“Kristine was so wonderful when we had family in town. She was very flexible on timing and showed up exactly when she said she would. Kristine was so kind and helpful to our pups who had to get fed at dinner time. Would absolutely recommend and can’t wait to book her again!”

About: I am a lawyer, working remotely and living in the Bay Area. My location and flexible schedule allow me time to do what I love, which is caring for and spending time with dogs and cats! I have been pet-sitting and walking since I was 8, and have also been employed as a groomer (in California and Atlanta), a Petsmart sales associate, and a volunteer wildlife caretaker (Humane Society). I have experience with small and large breeds of all ages. I have specific experience caring for elderly dogs that require medication, as my own childhood dogs suffered from arthritis and cancer. I am comfortable with different behavioral types, whether your family member is excitable or a bit shy. I have boarding availability in my apartment throughout the week and weekends. I remotely from home and have a car, my schedule is flexible which allows me to carve out time for visits and walks as bookings come. I have cared for a large variety of pets, with different needs and temperaments - my goal is to make your pup feel happy and secure! Whether they want a long walk, run, time with toys or more affection, I work with your pet and their needs.
“Sophia did an excellent job of caring for our two cats, one who is very mischievous and the other who is a bit finicky and also needs medications. She kept us up to date on their daily activities and sent photos too which we really appreciated. She also took great care of our garden. We feel very fortunate to have found her. We feel confident that she will take good care of our cats and our home too.”

“Deborah kindly met us a week before she sat for our large golden doodle. We had our son’s wedding in HMB. Deborah was very accommodating and arranged a working situation to handle our Eliot for a the long day in a hotel. And when asked to add a puppy of a bridesmaid, she happily cared for two distinctly different dogs- large and older/ puppy and miniature. Deborah easily manages dogs large, small, young and old. I’d highly recommend her for any dog owner!!”

About: I grew up in a family filled with cats and dogs, and dogs have been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember. Sharing my time with them has always brought me so much joy, and when it comes to my experience in pet care, it’s safe to say it spans my entire lifetime. However, as the years have gone by, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to bear the heartbreak of losing them, which has made it hard for me to adopt again. Interestingly, my son seems to have inherited my deep love for animals. So now, together, we’ll share the joy of caring for them. I work full-time from home in my studio, which gives me a flexible schedule that’s perfect for providing personalized care. Most of the time, they’ll hang out with me in my studio—maybe on my lap, or sometimes even on my keyboard. Haha, who knows? They always find a way to make my work so much more enjoyable. Walking the dog has also become my best excuse to get my 12-year-old son to join me for a stroll. Yes, a 12-year-old walking with his dad must have his reasons, right? Haha! Our home is a three-story townhouse with a private entrance. There are no gates, so in most cases the pups are free to move around and enjoy the space. Just a one-minute walk from the front door is a large green area, where they’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore and make new furry friends.

“Vanessa was great! We reached out to her on a Sunday afternoon and she came over to meet us and our pup right away. She was very nice to talk to and definitely knew about taking care of dogs. Will absolutely reach out to her again the next time we need someone to check in on Chego!”

About: We are an animal loving family. We love and have taken care of dogs, cats, hamsters, Guinea pigs, rats, reptiles, ferrets, birds, and more. From when I worked at a vet hospital at 14 to helping my daughter rehome the rats she bred during the pandemic, there is little I haven’t faced in animal care and husbandry. I can feed and care for any animal you want me to care for as long as you give me directions for their care. I work part time and spend the rest of my time making sure your animals get exercise and fun. Have been around all kinds of animals all of my life. I am happy to make visits or stay overnight in home as needed. I like being company for animals and keeping them comfortable when you are gone.

