“Meaghon was wonderful to work with! Incredibly responsive and my brood loved spending the weekend with her. We were very fortunate to have found her and can’t wait to book future trips knowing our babies will be in the best of hands!”

“Kalliah was wonderful! This was the first time we left our dogs with anyone in 3 years. She gave us detailed morning and evening updates along with pictures. Her feedback showed us how comfortable the dogs were with her. We came home to happy puppies! Thank you Kalliah!”

“Kayla is awesome! She went the extra mile to make sure our pets were well taken cared for and felt comfortable, also given us the peace of mind on a persistent basis while we were away on trip, regarding our 5 fur babies. Kayla is very organized, reliable and flexible to the pets needs and schedule. I would highly recommend!”

“April was exceptional and went above and beyond. She kept me informed about what she and our pup were up to and sent lots of photos of their long walks and snuggles. After each walk, she checked him thoroughly for ticks and she even watered my plants while we were away. I felt confident my pup and home were in excellent hands! Highly recommend her!”

“Fiorella was a wonderful caretaker for our three dogs and home while we were away. She sent regular photos and followed all instructions thoroughly. Also left the house nice and clean!”

“We came home to a happy and well cared for dog! Haleigh sent us updates and pictures throughout the week to let us know how our dog was doing! We loved getting these updates.”
“John did a great job house sitting and caring for our two cats, Cleo and Pico. He kept us updated with messages and photos, and we came home to happy cats and a spotless house. It gave us real peace of mind while we were away. Thanks John!”

“My dog is reactive but Daniela not only handled him but my brothers dog for 4 days as well. My dog warmed to her immediately. Daniela asked thoughtful questions about my pup's care when we first met that let me know my pup was in good hands. She took good care of my pup and provided a lot of updates and photos that helped put my mind at ease while traveling. Highly, Highly recommend!”

“Kristen is amazing! Punctual, friendly, calm. Great communication. Best of all, Teddy seemed to love her and be extremely comfortable with her. It was the fastest I have ever seen him settle down with someone even with meds. Will definitely be booking with Kristen again when someone is needed. Thank you!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for many years, I am a huge animal lover. For neighbors, friends, family, all dogs and cats big and small I have so much love for them all. I work part time as a CNA, I only work a few days a week so I am available to watch your pups! I work every other weekend so i’d be available for boarding on my off weekends. I have a large yard and my dog gets taken out on a leash, I have a puppy so I am familiar with crate training and house training.

“I had a really great experience with Kendal. She was able to step in on very short notice when I had to travel unexpectedly, took excellent care of my dogs and kept me updated while I was away, which this anxious dog mom greatly appreciated. She was a very considerate houseguest as well. I’d definitely recommend her and would happily book with her again!”

“Rebecka is kind, thoughtful and detail oriented. She cared well for our anxious senior pup and made decisions in Mellows best interest 100% of the time. Rebecka is terrific! 100/100 recommend her-”

“Jared was great, attentive and communicated well. Was glad to have someone caring for my dog while he was in cone head mode and had to stay behind on Thanksgiving! Would definitely re-book”

“Lila was a great sitter for Minnie. My very anxious “baby” took to Lila very quickly and that is not her norm, so I felt very comfortable leaving them together. Lila communicated and kept in touch well. She was very respectful of my home and even left a cute doggie thank you note. Minnie seemed to love her and I know this because often when I get home Minnie us sitting by the door waiting. She was sleeping in the living room and much calmer than my usual returns. I recommend Lila as responsive, responsible, and respectful. Thank you!!!”

“Erinn is the best! We have two senior dogs, one with special needs after having IVDD surgery, and when we came back from our little trip they were happy as ever. She’s knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly good with the pups. I’ve never seen them so at ease with a stranger. We’ll be booking her again soon!”

About: I like to watch it’s me or the dog every night. And my cat from hell. I’m interested in getting my dog training certificate in the nearest future. My cat brings me such joy. He is a 16 year old black cat and such a good boy! He can even go on walks with us. I work for the Worcester Public schools and have all school vacations off. I am able to come and do house calls in the evening time (4-late night) or house sit overnight on weekdays or weekends. Also during school vacations including the summer. We have an indoor house cat. He’s declawed and very friendly. We also have a fenced in area in the backyard with very high fences. There is possibility that borders could be segregated from the cat if necessary. We are in a good neighborhood for walking and very near some good trails.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Rutland is $62
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Rutland
Sarah was beyond professional and caring for my two dogs. I was in a last minute pinch and she replied instantly and was even willing to come meet me and my family later in the evening the night before to make sure we were comfortable before finalizing booking. She asked questions, explained the process from her end, and most of all, was professional, caring and understanding that the dogs are my babies and she wanted them to be at ease. She mentioned trust is a huge thing for her and that went a long way. My dogs were so content with her and although they’re anxious dogs, they relaxed and sat with her while we were away all day. They’re sleeping soundly now at home so I know they had a peaceful and comforting day with Sarah and she took the best care of them. She truly saved the day and I can’t thank her enough for putting us at ease and treating our dogs like her own. 10000 stars - 10/10. She also sent so many photos and updates like I asked and I felt like I was there with them! She left our house so clean and was so respectful. So glad I found Sarah and will be using her going forward!! Thank you, Sarah!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rutland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rutland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rutland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rutland. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
