“Charlette was great with my dog while I went away for two nights. I was hesitant to leave him with someone because he’s never stayed anywhere other than my house. Charlette assured me that everything would be okay and told my wife and I about other visits she’s had so I knew what to expect. I was given daily pictures and updates about how he was doing and I really comfortable with the amount of care he received. If I need to do a rover visit again I will definitely rebook with Charlette.”

“Anthony and Nate did a wonderful job with our Holly. I got photo/text updates on how she was doing. We would definitely book again. If you are thinking about booking with Anthony, you definitely should.”

“As usual I was nervous leaving Shadow with someone new, but Michelle's home is so welcoming and Shadow took to Michelle and her home right away. She sent pictures a couple times a day and I could see from the photos that Shadow was relaxed and comfortable. That reassurance made my trip all the more relaxing.”

“Crystal was great with our dogs! It was our first time using this site and having dogs away from home but she made us feel so comfortable and reassured us that they will have above and beyond what they need. She sent us pictures and updates regularly which made us feel even better! I highly recommend Crystal!”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“Mickey was great. She made Beasley feel very comfortable and treated him like one of the family. She even bought him a sweater that she let us keep while we were gone because it got very cold out. He not only loved her but he also made a couple new friends at her house. Sunny and Sylvester were great companions for him during his stay. We will definitely be calling Mickey for future travels when Beasley needs a place to stay.”

“Georgia and her husband were amazing! They treated Olivia like a member of their family. They sent daily photos, worked on training, went for multiple walks, and played with her all the time. I will certainly use Georgia next time I need to leave my puppy at home! Thanks so much!! 🐶❤️”

“Sarah was awesome! She was available on a pretty short notice and sent me photos and updates throughout the weekend. Sarah and her family are all dog lovers and very friendly. I highly recommend her and if I'm ever in need of a dog sitter again, she's first on my list! Thanks again Sarah!”

“Sierra is an awesome sitter!! My Bentley loves her and she takes really good care of him when she has him, and he is always happy when she sends me pictures of him. I would recommend her to anyone😊”

“Jessica was amazing with caring for our Bailey! She is kind, reliable and a true dog lover. She follows all care instructions and keeps in communication with pictures and updates. We would book with her again without reservation.”

“Courtney is fantastic. She is clearly extraordinarily knowledgeable and is extremely adept at making dogs feel comfortable in her home. This was Chauncey's first extended boarding stay and she ensured that he was very comfortable and happy the entire time. Courtney is quick to respond to messages and was very flexible when it came to drop off/pick up times. I cannot recommend Courtney enough to anyone looking for a reliable, dependable, and courteous sitter!”

“Our Mylo (Cockapoo) was right away comfortable with Zaira. She obviously loved dogs and knows how to take care of them. Her son also made our Mylo feel comforted when he was a bit anxious. Thanks Zaira and family for taking good care of our pet.”

“great communication and felt very confident leaving my dog with amanda! will definitely ask to re-book next time i go out of town. thanks amanda!!”

“Lindsey has watched my dog a couple of times and is wonderful. Recently she accommodated a very last minute stay which I’m so grateful for. Lots of walks and attention for my dog. Highly recommend!”

“My dog Jordan was well taken care of. I highly recommend Raisa for dog boarding. She let me know how my pup was doing and sent pictures. She was very kind and I am grateful to have found her. Would definitely go through her again. 10/5 stars!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
