“Chris was amazing!! Was very easy to communicate with and provided us with peace of mind. He sent us lots of pictures and videos, our dog had a great time!! We will definitely be booking with him again.”

“Sarah and her family were great taking care of our fur baby. I was really nervous with leaving her for the first time. Sarah made it easy. We got pictures and updates daily. We will definitely use her again. I think Piper was a little sad to leave her new friends”

About: I’ve worked with dogs for over 20 years, with much of that time spent walking and handling shelter dogs—especially those that are anxious or unsure. That experience taught me how important calm, structure, and consistency are in helping dogs feel more confident. I run Trail & Heel, a dog training and adventure-based care service in Louisville. I focus on practical, real-world training—whether that’s working with puppies, improving leash manners, or helping nervous dogs build confidence. Every walk and interaction is handled with intention. For me, care and training go hand in hand, with the goal of helping dogs become calmer, more reliable, and easier to live with. Caring for dogs is already part of my everyday life, so it fits naturally into my routine. I plan my schedule around the dogs I’m working with so I’m not rushing between visits. That means each dog gets calm, consistent attention and a much better experience overall. Care is always tailored to the dog and the service, but the approach stays consistent: calm, structured, and intentional. In a client’s home, I stick closely to their routine—feeding, potty breaks, exercise, and any specific instructions—while also reinforcing good habits like leash manners, calm greetings, and settling. In my home, I keep the environment structured and low-stress. Dogs get supervised time, appropriate exercise (including trail walks when it’s a good fit), and clear boundaries so they can relax and succeed. I only take on a small number of dogs at a time to make sure each one gets the attention they need.
“My dog Oban came home after 7 days and was calm and happy, not clingy! He was treated as a member of Elizabeth and Philip’s family. I feel so fortunate to have found Elizabeth and Philip! Thank you both!”

“Unlike boarding facilities or vets' offices where he has stayed in in the past, Sprite was happy and content while with Arla and her family. Being an "only" dog, Sprite really enjoyed his social time with Charlie and Winston. I don't know who had a better time on their vacation; us or our dog! We will definitely use Arla again.”

About: I’m a huge dog lover and have two dogs of my own, so taking care of dogs is a big part of my everyday life. I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, energy levels, and personalities, and I know how important it is to have someone you trust looking after your pets. I’m happy to help with walks, feeding, playtime, keeping up with their normal routine, or just giving them plenty of attention and company. I’ll treat your pets like I would my own and make sure they’re happy and comfortable while you’re away. I work from home full-time, so I have a lot of flexibility throughout the day to give your pets plenty of attention. I’m available to give your dog lots of walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, and lots of company throughout the day, as well as evenings and weekends. I have a fenced-in yard and two dogs of my own, so I’m used to keeping up with different routines and making sure everyone is safe and comfortable. I also have crates available if needed and am happy to follow whatever routine your dog is used to at home, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and plenty of attention.
“Collin is amazing and I am so blessed that my kitty, Penny, was able to board with such a loving family. Much to my surprise, Penny and Collin's kitty, Nala, became BFFs and played together! Collin kept me updated on Penny and her stay with him and his family. Truly, there is no better sitter in Louisville for fur babies!”

“Alyssa was awesome! Her and her kiddos welcomed Zorro with open arms! She kept me posted on how he was doing and out my mind at ease during his stay. Thanks Alyssa, I will definitely be rebooking for any future needs!”

About: Hello! You can call me Wendy. I’m a tenured physics professor and a lifelong animal lover. I currently have three cats of my own and many years of experience caring for both cats and dogs. I have experience caring for senior pets and understand the importance of routines, medication schedules, and paying close attention to changes in behavior and health. I’m patient, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to making every pet feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while their family is away. For pets boarding in my home, I understand that some pets may be more comfortable having their own space. If you prefer, I can keep my three cats completely separate from your pet for the entire stay, so your pet can relax in a safe, quiet environment. As a professor, I bring professionalism, responsibility, and strong communication to every pet-sitting job. My schedule is especially flexible during evenings, weekends, holidays, and university breaks. Whether you need house sitting, drop-in visits, dog walking, feeding, litter box cleaning, or care for senior pets, I will treat your pets and home with the same care and respect I give my own.
“Daphne was wonderful! She took Lola as a last minute booking and we couldn't be happier! We received daily picture updates. Lola was treated like a little princess with lots of love! 🩷 Highly recommend Daphne!”

“Ian was amazing! He stayed in contact with us so we knew our baby was comfortable and happy. She is older, deaf, and not used to being alone since I work from home. He dealt with her laundry list of specific needs and never missed a beat. She made a new friend and we will be using him again if we ever have another need for extended care.”

“Heather was great! We highly recommend her, my dog had a great time at her house which was perfect because doesn’t have steps. She send us updates and pictures daily giving us a peace of mind.”
“Patrick was great! Prompt communication and plenty of picture updates on Guthrie, who looked to be having the time of his life. I swear Guthrie was positively beaming when I picked him up! The afterglow remains several days after.”

“I can’t say enough good things about these folks. To start, they spent an hour with me and Benny (my pup) in advance of my trip and introduced us to their place. Benny loved the big backyard and I could tell he immediately felt at home. During my trip, I received daily videos of Benny playing with other dogs or being loved on, which made me feel good knowing I was so far away from home. Benny is such a good dog and I am grateful to have connected with people as equally good and loving. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

“Lauren was awesome with our Chloe Bear! She sent us regular updates and lots of pics while we were gone. She took excellent care of her. Chloe Bear loved playing with her 2 dogs! I will definitely use Lauren again. It’s nice not to worry about your baby when you are gone.”

“Robin was a great sitter! Clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to caring for dogs, and made us feel very comfortable with leaving our pup at her home for several days. Really appreciated the communication and pictures/daily updates. Will definitely reach out to Robin again in the future.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in KY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
