“This was our first time ever leaving a pet with someone we didn’t know. Our former pitty had severe abandonment issues that left us very very Anxious. Karma was so relaxed that it eased all of our anxiety. Our baby was very well taken care of and had so much fun with all his new friends and running the big backyard. She gave updates was so flexible when we needed to change our pick up time due to unforeseen circumstances. Will definitely use her in the future.”

“George was so good with our dog Ziggy. Our dog is a very anxious dog, so we worried how it would go- we had no worries with George taking care of him! “Danielle is super friendly and relaxed about everything. Our two small dogs were there for two nights and seemed in great shape when we retrieved them. Her house is clean and there is a nice sun porch and big fenced in backyard. Her kids seemed to have enjoyed the dogs. I’m not really sure what all they did so I can’t comment about that. Thank you Danielle. I felt comfortable leaving them with you and would do again.”

“We’re really happy with Debra and how she handled everything for our dog while we were out of town. We arranged for a meetup before the stay to ensure this would be a good match. When I dropped off our dog there was an introduction to the other pets in her home so our pup could get acclimated. While we were away we received daily updates with photos and it looked like our pup was having a great time. Thanks for taking good care and we look forward to scheduling with you again!”

“Nicole is a master in her field and she made Moe’s visit overnight a lot easier on both him and us. We live in a condo and can’t run around and barks at everything and he’s been spending Tuesday’s with Nicole so he can be around other dogs and run in her big yard. There such a difference that my brother said that moes a whole different dog and he’s a lot calmer and my niece and nephew weren’t nervous around him. Thank you Nicole for being great at your job and Moe loves coming to your place.”

“Dana was great. She did everything we asked and communicated well. She walked our dog 3 times a day and sent plenty of pictures to let us know how she was doing throughout her stay. We also had some medicine that we needed applied and she did that as well. We are going on another trip in a few weeks and we are planning on using her again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