About: I have grown up my whole life with big dogs in the house, and have been watching (and loving) dogs for around a decade. Whether walking and watching my own, neighbors, or family friends- I have gained a lot of experience over the years. I am comfortable with all breeds, sizes, dogs with disabilities, and puppies over the age of 11 months (including untrained). I have experience with overnight house-sitting for up to 4 animals at a time, and dogs with disabilities (as my eldest dog (Maverick) is blind in one eye). Back when I was in middle school I had two yellow labs: Barney & Zoey, and now have 2 yellow labs Maverick (13) & Indy (4). Since my family has always rescued our dogs, sometimes this can come with dogs from situations that have left them with lasting anxiety or behavioral issues. From this, I have learned so much in regards to building trust with dogs, respecting their boundaries, and establishing a safe and comfortable environment for them. In my free time I am a marathon runner, yoga sculpt instructor, and love to hike- so I am always super hyped for a long walk, and getting my steps in with a furry friend! I am super flexible on last minute bookings on weekends, and am available for drop-ins and house sittings when needed! Currently I am a full time student, but I have availability all weekends, MWF from 9-10am, 11-1pm, and all hours after 3:30pm and flexible on T/Th! I also am available in the early morning from 5-8am for a walk or drop-in for all days. Hi! My name is Mila, and I am a third year Undergraduate student in the Bay Area currently studying Economics and Real Estate at Santa Clara University. I am super flexible on means of transportation whether that be a trip to a dog park, a certain park/hike that is your dog's fav, or your own backyard! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or requests within the environment, allergies or preferences for your dogs- making sure they are happy and comfortable is always my priority! (:

“Jeanne was on time the two mornings to feed our feral cats which are three to four of them, though these cats she will not see since they hide until she leaves our front yard. Yet, we invited her into our front room when she came to our front door and Jeanne has a wonderful spirit who can talk about just about anything plus no shyness is there about her. Jeanne smiles, laughs and keeps eye contact while we all talked also. Lovely personality she has... I'm glad she lives close by us too. Thank you. Sincerely, Mrs. Bonnie Kellerby”

About: Work From Home Sitter: I started caring for pets at 19 and have loved it ever since. I’ve lived with dogs and cats for years and have hands on experience from volunteering with 67 cats and 60 dogs at a rescue farm in Antalya, Turkey. I also pet sat while traveling the world, gaining experience with many breeds and personalities. I grew up in a farm with almost all the animals herding sheeps and cows . Friends trust me with their pets when they’re away, and I bring calm, patience, and genuine care to every animal I meet. I’ve used several platforms around the world for pet sitting, and you can find additional reviews about me on Workaway and Facebook. I also have a strong background in childcare I worked as a full-time au pair(childcare), caring for children safely and responsibly for four years across different families, parents trusted me with their children. I take care of pets like they're children they're both so speacial. I provide doggy daycare and have experience working with dogs with separation anxiety. Since I work from home, I can help with training, and if a dog cannot be left alone, I make sure they are always supervised. I’m still building my experience with puppies! 🐶 I’m happy to care for younger dogs who are house trained and have moved past the chewing and nipping stage. 🐾 All of my petsitting income supports the education of village girls in the mountainous regions of Eastern Turkey, including six girls my husband and I been supporting over the years some now continuing their studies in high school and university. Work From Home Sitter living near a dog park and walking trail: I work online from home, which gives me a very flexible schedule for pet care. I can easily stay overnight, or host the pets in my home visit during the day for walks and feed. My routine makes it easy for me to give pets consistent attention, walks, playtime, and comfort throughout the day. To provide the best care, I accept a maximum of two dogs at a time and always introduce them before accepting a second dog to make sure they get along. If they don’t, I only accept one dog at a time. It’s important to me that every dog has the best stay possible like a little vacation while their owner is away. During my lunch break, I take the dog to the dog park or to Stevens Creek Trail near me. After I finish work, usually around 3:30 pm, we go out again. I can also work from your home if your pet needs extra company. Lastly, I live with my husband works from home a couple days a week and grew up with cats, dogs, and hamsters, so pets usually feel comfortable around him. I live in a clean, quiet townhouse with a small patio, and I create a calm environment for any pet I host. Since I work from home, I’m always nearby to check on them, give attention, and take them out for quick potty breaks throughout the day. I live close to the dog park and Stevens Creek trail if your dog is high energy and need play time. To provide the best care, I accept a maximum of two dogs at a time and always introduce them before accepting a second dog to make sure they get along. If they don’t, I only accept one dog at a time. It’s important to me that every dog has the best stay possible like a little vacation while their owner is away. I always inform the pet parents if they are okay with the second dog and if they are okay to have intruduction. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow all instructions carefully and keep routines consistent. I pay close attention to safety, doors and gates, feeding schedules, and your pet’s comfort. I treat every home with respect and every pet with the same care I would give my own.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
