About: I have spent my whole life around animals—dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens, snakes, and more! I even bottle-fed a rabbit from birth. I’m comfortable caring for animals of all ages, from playful puppies and kittens to senior pets who need a little extra patience and attention. I’m very attentive to each pet’s individual needs and love making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I currently work part-time at a restaurant in the mornings only once or twice a week, so my schedule is very flexible. I’m able to work around your pet’s needs and make sure they receive plenty of attention, care, and time. I’m also happy to communicate ahead of time to make sure my availability works well with your schedule! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I will always follow your instructions and your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I’m respectful of your home and will make sure your pets are safe, comfortable, and never left without the care they need. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and pictures so you can feel confident that your pets are happy and well cared for!

Jeffery is absolutely terrific!! We have utilized his services for 2 years now. He has not only cared for our pet, but has also been our house sitter during our trips. We have found him to be a trustworthy and honest person who provides much love and attention to our fur baby. Our pet is a family member whom we love dearly and had a tough life prior to adopting us as his new family. Due to that, we were very concerned with finding someone who would provide the same type of love and attention as he receives from us. I am very happy to say that Jeffery has provided all of that to our pet and can ensure that he will do the same for your pet. I can't thank him enough for helping us to enjoy our time away, by caring for our pet in a way that allows to relax, knowing that he is in good hands.

Laura has been incredibly dependable and trustworthy while caring for our girls. Today, one of them woke up not feeling well, and Laura immediately contacted me without hesitation. Because of her quick action, I was able to arrange a same-day vet visit, and she took care of getting her there and safely back home. It was truly a blessing to have someone so attentive and responsible with our girls. Knowing they were in good hands gave me real peace of mind while I was away. I’m very grateful for her reliability and care.

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience from working at a doggy daycare. I have a dog of my own and regularly care for my family’s pets, so I understand how important it is to have someone you trust. Whether it’s playtime, walks, or cuddles, I treat every pet like they’re my own! I am a teacher and I am currently enjoying my summer off. I have tons of time to come play and care for your pets! I care for pets with a mix of love, attention, and routine. At home or at a client’s home, I make sure pets feel safe and comfortable by sticking to their usual schedule for feeding, walks, and playtime. I always give lots of affection, keep their space clean, and pay close attention to their behavior to make sure they’re happy and healthy. Chrissonna is truly the best, my dogs love her and they are picky ladies! They are so well cared for and comfortable with her that when I got home after a full week away they acted like I had just come home from work. Happy, healthy, and wanting to talk me into snack distribution! I feel absolutely terrible that sometime while I was gone my air conditioning went out, but no one seems worse for wear.

About: I’ve cared for dogs my whole life, including my 3-year-old Goldendoodle and 8-year-old Golden Retriever. I’m experienced with daily walks, feeding routines, playtime, and giving both energetic and senior dogs the attention they need. When your pet is with me, you can expect consistent care, attention, and safety, including walks, playtime, feeding, and water checks exactly as instructed, along with a calm and patient approach for all dog personalities and energy levels. I also provide regular updates with photos and messages so you always know how your pet is doing, and I treat every dog like family. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority at all times. I provide a calm, secure, and supervised environment where dogs are never left unattended during care, and I always follow owner instructions carefully for feeding, walks, and routines. I’m attentive to each dog’s behavior and needs to make sure they feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable, whether they’re energetic or more laid-back. I also keep a clean environment and make sure pets are always in a safe space during visits or stays.

About: I prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort by providing a secure environment in both my home and yours. I follow your pet’s routine, ensure medications are administered as needed, and keep a close eye on their well-being. In your home, I respect your space, keeping everything tidy and secure. My goal is to ensure your pet feels safe, loved, and relaxed while you’re away. Pet care is a priority in my daily routine, and I always make time for the pets I care for. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide consistent care, whether it’s multiple visits per day or extended overnight stays. I tailor my schedule to meet your pet’s specific needs, so they always feel comfortable and well-cared for. I am a dedicated pet sitter with a passion for caring for cats and dogs. I have experience administering medications, maintaining routines, and providing extra attention to senior pets or those with special needs. Taking care of your furry friends and making sure they feel loved and keeping your cat’s environment clean and stress-free, I go above and beyond to ensure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for. Your pet’s happiness and well-being are my top priority!

About: I’m a certified Physician Assistant and lifelong animal lover, and I’m excited to spend some extra time caring for your pets while I try to secure my first job as a PA! I’ve grown up around animals my entire life. My family had a cat who we brought home when I was 2 years old and who was part of my family until I was in college. We also had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and during college I had a Siamese kitten that I shared with my roommates. More recently, I’ve enjoyed dog sitting (& house sitting) with my sister’s Golden Retriever and my best friend’s dog frequently while I was in school. I also watched my friend's kitten over the last year. I’m comfortable with dogs and cats and understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I’m responsible, attentive, and happy to follow your instructions closely so your pet can stay comfortable and on their normal routine while you’re away. I’ll treat your pets and your home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. I’m mainly busy with tasks at home each day while I work toward finding my first job as a PA. Right now, I have very open availability and would love the opportunity to care for your pets while getting a change of scenery and relocating my workspace! I currently plan to provide care in my clients’ homes rather than boarding pets in my own home. I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine and any specific instructions you provide regarding feeding, medications, walks, exercise, and crate use. I’m attentive to keeping pets safe and comfortable, and I’ll make sure doors, gates, and other potential escape routes are secure. I’ll also treat your home with care and respect while you’re away.

About: I grew up with having a dog around the house, so I have always loved being around pets. The last two summers I have pet sat for families while they were on vacation. Some of the dogs I have taken care of have had medical needs, so I am able to give dogs medication if needed. I have taken care of big and small dogs. I look forward to working and taking care of your pet! During the summer I have more availability outside of when I am on vacation. For house sitting services, I am happy to provide overnight care for your pet. There will be times I will leave the home to run errands, go to work, family time and etc. But I will make sure that your pet’s routine is kept in tact and that they get all the snuggles and love they need. I am a full time teacher so once the school year starts my availability will change. I will not be able to provide pet care in my home. But I can provide pet care in a clients home. I am able to provide walks, feed your pet, provide snuggles, and medication if needed. I will ensure the client home stays clean if I am booked for overnight pet care. If it is too hot outside I may limit the time for the walk. I will also bring a water bottle with a bowl to make sure your dog does not overheat.

Five stars isn’t enough! Philip is incredible- friendly, relaxed, and instant friends with new pups. We had never left our puppy for more than a few nights, but had a two week honeymoon planned. Philip came over to meet Cabby before the trip, and his professional but warm attitude put our minds at ease immediately. He sent us pictures and updates while we were gone, gave our girl lots of love, and followed her routine (including medication) to give her stability. He also took great care of our home- I swear it might be cleaner than when we left! Without a doubt, the best experience all-around. We will absolutely be reaching out to Philip and Mallory when we start planning our next trip. Thank you so much, Philip, for taking care of Cabby like your own ❤️ and she sends kisses!

FAQs for House Sitting - Red Cross

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Red Cross on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 2,346 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Red Cross. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Red Cross walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Red Cross maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Red Cross choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Red Cross. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
