“Our Mylo (Cockapoo) was right away comfortable with Zaira. She obviously loved dogs and knows how to take care of them. Her son also made our Mylo feel comforted when he was a bit anxious. Thanks Zaira and family for taking good care of our pet.”

“Beverly was great! She sent several pictures of Lucy throughout the day. Very good communication. Lucy had a great time because she came home exhausted. Would definitely have Beverly watch Lucy again when we need a pet sitter.”

“Where do I even begin?!! Michelle has to be one of the best dog sitters we have ever encountered in our lives. She pays so much attention to our dogs and loves them as if they were her own. I never had to wonder what was going on while we were away, as Michelle does a fantastic job with updates and pictures galore throughout the day. We were able to enjoy ourselves the entire trip because we knew our dogs were in good hands. Michelle goes above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of. I highly recommend her services. Thank you so much!”

“Jolene and her family were great with Bailey. We had regular communication with pictures and it really seemed like Bailey was part of their family while there. We will definitely reach out to Jolene again :)”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“Jeff provided a great first experience for our Lulu. His home is clean and comfortable, and he has a terrific fully fenced back yard. Jeff provided updates and pics throughout her visit, which was greatly appreciated. We look forward to future opportunities to have Lulu spend time with Jeff.”

“I can't say enough about Rory D. Her home was clean, neat, and very organized. She had a separate "bedroom" where Gigi would spend the night and relax when other pets were in the house. During her stay Rory gave Gigi the opportunity to meet and forge a friendship with another cat. I was so pleased! Rory followed all care requests. Rory sent pictures and videos of Gigi throughout her stay. Gigi appeared very content and happy. Gigi was well cared for and healthy when I picked her up at the end of her stay. Without any reservation I recommend Rory for pet sitting. She did an excellent job. I will definitely rebook with Rory D. the next time I need pet sitting services.”

“I am so excited that I found someone who will luv and take care of my fur babies like I would. This was the first time I left my babies with a sitter. Katie assured me they would be ok and for me to go enjoy myself on my little getaway! I am happy that I did! I luv how Katie made communication during their stay. I could see that my fur babies were well taken care of and was enjoying their stay. The walks, playtime, and other activities. Thank you Katie! You Rock!!!!!”

“We were so fortunate to have found Kelly!! She took excellent care of Molly and her updates and communication were very much appreciated. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy our vacation knowing that Molly was in good hands. We will surely be a repeat customer.”

“Crystal is awesome! She has taken care of two of my dogs and our newest dog is very shy and anxious. Crystal went out of her way to make him feel at home. He wasn't eating a ton so she even went out and got him wet dog food which he ate well. By the end of his 3 days with Crystal he was feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Crystal, especially if your dog is anxious!”

“great communication and felt very confident leaving my dog with amanda! will definitely ask to re-book next time i go out of town. thanks amanda!!”

“Our little Bonnie had a wonderful stay with Sandy. Unlike many others we felt 100% happy and confident that our little ball of fluff was well cared for. Bonnie came back very happy and relaxed which is a great sign. Sandy had lots of space to give Bonnie the exercise she needs, being quite an active dog this was great to see. We have certainly found our sitter for bonnie and will be using Sandy again without hesitation.”

“Logan was communicative, accommodating, and professional. He went out of his way to help me when plans changed and was flexible with his process because of my situation (I was from out of town and traveling through). My dog was well taken care of.”

“Raisa took wonderful care of our dog, Bonita! We could tell Bonita had a fun and comfortable stay, and she almost did not want to leave. Raisa went above and beyond by giving Bonita extra home-cooked dog food and comforting her during loud noises and thunderstorms. Bonita also loved spending time with her daughter and husband too. We are so thankful for the love and care Raisa and her family gave Bonita. Highly recommend and would definitely book again!”

“Erica was great! Super flexible and willing to take on Henry with pretty limited notice! He had a great time at her house, and Erica provided plenty of pictures and updates as to how Henry was doing! 6 out of 5 stars, would absolutely book again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
