About: About Me Hi there! I’m a lifelong dog lover and retired Los Angeles firefighter who recently relocated to Middletown. Dogs aren't just a passion of mine—they’ve been my life’s work. Over the past 17+ years, I’ve worked as a professional Search and Rescue K9 handler, raising and working alongside three incredible SAR dogs of my own and helping train dozens more toward official certification. Now in my retirement, my days revolve around outdoor adventures, active play, and giving dogs the best possible care while their owners are away. My trusty companion Mojo, a friendly rescue pup, loves meeting new playmates and welcoming guests! What Sets My Care Apart * Safe, Active, and Enriched: I walk or hike almost daily and love taking guest dogs along for the journey! Whether your pup enjoys a leisurely neighborhood stroll, learning to hike safely, or exploring new surroundings, they’ll get plenty of physical exercise and fun. * Positive, Brain-Boosting Fun: My training philosophy is rooted in positive reinforcement and reward-based training. I love watching what behaviors dogs naturally offer and shaping them into fun new "tricks." It’s an incredible bonding experience that gives dogs great mental stimulation and keeps them happily engaged. * Spacious Acreage: I have a wonderful local property with tons of room for dogs to run, play, and burn off energy in a calm, safe environment (fully fenced as of late September!). * Unmatched Peace of Mind: Being fully retired means I am almost always home! I never host or board dogs on days when I need to be away for more than a couple of hours, ensuring your pet gets round-the-clock attention, safety, and companionship. Guests and Compatibility I am completely comfortable with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and life stages—from energetic puppies to senior companions. I also occasionally foster rescue dogs, so Mojo and I are well-versed in hosting social pups who enjoy extra canine company. Need help fine-tuning your dog’s leash manners during their stay? Just ask—we can easily discuss building positive leash habits while they’re here! Reach out today to schedule a meet-and-greet. Mojo and I can’t wait to welcome your pup to their home away from home! Being retired means my entire day is built around quality pet care! Our mornings always start with a good outdoor workout, followed by short, engaging training and exercise sessions spread throughout the day. Because I am home full-time, your pup will enjoy a structured routine packed with continuous companionship, mental enrichment, and plenty of activity. Your dog’s safety and peace of mind are my top priorities. My home is nestled in a quiet, low-traffic rural area, offering a calm and peaceful setting away from busy streets. Outdoor playtime happens in a spacious, full-acre yard—completely fenced as of September 21st—giving pets a secure, massive space to run and play freely. To ensure constant security and supervision, my property is also equipped with indoor and outdoor smart cameras, so I always have an eye on my guests whether we're inside or out in the yard.
“We truly appreciated Samarth's conscientiousness in watching our dog this past weekend. Our dog ended up not getting along well with his puppy and Samarth was very quick to notice this and careful about keeping the dogs separate for the weekend, while also making sure that our dog was well exercised and taken care of. This was a tricky situation - we felt bad that we were so far away and unable to help out and very appreciative of Samarth for his understanding.”
“Anne-Marie and her partner did a superb job taking care of Bella. They sent daily updates and photos, and provided Bella with thorough and attentive care. It was clear from the photos and when I picked up Bella that she enjoyed her stay :) highly recommend, looking forward to next stay.”

“We are so grateful for the amazing care you gave our dog! From the very beginning, Careen were kind, reliable, and attentive to every detail. It gave us great peace of mind knowing our dog was in such loving hands. We could tell our dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the stay. Thank you for treating our pet like family — we highly recommend your dog care service to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate!”

“As always, our pup is in the best of hands, she’s always excited to stay with Ariel and her family of humans and furry friends. I love our daily updates and pictures and so happy she is in a home environment when we cannot be home with her. Thank you!”

“If you need a pet sitter - Pauline is your girl!! I can’t thank her enough for hosting my two dogs in her home for the night. I received photos & an update within 30 minutes of dropping them off - & without having to check in myself - which I absolutely loved & appreciated. I then received updates all throughout the day which is exactly what I needed! She was VERY attentive to the dogs, asked about/followed their normal routine & updated me if she sensed anything was wrong or if the dogs seemed uncomfortable (one of them was exhibiting signs of an ear infection). I know my dogs were well taken care of and enjoyed their stay. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and we are so very grateful to Pauline!!!”

