cat. Great communication and true care for our babies. Would highly recommend and when needed Will definitely ask for help again. A+++”

“Stephanie was amazing with my girls. She took care of them. Sent a ton of pictures and went above and beyond with their care. I highly recommend using Stephanie for your fur babies.”

“I highly recommend Melissa as a dog sitter! She was punctual, communicated regularly with updates and photos, and left my house tidy. Melissa even went above and beyond by washing out the dog bowls and taking out the trash. I felt completely at ease knowing my Zara was in such great hands. Thank you, Melissa!”

“Deb was truly a blessing! Thank you for taking care or our little Logan and our home. We are so grateful for her and truly were able to be at ease knowing that Logan was in great hands.”

“Heaven has been truly a blessing for both me and Zeus. Very accommodating to fit my schedule. If you are ever in need of her services, you can not go wrong!”

“Wow amazing! Amazing communication and even came by for a meet and greet with such short notice. One of our pups had some tummy troubles and she kept us updated the entire time and even made a vet visit on our behalf. The whole process she made a breeze. We will for sure be using again. She loves dogs.. it radiates off her!! Our boys seemed so so happy and we felt comfortable having her stay in our home.”

“I have never left my dog with anyone other than family or friends so I was nervous using rover for my first time. I had a friend cancel for watching my dog Saint a DAY before a trip I had planned. I was freaking out and didn’t know what to do. I found Kierra and rover and gave it a shot. She accepted my booking the day before I left and I couldn’t be more thankful. Kierra exceeded my expectations x 100! My dog Saint loves her and when I came home he was happy and well taken care of. Kierra checked in with me and sent me photos during my time away which made me feel sooooo much better. I would 100% recommend her to anyone, and will be using her services anytime I go out of town again and can’t take my baby!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs in my household since I was young, with early memories of my family taking in stray dogs and sheltering them. I currently have two dogs myself, and have lived with cats in a shared household previously. Friends and family have relied on me to watch their pets when they are unable to, and in taking on this responsibility, I make sure to walk, feed, bathe, and play with them so they are well cared for. I currently work a remote job, which gives me flexibility throughout the day to check in on pets during the weekdays. Moreover, I personally feel more motivated to go outside and exercise when I have a pet with me. It promotes a healthier routine for me, so it's mutually beneficial for us both! Because I have two dogs, I can pack extra necessities that may be needed in order to properly care for your pet. This can include fun toys to play and give your dog exercise with, pet cleaning supplies, extra poop bags for walks, etc.
“Blaize is fantastic and Dottie LOVED her!!! From the first time we met, we could tell she is genuine and reliable and just a really great person with a great sense of humor - which made the biggest difference with our goofy bull terrier. She is prompt, flexible, friendly, thoughtful, has excellent communication skills, quick to respond, sends tons of funny pics, was able to give meds, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her or give a referral. We will absolutely be having her stay with Dottie (aka Spottie) again. #verythankfulwefoundblaize”

“Becky is a Doggy sitter SuperStar! She is extremely attentive to my fur babies. She keeps me regularly updated with pics and videos which makes me feel so secure when I am away. We just absolutely love Becky!!! She has a sincere love for pets, I am so thankful we found a responsible and friendly as Becky!”

“Brandi is very kind and polite. She sent me tons of photos and updates, even for a short trip, which made me fell much more comfortable with her during our first booking. I will definitely book her again!”
“10/10 for another stay with Stephanie! I got so many updates and pictures of my sweet babies while away! She went above and beyond! Always made sure they had fresh food and water and ample love!! Even did laundry before she left! Cannot recommend Stephanie enough! If you are looking for someone to not only care for your animals but also your home - book with Stephanie!”

“Jason was wonderful, patient with our anxious dogs. We lost both our sitters as they moved. So we’re working on finding new sitters. At first our little one was very scared and vicious.. Jason gave him treats and won him over in no time. He just stayed the day, but definitely call him again. He’s definitely a dog whisperer.👍💜🐾”

“Kelly was amazing! We had a last minute family emergency and she really came through. She took amazing care of our fur babies and our home, with quick responses and tons of updates and images. I would highly recommend and absolutely rebook next time.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Safety Harbor
We were new to Rover and had previously only had family or close friends look after our dogs when traveling. We ran into a last minute bind and needed to find someone to look after our dogs a day before we left. That’s when we were fortunate enough to get paired with Katie. From the first interaction, Katie was responsive, accommodating to our requests, and absolutely wonderful with our very co-dependent dogs. She sent us pictures and check-ins daily which truly exceeded my expectations. She took the best care of our pets while we were away and I’m truly grateful we met Katie. We will absolutely book with her in the future.

Lillian was very good at communicating with pictures some days. This is one of the most important things to having someone in your home watching our Precious Fluffys . She let our Cockapoo snuggle in bed with her , that made Amber much more comfortable and lessened her missing us . She also made headway with our kitty , that is very shy . She got him to come to her for pets and snacks . This made us feel even better fir a more Peaceful vacation . Lillian is a delight , she also fed the squirrels in our yard and refreshed their water , which is so important during drought times . She also left our hone so clean, we almost couldn't tell she was here . Thank You Lillian for all of your help . We will hire her again .

Jace was fantastic! She did 2 short visits before our trip to get to know our 3 kitties, including one that was still in the integration process. One of our cats has a special diet as well. She was very responsive and sent my wife plenty of photos and videos. We can tell our cats liked her and we will book her for our upcoming out-of-town time when we go to a wedding. She went above and beyond and because of her study situation online, she was able to be at our home about 18-20 hours per day, which replicates our schedule working almost entirely from home. If you think to book her, do it. You will not regret your decision.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Safety Harbor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Safety Harbor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Safety Harbor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Safety Harbor. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
