“Alyssa stayed the weekend with my labs at my house and I am so grateful for her help and respect of my home/schedule with the labs. She sent some pics to update me on the pups and was a great communicator. Came home to a house as clean as I left it and very happy labs. Would definitely recommend!”

About: Animals have always been a passion of mine. I am highly knowledgeable about dog care, behavior, and overall well-being. I have experience helping whelp puppies and have cared for and trained dogs throughout every stage of life, from puppies to seniors. I currently have a senior dog myself, giving me firsthand experience with the special attention older pets need. In addition to dogs, I have farm experience caring for horses, pigs, chickens, and other animals. I treat every pet with patience, compassion, and the same love and attention I give my own animals. Let’s plan a day for me to come do a meet and greet :) I am currently transitioning out of my full-time job and will be fully available for pet care starting July 2nd. I will have open and flexible availability moving forward and am excited to dedicate more time to providing dependable, attentive care to every pet I look after. Pet care is a true passion of mine, and I take pride in making sure each animal feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I look forward to expanding my availability and continuing to do what I love most—caring for animals full time. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. I strive to provide a calm, loving, and stress-free environment, caring for pets in the comfort of their own home. I understand that many pets feel most secure in familiar surroundings, and I am committed to maintaining their routines and giving them the individualized attention they deserve. With experience caring for animals of all ages, I am attentive, patient, and treat every pet as if they were my own. Building trust with both pets and their owners is incredibly important to me, and I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and compassionate.
“We love Brandy, she is great to work with! She keeps us updated and takes great care of our pup while we are away and this was the longest we have ever been away from our pup… we missed her so much and I know she missed us! Thank you so much Brandy!! Until next time ❤️ P.S Ruby misses you bunches!”

“I was in Eugene for a concert and my dog couldn't be left unattended in the hotel so i turned to rover. Cookie can be a little wary of strangers but she warmed up quickly and i left her without worry. Makenna arrived early and sent me photos of my dog at ease. When I got back they were snuggled up and I could tell that cookie was well tended to. I was a professional pet sitter for 14 years and Makenna did everything right, I definitely recommend her and if I'm ever in a similar situation in Eugene she'll be the first person I call.”

“Abby was responsible and trustworthy. She took good care of our young and energetic dog, taking her on walks and play dates with other dogs. We arrived home from a week out of town and the house and yard had been well cared for. I would recommend her and would be happy to employ her again down the road.”

About: My name is Gabby and I am a veterinary student at Oregon State University. I have been pet sitting for over 10 years and have many years of experience in the veterinary field. I am comfortable giving medications and providing care to pets with a variety of medical needs. I am certified in Dog and Cat CPR and am Fear Free Certified, which means I am trained to recognize and reduce stress, anxiety, and fear in animals. As a veterinary student, I have additional knowledge of animal health and behavior and can recognize potential concerns and provide an extra level of care and attention. I have a very flexible schedule during the summer and can make many visits during the day or stay however long your pet may need! It's important that both you and your pet can trust that I will provide the best care. Since I am planning on becoming a veterinarian one day, I am committed to the wellbeing of animals. That means that I guarantee that your pet will get lots of playtime, attention, and the care it needs. I will make sure that your pet is comfortable around me first to avoid any nerves and so we can have a great time together!
“Whitney did a great job of keeping Jubilee fed and exercised. She also was able to manage through some unexpected challenges with little direction while we were out of service range. She is greay and you would be lucky to have her care for your animals! Thanks Whitney!”

About: Hi! My name is Charlotte. I’ve spent years looking after neighbors’ dogs and cats, and caring for pets has honestly always been something I naturally gravitated toward. I have experience with all kinds of dogs — young puppies, senior dogs, huge breeds, tiny breeds, high-energy dogs, shy dogs, trained dogs, and dogs that still need a little patience and structure. I’m comfortable adapting to different personalities, routines, and needs because I understand every pet is different. I also love volunteering at my local humane shelter, which has given me even more hands-on experience working with a wide variety of dogs and temperaments. It’s something I genuinely enjoy because I love getting to know animals and making them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Whether your pet needs long walks, playtime, cuddles, medication, patience, or just someone reliable to keep them company, I’m happy to help. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, so I always try to provide the same level of care and attention I’d want for my own animals. I’m dependable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animals, and I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets while you’re away! My schedule is very flexible, especially outside of classes since school is my main priority as an almost second-year student at Oregon State. I have reliable transportation, so I’m able to travel easily for drop-ins, walks, overnight stays, and pet care throughout the week. I care for pets and clients’ homes with a lot of respect, responsibility, and attention to detail. I always clean up after myself, follow instructions carefully, and make sure pets feel safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. I believe mutual trust and respect are extremely important when caring for someone’s home and animals.
“Chris was an excellent pup sitter for our black lab. We were nervous to leave our boy and it was our first time having a stranger in our home to care for him. Chris was kind and patient with Cayde and gave us frequent updates on how things were going. Chris put us at ease and left the home as he found it. We'd definitely have him return for future in-home pet sitting!!”

“Lauren stayed with my cat and dog for two weeks and they loved her! Jasper looked for her in the house after she left- he misses her! They stayed busy and active and I received a lot of pictures and updates. Lauren is incredibly thoughtful and conscientious. Knowing she was here with the babes gave me such peace of mind on my trip. She is amazing!”

About: I am an animal lover, I only have 2 pets in my home right now, but I would have a cat rescue if I was able. Experience with all ages of pets. My schedule is flexible as I work from home. I prefer to walk in the morning or evening, to avoid heat stress, but I am able to work around your schedule I have an 8yr old St. Benard who is a gental giant and a 8ish year old cat that's my baby. A fenced large yard.
“Debbie was great. She handled everything professionally, asked great questions, and even had some suggestions. Good communication leading up to and during our trip. We would use her again.”

“Henry was very friendly and handled my dogs like a pro. He stayed in my house for most of a week to look after them and left my place clean. My dogs were happy and relaxed when I got home. They're very high energy dogs, so that speaks volumes for Henry's care.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Shedd
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 1,110 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shedd. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shedd walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shedd maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shedd choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
