“Sarah was great! Easy to communicate with. Was able to book somewhat last minute for our two doggos, which was a wonderful surprise. I'd highly recommend booking with her!”

“We were pretty nervous about having someone in our home to take care of our pets, and have always relied on boarding with out vet, in the past. Shanelle is the first person who we have ever had housesit with our pets. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. We have had her stay 2 or 3 times, and one time for over a week. She is wonderful! She is the sweetest, kindest person, and really seems to care about our home and our pets. Her fiance helps her from time to time and he is also very nice and reliable. Besides doing everything that was expected, she also made sure our newly planted grass was watered every day, and took our 9 month old puppy to her own home for a playdate with her own dogs. Our house was clean and in perfect order when we got home. We can't thank Shanelle enough for such a great experience, and we highly recommend her! We will have her stay again, for sure!”

“Carson did a wonderful job house sitting with our German Shepherd for 1 week. She sent pictures and updates. We were quite comfortable leaving our boy, Jax, in her care. I would not hesitate using Carson again in the future.”

“Arianna was great with Ziva. She sent pics. every day and evening of Ziva having a good time. Arianna also kept my house clean as she went During the days she was there. We are hoping she will be available for my next trip out of town.”

About: I have taken care of pets since I was 13 and house sat since I was 15!! I was also a kennel tech for a year! This included giving medication, bathing, feeding, and just plain old watching the pets! I know CPR for our fury friends too! I have two dogs of my own as well as four cats so I am completely comfortable with a variety. I am a college student working on my masters online while working another job as well. My schedule is pretty straight forward for me so pet care will fit well as long as I keep my calendar balanced. I am comfortable house sitting for both dogs and cats. I am more than capable of crating or letting pets out to potty. I usually keep treats on me anytime I care for a furry friend. When I walk animals, I usually go for 30 minutes to an hour so that they get the excercise needed. I also have bags for when they do their business on a walk.

About: I have extensive experience caring for animals, as I’ve had pets in my home since I was a baby. Growing up around pets taught me responsibility at a young age, including feeding, grooming, cleaning, and making sure animals feel safe and comfortable. Over the years, I’ve cared for a variety of pets and have become very attentive to their needs, behaviors, and routines. I understand how important it is to provide not just basic care, but also companionship, patience, and love. My lifelong experience has made me confident in handling different personalities and ensuring pets are well cared for while their owners are away. I am a full time college student and work a part time job as a server. Most of my availability is in the mornings on weekdays and weekends as needed. I am a reliable and caring pet sitter with extensive experience providing private pet care for families. Over time, I’ve built trust with pet owners by consistently showing up on time, following specific care instructions, and treating every pet as if they were my own. I’ve cared for pets with different routines, temperaments, and needs, which has made me adaptable and attentive in any situation. Whether it’s feeding, walking, administering basic care, or simply spending quality time with pets, I always prioritize their comfort, safety, and happiness while their owners are away.
“This is our second time having Lauren watching our pups. Our two dogs are usually nervous around people but they always do amazing with her! Definitely recommend her for your furry family.”

“Nate was a fantastic sitter. We had him come in for a date night so we didn't have to feel rushed, but he still made sure he knew about all the things he might need to take care of while we were gone. He was very good about being in contact before and during his time watching Rae. Would definitely recommend.”

About: I've been lucky enough to take care of homes and pets in lots of different places, like California, Oregon, and even other countries. All that experience has helped me become really good at providing reliable and loving care for both pets and their people. I’m really good at going with the flow and can easily change my schedule to fit what a pet needs. Whether it’s walking the dog early in the morning, playing with them in the afternoon, or feeding them at night, I’m always flexible and ready to adjust. I always do exactly what my clients ask me to do, whether it’s about feeding their pet on time, giving them medicine, or teaching them good behavior. I know how important it is to keep things consistent for pets, so I try to make their routine as comfortable and familiar as possible.
“Hey so im horrible at writing this stuff and usually I don't but I really feel like I need to here. I tend to over worry about everything especially my dog and I've always been hesitant on dog sitters I don't personally know. She listened to all my concerns and to be honest I was not worried at all while I was gone. She gave great updates mentioned any issues and im pretty sure my dog already misses her. 100 percent if you are trying out this app for the first time use her especially if you overthink things.”

“This is the second time Sean had stayed with our dogs and he has taken great care of them! He kept us updated about our loved ones and we knew they were in safe hands.”

About: I have owned pets all my life from dogs and cats to ferrets and lizards. I am currently studying animal science in pursue of a degree in veterinary medicine. I have trained puppies and volunteered at shelters so I have been exposed to lots of different dog breeds. Last summer I worked side by side with a Vet and gained lots of experience with many animals. My schedule is very flexible considering I am a college student and only work when I am home on breaks. I am working at a vet clinic and getting experience in that field. I am also available on weekends and capable of working with you to put the needs of your pet first. My dogs have a fenced in yard so during this time of year they spend a lot of time outside and playing fetch. We have crate trained them as puppies so I can accommodate to any means necessary.
“I would strongly recommend Adrienne to anyone who needs a dog sitter. She is just amazing. She did an overnight in-home sitting job with our dog Ryder and I couldn’t have been more impressed. Ryder is a high energy dog who loves attention and lots of interaction. Adrienne kept him perfectly on schedule and provided great companionship for him. She sent frequent updates and pictures and I felt completely at ease knowing he was so well cared for. She also took the time to learn about his needs and schedule and personality before the job. I I will definitely be seeking out her talents again!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Reno walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Reno maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Reno choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Reno. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
