“Brandy is always a caring and reliable sitter. We feel so comfortable knowing all of our animals will be in such good hands - that is real peace of mind when traveling.”

“Emily was far and away better than we could’ve hoped for! From daily photos to tracking our dogs’ meds to visits at lunch and leaving our home cleaner than we left it. She was a fantastic sitter that we will absolutely book again in the future. 11/10 recommend.”

“Whitney did a great job caring for our two small dogs and providing daily photos of the dogs looking well cared for and loved. Whitney returned to our home beyond her scheduled time to care for our dogs as our flight was delayed. This was much appreciated and went above and beyond her commitment.”

“Elizabeth is very responsive. She took great care of my nervous pup and cat on short notice. She left the house cleaner than it was when she arrived, I think! We've already booked our next sit with Elizabeth and I look forward to having great peace of mind while we are gone.”

About: I grew up with a lotttt of cats and a dog. I currently have a big puppy and my roommate has three cats I help take care of. I loooove animals and always have! I work a lot, my schedule is a little all over the place but I am usually home most of the day and leave the pets with lots of water. Unfortunately the animals in my house are a little greedy, so they get fed once in the morning and once at night. We have two cat trees and lots of scratching posts for them. They (of COURSE) prefer climbing our bookshelves instead. I have some plants but keep them in areas they dont have access to. My dog gets two 10-20 minute walks a day and goes to the dog park as much as possible
“Ashley watched our two cats and house sat while we were away. She was very professional during our meet and greet and asked all the right questions. Ashley was incredibly responsive when we had reached out and sent us daily pictures. We knew that our little fur babies were loved and cared for while in her care. Once you meet her, it’s clear how much Ashley loves animals. We look forward to having her cat sit again for us in the future!”

“A couple of days after being home, our doodles seemed to not feel well. Over the course of the next week, we have had 1 doodle vomit 3 different items, two being socks. This morning, we found a sock on the other doodle's poop. We emphasized their tendencies to eat things, and the importance of watching them closely because of this. Kaitlin did medicate everyone as asked, and other to dos around the house were taken care of. However, she did not scoop the dog poop in the back yard, though, and we received pictures rather infrequently during our vacation. We were planning to use her again with better communication on our part, but after the multiple foreign objects and sick doodles, we can't risk it.”

“Jaedyn has home-sat our 3 little dogs twice now and can’t say enough good things about him. Most importantly, I know I can feel confident in their safety. He’s super fast to communicate and punctual. And also, this is a person who the dogs really just love to see. A++”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life, and though I haven’t recently because of getting a job, I used to take care of dogs in the neighborhood. They trusted me to know what their dog needs and to love them I have my own cat named Dobby and everyday I feed him, care for him, and make sure all of his needs are met. I also make sure he is healthy and happy. I will make sure I ready instructions for your fur baby carefully to make sure no miscommunications happen. I will devote my time to making sure your pet is well cared for
“Ali was a great dog sitter for our two terriers. She stayed at our home with them, sent several photo updates and left everything in super shape. We returned to happy dogs and will definitely book with Ali again.”

“Abby was responsible and trustworthy. She took good care of our young and energetic dog, taking her on walks and play dates with other dogs. We arrived home from a week out of town and the house and yard had been well cared for. I would recommend her and would be happy to employ her again down the road.”

“Alyssa stayed the weekend with my labs at my house and I am so grateful for her help and respect of my home/schedule with the labs. She sent some pics to update me on the pups and was a great communicator. Came home to a house as clean as I left it and very happy labs. Would definitely recommend!”

About: Hello, I love meeting new animals and visiting the pets in the animal shelter! I have had a puppy and 3 cats growing up and would love to work for you! I am currently able to work in the mornings and evenings everyday. I am a college student who misses her pet at home and considers pets like family. I have a cat and love my significant others dog like my own. I love animals like family and miss mine from home since I am currently living at college.
“How great to have found Emily to care for our pet. She was professional, considerate and patient - very understanding of nervous pet-parents leaving the pet for the first time overnight.”

“I've worked with several Rover sitters over the past few years and Annie is the absolute best so far! This was our first time having someone house sit as compared to boarding so I was a little nervous. Annie was attentive to details, did a meet and greet with Ivy a few weeks before, and again right before we left. Annie was very communicative throughout and gave us positive updates throughout. She also inquired proactively about things we may have not discussed to ensure she was on the same page. Within a few hours of us leaving, our pup was already showing signs of being comfortable which isn't easy as she has progressed from severe separation anxiety. When we came home, you'd hardly know Annie had stayed as she left our home just as she had found it. If you're looking for a reliable and compassionate sitter, Annie is your person!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Riverside
Makenna was so patient, conscientious, dedicated and thoughtful! It was difficult to go outside due to the heat, and she played games with the dogs indoors to keep them entertained. That was no small feat for our heeler! She provided regular updates with pics, so we could enjoy our time away knowing the dogs were well cared for. She went above and beyond to take care of our home needs as well, and she left our home spotless!

Alexandra was great with our high energy pup and our two indoor cats. She stayed in our home for a week while we traveled internationally. She gave great updates, helped around the house, and sent pictures frequently. We will definitely use her again and recommend her highly!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Riverside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Riverside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Riverside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
