We had a great experience with our dog sitter! She stayed 8 overnights with our pup and took such wonderful care of him. We recently moved into a new house, so this was my first time leaving him there, and I was a bit nervous but Shanelle made the whole experience so much easier. She sent regular updates and photos throughout the stay, which really helped me feel at ease while I was away. It was clear my dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

We couldn't be more happy with the excellent care of our dogs and our home during Keegan's first dog sitting with us. The dogs loved her from the minute they met. We will be booking with Keegan again.

Sarah was professional and compassionate with Piva sharing hugs and walks. This was extra-extended stay and Sarah was extremely responsible and responsive during stay. Sarah stayed in our house and left the house immaculate. The communication was clear and consistent and I always felt in the loop. I highly recommend Sarah as a dog/house sitter.

About: I’ve had a dog for most of my life, starting as a kid when I begged my family to have one. I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to care for your dog. My work schedule is flexible now, and will have time to give your pet the care and attention they need! I can spend lots of quality time with them. I consider dogs to be members of the family. When I have had my own dog in the past, they were generally rarely alone, always going to work with me and on errands.

About: Hi I’m Lillian! I have always loved caring for animals since I was a young child. My family and I have owned and lovingly care for 3 dogs, 4 cats, and a horse. I have 6 years of experience working as a certified veterinarian assistant and kennel technician. I am currently working full time at Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic as a veterinary assistant. As an employee, I have been responsible for walking dogs, cleaning kennels, feeding animals, setting up, assisting, and cleaning up after appointments and surgeries, bathing animals, trimming their nails, ear care, and de-worming! I pride myself in being punctual, professional, compassionate, and highly responsible. I would love the opportunity to walk your dogs or house-sit for your pets as well. I have references available upon request. I live in Eudora and work in Tonganoxie. I currently work 4 days a week as a veterinary assistant, but have 1 hour lunch breaks to come let out your furry family member! I am very available outside of work. We currently have many pets in our own home, however I am more than willing to come to your home in order to care for your pets. I am available to take them for walks, feed them and care for them, doing whatever I need so that your pet is comfortable while you are away. I am available to stay the night at your home, or just come over throughout the day as needed. I will even give you’re pooch a spa day if requested!

I needed a dog sitter when I was going to be out most of the day for an event. I contacted Sean through Rover and we did a meet and greet. He was perfect. He had great experience with dogs and other animals. I have a 10 year old female dog and a 14 month old very energetic male dog. Sean was able to walk right in and work with both of them. My pup had a great time playing fetch as demonstrated by the photos Sean sent me. He was very comfortable and provided great service. I came home and my dogs were calm and relaxed. So don't board your pets, hire Sean. He was great and I will use his services again.

Annicka was a pleasure to work with! She was incredibly kind, communicative, and easy to talk to. During our initial meeting, she asked thoughtful, detailed questions about our puppy’s care, which immediately put us at ease. Throughout her time with him, she was reliable and kept us well-informed with great updates. We felt completely confident leaving our pup in her care and would absolutely utilize her again, as well as recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.

About: I started pet sitting a couple years ago for my family and friends and it’s truly a job I love doing. I have experience with pet sitting several different dogs, varying in age and breed. I have experience with senior dogs. My responsibilities while pet sitting dogs included taking dogs on daily walks, preparing food and water, administering medication, and even giving baths. I’m currently a college student at the University of Kansas, and I am taking classes on the weekdays. I have selected that I’m available on all weekdays, because I have several gaps between classes that will allow me check on and take care of your pets every 2-4 hours. After 3 o’clock on every weekday except Thursday I will be able provide full time care as well as on weekends. My goal is to provide the best care for your pet, and I’m prepared to walk, play, feed, crate, clean and do whatever is needed to provide your pet with the best care.

About: I have extensive experience caring for animals, as I’ve had pets in my home since I was a baby. Growing up around pets taught me responsibility at a young age, including feeding, grooming, cleaning, and making sure animals feel safe and comfortable. Over the years, I’ve cared for a variety of pets and have become very attentive to their needs, behaviors, and routines. I understand how important it is to provide not just basic care, but also companionship, patience, and love. My lifelong experience has made me confident in handling different personalities and ensuring pets are well cared for while their owners are away. I am a full time college student and work a part time job as a server. Most of my availability is in the mornings on weekdays and weekends as needed. I am a reliable and caring pet sitter with extensive experience providing private pet care for families. Over time, I’ve built trust with pet owners by consistently showing up on time, following specific care instructions, and treating every pet as if they were my own. I’ve cared for pets with different routines, temperaments, and needs, which has made me adaptable and attentive in any situation. Whether it’s feeding, walking, administering basic care, or simply spending quality time with pets, I always prioritize their comfort, safety, and happiness while their owners are away.

About: I have lived decades with animals in my life. Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rodents, Fish and more. With the exception of a few years deployed on a Navy Sub I have always lived with animals. As I approach retirement from the Sheriff's 911 center I plan to travel internationally and need to experiment with ways to get my dog fix when back in the USA. So the next 2 yrs I will try adding this (dog sitting) into my very flexible work schedule and see if it will become part of Carter 2.0 I can say with confidence I can't handle most anything that arises. Recently retired from the Sheriff's 911 center. I have a very flexible schedule. I can adjust as needed to fit the needs of the stay. I am respectful and caring. I will work with you to ensure that your family members are as comfortable with me as possible. If a few introductory visits are needed I will be available.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hesper

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 1,291 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hesper. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hesper walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hesper maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hesper choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hesper. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
