“Crystal did amazing taking care of our two dogs over the holidays for an extended stay. This was our first time leaving our dogs for multiple days and Crystal sent us lots of photos and it put my mind at ease. You can tell she definitely is experienced! She handled everything really well. Our dogs are rescues and can be timid, in all the photos she sent they looked super comfortable and right at home. I recommend Crystal to anyone looking for someone they can trust to take care of their pups!”

“Michelle was an amazing with our shy foster dog Roxy! She was super patient, kind, and created a really loving and safe space for her to be comfortable with her. She has excellent communication with us so we were updated the whole weekend. Cannot recommend more!”

About: I have grown up with family dogs and currently have 2 that live in my house. I am more than comfortable performing any sort of dog care! I work as an electrician during the day so I am available any time outside of 7am-3pm Monday through Friday. If the dog can make it through the work day, I am the perfect fit! I am happy to accommodate any sort of service for your dog. Just give me the details upon booking and I will ensure your animals are cared for!
“Anthony did a great job taking care of my pup. She can be shy and fearful in new situations and Anthony did a great job to keep her calm and comfortable. She enjoyed playing with his dogs, Yoki and Canelo. I enjoyed receiving updates and pictures of my pup while I was away which helped me feel at ease. Anthony is calm, reliable and welcoming. I plan to use his services again when I need them.”

“Georgia and her husband were amazing! They treated Olivia like a member of their family. They sent daily photos, worked on training, went for multiple walks, and played with her all the time. I will certainly use Georgia next time I need to leave my puppy at home! Thanks so much!! 🐶❤️”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“Best person ever to watch your dog. Absolutely would go to her before anyone else. Takes care of our dog better than anyone could. I can’t stress enough to go to her for any dog stay. Perfect!!!”

“Ciara was great with Rex! She sent lots of picture updates, which really put my mind at ease, and he seemed to do really well in her care. I appreciate the attention and communication—would definitely recommend and book again.”

“Courtney provided wonderful care for our dog during a lengthy two week stay. She was constantly in communication with us, sent an abundant amount of photos, and made sure our pup felt right at home. We will definitely using her again for future needs and I highly recommend her to others!”

“Lindsey has watched my dog a couple of times and is wonderful. Recently she accommodated a very last minute stay which I’m so grateful for. Lots of walks and attention for my dog. Highly recommend!”

“Our Mylo (Cockapoo) was right away comfortable with Zaira. She obviously loved dogs and knows how to take care of them. Her son also made our Mylo feel comforted when he was a bit anxious. Thanks Zaira and family for taking good care of our pet.”

“great communication and felt very confident leaving my dog with amanda! will definitely ask to re-book next time i go out of town. thanks amanda!!”

“Valerie was amazing. She Made me feel so comfortable with leaving my service pup for first time 🙏🏻💕 her place is more than enough for a large pooch. So grateful! Will definitely return”

“Raisa took wonderful care of our dog, Bonita! We could tell Bonita had a fun and comfortable stay, and she almost did not want to leave. Raisa went above and beyond by giving Bonita extra home-cooked dog food and comforting her during loud noises and thunderstorms. Bonita also loved spending time with her daughter and husband too. We are so thankful for the love and care Raisa and her family gave Bonita. Highly recommend and would definitely book again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