“Davon was amazing. I outreached very impromptu and he was available for a meet and greet with Arya. ( which went well. We reviewed the basics of her care and he made sure to get a full understanding of what is needed to make Aryas stay as comfortable as possible) drop off was nice. He has spacious living accommodations. What stood out is his willingness to work with Arya being that she is a Bully. There are a many false conceptions about this breed. With his family background working with bully’s and pitbull, and his love for animals in general, I had no concerns that Arya was in good care. During her overnight visit, he provided checks up and sent pictures for reassurance. He also introduced Arya to family and friends ( which I love ) being that she is not around other dogs or people, helping her socialize. Picking Arya up was easy. All items returned and she was happy ! I previously boarded her , and when picking her up she was distant, had scratches and limped !!! All in all, 5 stars for Devon. I recommend and will use him again. 🐾💕”

“Yajaira watched my baby girl for a week when i left for a cruise. I had limited service and was a bit on edge since i had to find a last minute sitter since my girls last sitter moved to another state. Yajaira made me feel comfortable and kept me updated as much as she could. Genesis also became comfortable with her which made me even more comfortable :)9”

About: I’ve loved and cared for animals for most of my life, including dogs of different sizes, ages, and personalities. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to help with walking, feeding, playtime, basic grooming, and keeping pets comfortable while they are away. I understand that every pet has their own routine, energy level, and personality, so I take the time to follow instructions closely and make sure each pet feels safe, loved, and cared for. I’m especially patient with shy pets, senior pets, and dogs who need a little extra time to warm up. Whether your pet loves long walks, quiet companionship, structured routines, or lots of play, I’ll treat them with the same care and attention I would want for my own babies. I work remotely, which gives me flexibility to provide attentive pet care throughout the day. I can usually accommodate walks, drop-in visits, feeding routines, playtime, and check-ins depending on your pet’s needs and my schedule. I’m also available for weekend care and can work with owners to keep pets on their normal routine as much as possible. Because I’m home often, pets in my care will receive regular attention, bathroom breaks, and companionship rather than being left alone for long stretches. I’ll always discuss timing and expectations ahead of time so your pet’s care plan is clear and reliable. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I will follow your instructions carefully for feeding, medication, walks, crates, routines, house rules, and any special needs. I’ll make sure doors, gates, leashes, and harnesses are secure and will never take unnecessary risks with your pet. In your home, I’ll be respectful, clean, and careful with your space. In my home, pets will have a calm, supervised environment with plenty of attention and care. I’m happy to provide updates, photos, and messages so you feel confident that your pet is safe, comfortable, and being treated with kindness.
“My dog has bad separation anxiety so it’s very hard for me to leave her with anyone, let alone someone new! Janelle was great! She sent me daily updates and pictures and made phoebe feel loved. Soon after I left her there, my worries went away. I will definitely leave her with Janelle again!”

“Bruce is very competent and took great care of my dog. I received texts and photos three times a day with an update on bathroom trips, walks and that she ate her food. A meeting ahead of the booking was very helpful. I would definitely book with Bruce again.”

“Stephanie did an amazing job with my Otter while I was gone on my trip! She took him to a dog party and walked/hiked with him every day. I received tons of updates and pictures. If you are leaving town, leave your pup with Stephanie, she is awe-inspiring.”

“I can’t say enough about Dyan. She watched my senior blind, deaf toy poodle and took such great care of him. Dyan went out of her way to try to make him as comfortable as possible. You could tell she really loves dogs. I was so fortunate to find her. I would highly recommend Dyan to anyone.”
“Enrique H. was... no is absolutely amazing! He was very kind to our puppy. We were very nervous leaving our lil one for the first time, but his experience, set up of his house, and communication skills made it easy for us to trust he would take good care of our puppy. If you are looking for someone to take care of your high energy puppy, Enrique H. is the one!”

About: I’ve owned dogs and cats my whole life, and I am very comfortable taking care of animals in a variety of sizes and personalities. I have a degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University, and I spent 8 years working with Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I currently work as a Registered Nurse. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
