“Petra did a very good job with my cats; one has twice a day medication. She tried alternate ways to treat Hercules and got through a difficult situation. I came home to well cared for cats and clean home.”

“Gabriella did a wonderful job pet sitting for us! We have a dog that can be a bit much and she did the best job handle it her and making her feel comfortable the whole time we were away. We would love for Gabriella to pet sit for us in the future. She did a perfect job.”

“Sarah was awesome. She sent pics & a recap of how the day went every day. The dogs were happy & healthy when we got home. Our place was clean & neat. We definitely will book again. I highly recommend her.”

“Maya was amazing! She checked in on Joey multiple times throughout the day and was great at updating me with pictures of them playing, going on walks, or just hanging out at the house. She was very trustworthy and did a great job communicating. Joey loved her and was in great spirits when I got home from my trip. I will definitely be rebooking Maya for future pet care.”

“This is the second time Sean had stayed with our dogs and he has taken great care of them! He kept us updated about our loved ones and we knew they were in safe hands.”

“Hannah and her husband took great care of our animals..and our home! Hannah sent me photos and regular updates which really helped reassure me that they were okay. They looked so happy and were their happy normal selves when we got home! We had a really bad negative experience in the past with someone else and Hannah and Nick were breaths of fresh air! Put us at ease! Highly recommend and we will use them again if we go on another trip!! It’s worth it to mention that one of our dogs is a senior who has mobility issues. So if you need someone for your old buddy, contact them!”
“Haylee is very sweet and personable, she took great care of my dog. Will definitely have her sit for us again, I know Lucille looks forward to her next “slumber party” with Haylee :)”

“Maya stayed with my 3 dogs for 7 days and I highly recommend her. She also answered immediately when I had any questions and sent me photos of my dogs while I was gone. I will definitely request her if needed in the future.”

“Emma was fantastic both house and dog sitting! She kept in communication with us and handled a mini-emergency with one of our pups efficiently and without complaint. We are already scheduling her for our next vacation 5 months out!”

“This is our second time having Lauren watching our pups. Our two dogs are usually nervous around people but they always do amazing with her! Definitely recommend her for your furry family.”

“We couldn't be more happy with the excellent care of our dogs and our home during Keegan's first dog sitting with us. The dogs loved her from the minute they met. We will be booking with Keegan again.”

“Elyea will have your pets saying "hell yeah!" We have a people reactive American Bully mix who comes from a background of trauma. She takes a very long time to adjust to new humans and makes boarding (and thus going out of town) very difficult. Elyea was up for the challenge and willing to work with us on adjustment so when we actually got to our time to go out of town, both her and Freya would do well with it. Elyea came over for four meet and greets within a couple of weeks leading up to our travel, and each time, Freya got a bit more comfortable with her. Elyea's animal handling experience shined through, as she understood the intricacies of Freya's needs and didn't just dismiss instruction with a "it's fine, I love dogs," aa many people do. When it came time for us to actually go out of town, everyone got along great and all was well. Patient, caring, and flexible. 💯 Will be booking again.”

“Emma was great with Reo and he was well taken care of- I was gone for almost 10 days -she sent me pics and let me know how he was doing almost every day, he is typically anxious and a poor eater when I’m gone, but she got him eating and even a flavor of food he normally won’t eat. She left everything clean and even washed her bedding! I am very comfortable with her caring for my dog and staying at my house. I will definitely use her again.”

About: I have had many years of experience caring for my own pets, including feeding, walking, basic care, and putting them in a safe and loving space when I am with them. Friends and family have trusted me with their pets since I was little and I have no doubt that I can provide pets with what they need. I currently don't work, but if I do eventually, it would be part-time so I will have a ton of time to watch your pets! I will treat your home and pets with respect while carefully following instructions in detail. I will communicate regularly with you with updates and photos about how your pets are doing! I will do all of this while keeping your space clean, calm, and consistent with your pet's routine.
“Maren was an amazing house sitter! She went above and beyond with the dogs to take them on walks and was very understanding of my nervous chihuahua. She left the house looking amazing and we are so appreciative!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lawrence
Sarah was professional and compassionate with Piva sharing hugs and walks. This was extra-extended stay and Sarah was extremely responsible and responsive during stay. Sarah stayed in our house and left the house immaculate. The communication was clear and consistent and I always felt in the loop. I highly recommend Sarah as a dog/house sitter.

Emma took great care of our dogs, cat, and other pets while we’re away for a week. The dogs can be hard to walk together, but she got them taken care of. She took excellent care of our home as well and was a fantastic house guest. We will definitely call her first when we need coverage.

Kyra was excellent with my two ragdolls! One needed several meds and fluids, and she administered them with ease. I loved the photo updates and seeing they were so well-cared for. I am so glad we found Kyra on short notice before our trip, and I highly recommend her for pet sitting!

Lauren watched our two kitties while we were traveling and it made us feel so much better having her there! We left Lauren quite a comprehensive (maybe too many) list of instructions for our kitties, but she was very receptive and was happy to accommodate all of our requests. We came back to two happy and healthy kitties, and on top of that, a clean house! Thanks so much, Lauren!

I can’t say enough good things about Elyea. She is everything you would want in someone entrusted with your baby. She sent photos and frequent updates. She even set her timer to remind herself to turn on our dehumidifier! Sadie loves her, and that is the best sign of all that she gave her love and attention.

Sarah and Cameron were absolutely phenomenal! They took such great care of Diesel and Oliver while we were away. Oliver can be very shy and takes time to warm up to new people, while Diesel can come across as a little intimidating at first, but they handled both of them with so much patience, confidence, and kindness. Diesel normally goes on a hunger strike whenever we’re away, but this time he ate all of his food—and so did Oliver! That alone says so much about how comfortable they made my boys feel. When we got home, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and full of zoomies, which was the best reassurance that they had been loved and well cared for. Sarah and Cameron also kept us updated with photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. On top of that, they left our home looking just as good as we left it—if not even better! Everything was incredibly clean and tidy, and it honestly felt like they went above and beyond to take care of not only our dogs, but our home as well. I truly couldn’t have asked for better pet sitters and would trust them with Diesel and Oliver again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend Sarah and Cameron to anyone looking for caring, reliable, and exceptional pet sitters!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lawrence walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lawrence maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lawrence choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
