“Amazing service! My dog seemed very comfortable here and they were very friendly! Even though it was a one time visit for a vacation if I lived here this would definitely be somewhere I took him every time.”
“Rachel is incredible with our puppy, who I know, is a lot of energy and work! My dog is so excited to come over to Rachel’s house, she’s practically jumping from my arms! I am so grateful for the love and care Rachel provides!”

“Katja and her family took excellent care of my sweet one. Katja is very responsive, diligent and caring, providing equal loving care and attention as she does to her own pets.”

About: I recently got married and moved to the area. I’m a Virginia tech animal science grad. I have worked in a boarding and daycare facility the past 2 years. I also have some dog training experience from college and in the kennel facility. Upon request I can offer training sessions for your pups. I recently moved to the area and still looking for a job that’s a good fit for me. In the meantime your pups will have all my free time! I have plenty of experience working with all types of dogs, including ones that are nervous greeters, food aggressive, barrier reactivity, leash reactivity and more. I understand every dog is different and will always work to make your dog comfortable in any environment. Big advocate for always having treats on hand and reading their body language at every interaction.
About: I have been taking care of my friends’ dogs of every kind for years and have a love for fur babies. Myself and my husky girl Skye work from home and therefore have tons of time and love to afford to your babies! Skye loves other dogs of every kind and we have a house with a fenced backyard for plenty of play time! I decided to do Rover because I know how picky I am when it comes to allowing anyone else to watch Skye, which is why I know how important empathy, compassion, and attention to detail is when choosing a trusted pet sitter. I work full time from home so I will be home pretty much all the time with the fur babies! I know how important it is for pups not to be left alone as my Skye girl has seperation anxiety. The same attentiveness and care I take for her, I take for your babies as well! I live in an end unit townhome with a fenced backyard. Being a husky owner I keep my home sealed tight unless it’s potty or play time due to my husky’s natural instinct to be an escape artist. I like to take my husky girl Skye on walks before and/or after my work from home shifts to ensure plenty of exercise and throughout the day while I’m working she typically likes to sunbathe, people watch out my front windows, play outside in my fenced backyard, or take big time naps on one of the many dog beds or couches I have.
“Knowledgeable, considers personalities when letting the dogs play together. Let’s the dog approach him initially instead of rushing a connection. Would highly recommend”

“My experience with Nicole was very professional and pleasant. Communicating with her was clear and precise, Plus she gave me updates with my puppy throughout the day. When picking up my dog from our home, he was calm and less hyper than he usually is, so I know he enjoyed himself. I plan to scheduled her for more play days when I am unable to be with him for a majority of the day!!!”

“Shawn was very thorough with questions about Toby. it made me feel more comfortable leaving him for the day knowing he was taking so many precautions, even with our meet and greet. i plan to use Shawn again in the future!”

“Marjorie has been amazing from checking in, sending updates and daily photos. In just a few days, I’ve seen so much growth with my pup. So s/o Marjorie for being so hands-on, assuring and wonderful!”
“Tiana was so amazing!! I was moving to the area that day and had a lease meeting and needed a last minute dog sitter. She had a very quick response time, was super sweet and my babies were happy and healthy! Can’t wait to use her again!!”

About: My name is Cameron and caring for dogs has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been around dogs since I was six years old. Since then, I’ve owned and cared for a wide variety of breeds, including my two current boys. A Harlequin Great Dane named Mylo & a German Shepherd/Lab mix his name is Bear. We rescued Bear a few years back. Animals have always been where I feel most at home. I genuinely connect with dogs more naturally than I do with most people, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. Whether it’s a walk, playtime, or simply keeping them company, I focus on making each dog feel safe, loved, and understood. When I’m not out with pups, I’m spending time with my wife and daughter, enjoying life as a growing family with our two dogs right by our side. Dog care isn’t just a job for me, it’s a lifelong passion. I’m home 24/7. I can very easily accommodate pets needs as far as feedings, potty time, walks & playtime along with any other requests the parent/parents may have. I own a 1200 Square Ft. townhome with a fenced in backyard. I often leave the sliding door open for your furry family member to go in and out as they please. Inside of my home offers a very open living space inside up and down stairs. Plenty of toys and space to have fun! I have plenty of dog bowls, leashes/leads and provide dog beds if pets/pet parents prefer not to get on the furniture.

About: I’ve had a lifelong passion for caring for animals. Growing up with both dogs and cats, I gained early experience in pet care, which later extended to looking after pets for friends and family. Now, as a dog owner myself, I’m confident and comfortable handling a wide variety of breeds and attentive to any special needs they may have. As someone who works from home with a flexible schedule, I have the time and availability to provide reliable, attentive care for your pets. I’d love to spend my free time helping you by giving your pets the love and attention they deserve! I don’t just focus on getting the job done—I make sure your pet has a great time too! I truly enjoy spending time with animals and getting to know their unique personalities!
About: I’ve had many dogs since I was a child and have experienced many differing personalities and needs among dogs. We have a large fenced in backyard with lots of room for play and two pups who are ready to make new friends! I work from home full time so I am able to interact with the dogs during the day and make sure they get all the attention they need. Prefer a dog visit prior to sitting to ensure compatibility with our dogs. Our dogs are kind and playful, but can sometimes be protective of the home so visits ahead of time help greatly to ensure compatibility. I have an acre-large, fenced-in yard that provides plenty of space for dogs to run around and play. We have tennis balls and toys that we throw for them so the dogs can have a fun experience. We also have 1x crate in the event your dog is still a puppy or prefers an enclosed space overnight. For first time visits, we will introduce the dogs through our backyard to make sure all dogs have space and time to adjust to each other.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
